Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
Happy Mother's Day weekend, I include all the furbaby Mom's too.
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
Since I am only posting once a week with my Saturday's Critters I am able stay a little more up to date sharing photos. At this time we were celebrating our 32nd Anniversary! These images are from the middle of April. I am always looking for birds on my walks with the grand-dogs. Some times for a new location hubby and I will drive somewhere for our walk.
1. April 8th, we drove around our Prettyboy reservoir, taking photos of the lake and dam. There was one Double-crested Cormorant hanging out, we did see some ducks but they moved away quickly.
2. April 8th after checking out the dam, we drove past the Friendly Farm's pond to see if any new ducks or birds showed up. I did see a few Blue-winged Teals, possible Gadwall or female Mallard?
3. April 8th, we have had a lot of rain which makes the lake water look more brownish like muddy water. The Canada Geese did not seem to mind the muddy looking lake water.
4. April 9th, our walk on the fire road with the grand-dogs. This trail is mostly covered with pine needles.
5. April 9th, I spread out some peanuts loose and in the shells for my yard birds, usually the peanuts disappear quickly. This female Cardinal may have missed out on getting a peanut.
6. April 11th, another walk to the lake with the dogs, we saw more Double-crested Cormorants, Canada Geese and some wildflowers.
7. April 11, I have multiple bird houses in our yard but this chickadee is nesting in a dead tree that we left for the woodpeckers.
8. April 12th, I drove hubby for his eye checkup and we made a quick stop at the area known for seeing the Yellow-crowned Night Heron nesting about the Jones Falls in Baltimore.
9. April 12th, a view of the Jones Falls and the Yellow-crowned Night Heron.
Hubby and I celebrated our 32nd Anniversary on May 4th, we have had 32 years of happy times and great memories.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

The yellow crowned night heron looks like it is taking a nap. Our days are getting hot and humid. We are staying indoors away from the sun. Happy Mother's Day and weekend. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy, thank you for the comment.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.

Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos and collages you were able to make of your trip.
The female cardinal is very beautiful and is also my favorite photo.
Would you mind posting my link?
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Greetings Irma
Thank you Irma!
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
Thank you for shining your light on us, Eileen
ReplyDeleteThank you Cloudia!
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
the female cardinal and the chickadee are just beautiful and are my favorites. of course the dogs trump birds in my book and if they laid down on the trail they would be hiding in plain sight. Happy belated anniversary. 32 is a long time and a short time.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra! The 32 years has been both a long time and a short time.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
It is always a joy to look at your blog and see the beautiful photo's you make of the birds. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marianne! It is nice to see you linking up this week.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
I wish that more people would leave their dead trees standing. So much food and habitat is removed when they take them down.
ReplyDeleteThank you David! The woodpeckers do love the dead trees.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
The Chickadee is so tender...building nest is a committing activity.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you too and to all the mothers in your family, including furbaby mothers!
Hello Luisella, thank you for the nice comment.
DeleteTake care, have a great weekend.
Your pine-needle covered path reminds me of those in the New Mexico mountains. Here in Connecticut our local forest is hardwood and the trails are covered rather deeply in oak leaves, nice habitat for rattlesnakes and ticks.
ReplyDeleteHello Ken,
DeleteI love our trail covered with pine needles, walking is so easy. We are seeing ticks here too, I have had three on me so far. Thanks for the comment, have a great weekend.
Tão lindas as fotos dos passeios que fizeram.
ReplyDeleteParabéns pelos 32 anos de casados e desejo ótimo e feliz dia das mães!
beijos, chica
Thank you so much Chica! Have a happy Mother's Day weekend.
DeleteThe yellow-crowned night heron is a neat bird to see. I don't remember them from my own birding, but I'm not very good at remembering which birds I have seen. According to the Cornell Lab map, it doesn't come as far north as our area, even in migration. So it seems very special.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and a very good Mother's Day.
Note that your blog is one of those where comments are mysteriously blocked at times, at least for my iPad. Recently, a lot of people have been expressing frustration about difficulties with blogger comments.

DeleteCongratulations on 32 years! That is a milestone. Your pups are so fun. I remember hearing a story about a man dog sitting for a neighbour. He wrote her a letter later saying that he adopted a pet, after the experience, and it changed his life for the better! He was lonely and sad, and it got him out of the house.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, and have a great weekend! We tend to hunker down as our cottage town gets a bit crazy!
Thanks Jenn! The grand-dogs are getting us out of the house, more walks and more exercise is good for us too.
DeleteHave a happy Mother's Day weekend.

Good morning Eileen, I really enjoy these weekends off as I get to blog so much earlier. As always your critters are amazing especially the female Cardinal who may have missed out on one of those peanuts, and your dead tree is like an art piece in my opinion, what a cool tree and of course your Woody woodpeckers of the neighborhood are in full enjoyment too. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day to you.

DeleteDearest Eileen, first of all Happy Mother's Day and all the best on your wedding anniversary! How wonderful that you had such a good time, too - may you both continue to be happy.
ReplyDeleteAlso your birding tours and walks with the granddogs look like a happy time - lots of great bird sightings, beautiful scenery - and I noticed that your wildlife spots have very positive names: "Prettyboy reservoir", "Friendly Farm's pond" - this makes a good mood :-D
I have one of my grandcats for you today (the youngest one) :-)
All the best, have a pleasant (Mother's Day)-Sunday and a good new week,
Traude

DeleteHappy Mother's Day, Eileen, and belated Happy Anniversary! That pine needle trail must smell so good. It has been so windy here this spring that it has cleared away all the pine tree pollen that usually makes me sneeze. Love the nighheron and the little chickadee and it's tree trunk house.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat! The pollen drives me crazy too. Have a great new week!
