  Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

We are still dog-sitting, waiting for my son to have his fence installed. So we continue to take the grand-dogs for a daily walk, on the local fire roads and to the lake.

1. Aug 4, I took some photos of our flowers, Morning Glories, Hibiscus,  Fuchsia, Winnie the Corgi, a mushroom seen off the fire road and our Zinnias.

2.  Aug 8th, our walk to the lake with the dogs, our neighbor's flowers, the fire road, one of two Great Blue Herons, wildflowers, the grand-dogs, Louisiana Waterthrush, unknown Flycatcher.

3. This is one of the two Great Blue Herons we saw at the lake. I also heard the Pileated Woodpecker and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo on this walk.

4. Aug 10,  before leaving our yard I heard and found this Yellow-billed Cuckoo perched high in a tree next to our yard. Winnie and Nibbles are still enjoying their walks on the fire road, we are seeing some mushrooms and fungi and the bunny was seen in our yard when we returned from the walk.

5. The Yellow-billed Cuckoo seen from our deck, I hear them often but this was the first time seeing them next to our yard.

6. Aug 10th, I enjoy watching the butterflies around our Buddleia Bush, I captured some of the Black Swallowtails.

I read the male Black Swallowtail has more yellow and less blue on the wings.

7. Aug 14th, hubby and I took a walk at the local Hashawha Nature Center park.  I was only able to get a few bird photos, the flowers were looking lovely. A nice weather day for a walk.

8. Aug 14th,  We saw a family of Eastern Bluebirds high in a tree eating berries.

9. Aug 14th , an American Robin

10. Aug 14, a White-breasted Nuthatch.

11. A bonus mosaic with our grandsons, they are growing fast. I think they both love their new home. I am sure they will be happy to get their fence built and have their dogs at home with them again. Soon, I hope!

I hope you enjoyed my post. Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Saturday's Critters # 453

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

My critters are from our yard and neighborhood.  The butterflies are loving the Buddleia, sometimes I see the Hummingbird fly into the bush to perch near the feeder. The Grand-dogs will be with us until my son has his fence built, it seems it takes a while to get HOA approvals.

1. July 27th , our butterfly bush is filled with the yellow and black Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. I finally saw a Monarch at the same butterfly bush and a Admiral Butterfly.

"Butterflies are nature's angels. They remind us what a gift it is to be alive."

2. July 27th, the Yellow Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly.

" Happiness is found in the warm sun and butterflies."

3. July 27th , my first sighting of the season, the Monarch butterfly.

4. Aug 1st, a walk on the fire road with the grand-dogs. Winnie the Corgi needs to stop and rest during the walks.

5. Aug 2nd, I sat on our deck and just watched the butterflies at the Buddleia bush. I was happy to see a Monarch butterfly visiting again. Others in the mosaic are the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Black Swallowtail.

6.  Aug 2nd, same image as in the mosaic above, the Black Swallowtail butterfly.

7.  Aug 3rd, a few of my backyard birds, the Northern Cardinal, Mockingbird, Ruby-throated Hummingbird and the Tufted Titmouse.

A few of the birds like the Mockingbird and the Cardinal were in our blueberry bush.

8. A Blue Jay sitting in the back yard pine tree.

9. Aug 3rd, a Tufted Titmouse perched in the butterfly bush waiting to hop over to the deck railing for a peanut.

Saturday's Critters # 452

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

On July 30th, hubby and I took a walk at North Point State Park. I posted numerous times about our visits to this park. Usually we see some great birds there, the Little Blue Herons are missing this time. We saw adult and juvenile Bald Eagles, many Osprey, Great Blue Heron,  Green Heron, Tree Swallows, Turkey Vultures, Belted Kingfisher, lots of turtles, a black rat snake, DC Cormorants, Tern and Gulls, various butterflies and dragonflies.

Click on images for larger viewing.

1. Below top row: Green Heron, Gulls with domestic white Geese and one Tern, Great Blue Heron. Second row adult Bald Eagle, juvenile Bald Eagle and the two Osprey. Last row : Dragonfly, Belted Kingfisher, Monarch butterfly and Slider Turtles.

2. This Green Heron below has something in it's mouth, small fish or maybe a frog.

3. A distant view of the Green Heron with two Slider Turtles.

4.  A Slider Turtle with a dragonfly. Can you find the dragonfly?

5. I tried zooming in on this adult Bald Eagle.

6. The juvenile Bald Eagle was hanging out on a tree.

7.  A view of the Chesapeake Bay is at the end of the Black Marsh Trail, we could see lots of Gulls, a tern and  the domestic White Geese seem to be out of place.

8. Below a beach at the park, out in the bay are an Osprey and Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Heron and some gulls.

9.  An Osprey was seen perched on a tree branch.

10. I am guessing at these id's of various dragonflies top row:  Autumn Meadowhawk, a Green Darner, bottom row two different Blue Dashers.

11. There are lots of the Slider Turtles in the wetland areas of North Point State Park.

12. I found just one Great Blue Heron in the marshy area of the park.

I hope you enjoyed my photos and visit to the park. Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Saturday's Critters # 451

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

A variety of photos and critters from our daily walks.

1. July 18th, the fire roads are like an obstacle course having to climb over fallen trees from a recent storm, at the lake we saw the usual Belted Kingfisher, a Great Blue Heron flying away and the Canada Geese. Of course the grand-dogs are with us on our walk.

2. July 19th, hubby and I hiked close to 3 miles on the NCR bike trail. Near the parking area we saw lots of Bee Balm and along the trail were blooming Hostas.

3. July 19th NCR trail, I always hear more birds than I can actually see, but we did have a good sighting of a Great Blue Heron.

4. July 19th, back at home I watched a few birds come for the peanuts I put out on my deck railing. Below are the Blue Jay, Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Tufted Titmouse.

5. July 19th A Tufted Titmouse sunning or anting? I see 5-6 Tufted Titmouse coming and going grabbing a peanut.

6. July 20th, a few of my backyard birds stopping by for some peanuts. The Blue Jay, Tufted Titmouse, the Gray Catbird practically lives in our blueberry bushes.

7. July 21, on our backyard Buddleia, butterfly bush is the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and the Hummingbird Moth.

8. July 24th, hubby and I are still taking our morning walks, bird sightings have slowed quite a bit. I do hear birds but they are hidden in the trees. I have some images of a Goldfinch taking some dog hair for it's nest and the butterflies on the Buddleia.

9. July 24th, An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail at the butterfly bush.

10.   July 24th , the American Goldfinch was taking Nibble's dog hair.  I assume they are working on a nest. It seems kind late in the summer for the nesting, maybe a second brood.

Bonus, July 31 my son and his family have moved into their new home. Below are hubby (Pop-Pop) with Mason and Wyatt below. The grand-dogs will be with us until my son is able to get a fence put around his yard, not sure how long the process will be.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!
