Saturday's Critters # 478

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I have more from our neighborhood lake and back yard.  We usually take our walks on the local fire roads and to the lake.

1.  Jan 21st, one of the highlights of this walk to the lake was a closer look at the White-breasted Nuthatch.

Click on images for better viewing.

2. We see a lot of  White-breasted Nuthatches in our neighborhood. Some times they come to my deck for some peanuts I put out on my deck railing.

3. Jan 22nd , We drove around our lake and took a walk to the lake where we can see the Bald Eagle's nest.  The Eagles were perched in two different trees not far from the nest. We saw a big group of Common Mergansers and another group of Hooded Mergansers. Also on this walk we saw a large flock of Robins and lots of Cedar Waxwings.

4. This was one of the two Bald Eagles we saw in trees next to the lake. Their nest is close by.

5. We spooked the Hooded Mergansers when we got closer to the lake, they all flew off.

6. We stopped on the fire road to watch a large group of Cedar Waxwing, maybe 20 or more. They found a lot of berries to eat.

7. Jan 25th we had a light dusting of snow, is this a Red-tailed or a Red-shouldered Hawk. It was perched in a tree next to the driveway.

8. This hawk sat in tree for awhile, looking this way and that way. Hoping to catch a meal.

9. Bonus our grandson Wyatt will be 2 years old on the 15th, Happy 2nd Birthday Wyatt!

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Hi Eileen,
These are beautiful series of photos and collages.
The white-tailed eagle is really great to see, there are a few pairs in the Netherlands, but I have never seen them, but in the zoo of course.
Would you like to post my link??
I wish you a very nice weekend, enjoy your grandson.
Greetings Irma

Dearest Eileen,
White-breasted Nuthatches are such adorable birds. We also have nuthatches here, but I think it's a different kind of. ❤️
The beautiful hawk must have been very cold in the snow, I hope it found food.
So sweet, your grandson! Happy Birthday from me too, Wyatt! My grandson Jamie is coming today, I'm looking forward to it!
Happy weekend, Traude

Happy Birthday Wyatt. The hawk is a beaut Eileen. I think it's snowing and cold as it looks puffed up to keep heat in its feathers. If so you need to keep warm and safe too. Thanks for the link today. Have a lovely weekend.

Love the nuthatch. I’ve seen one here this year. Bald eagles are such majestic creatures. And the hooded mergansers. Aren’t they show-offs with those hoods. The waxwing flocks are an impressive sight too. However, nothing compares to your cute little two year old.

Debbie said...

such a beautiful collection of birds. the images of the hawk are gorgeous but i really hate seeing them in my yard, all birds know, and all birds scatter!! i have been seeing a lot of nuthatches this winter both the red and white breasted. wyatt is adorable, he looks so happy!! have an awesome weekend eileen and so many thanks for hosting!!!

happy birthday Wyatt! my son David will be 58 on the 14th, Dan will be 56 on the 22nd. I almost said I wish they were still two but after thinking about it I am glad they are no. ha ha... love the hawk pics, so beautiful. as i sit here typing I am watching a flicker on our palm tree pecking away, the window is open and it is loud, bob can't hear it but can see it. whatever he pecked out of the tree, he flew to the roof, turned upside down and pushed it in the facia hole. I watched him do it. for some reason the birds are back, they have been gone for a few years, now we have a barred owl in the tree in the back yard, I know him by his sound. I LOVE his sound. at 5 am, 3 days in a row, I hear him and go stand and listen. he has tow sounds, but the one he makes has 5 syllable and loud. can't see him in the dark. our screech owls are back the past week.

Thank you Sandra! I would love to have a Barred owl in my yard, I can hear them in the forest around my house. The woodpeckers and flickers are loud, pecking away at the trees. Take care, have a great weekend.

Great shot of Mergansers in flight! Love these all, just so beautiful. Thanks.

Hello Eileen :=) What a day! Filled with so many great bird sightings and fantastic photos. The White-breasted Nuthatch is a sweet little bird, which I have only ever seen once. The Hawk is beautiful, but frightens away the smaller birds, but I hope it finds food, just not from your birds :=)) Great capture of the Hooded Mergansers flying away, and how wonderful to see the Cedar Waxwings, and Bald Eagle. A premature Happy Birthday to big boy Wyatt. Lovely happy photo! :=)
Thank you for hosting Eileen and enjoy your weekend.

Hi Eileen
Happy 2nd birthday to Wyatt! He is an adorable looking boy and I'm sure brings you much joy! I'm always excited to see eagles. I am praying the bird flu epidemic this year does not decimate their numbers.

Thank you Pat! It is a treat to see the eagles, I hope their numbers are not going down due to the avian flu.

I always love seeing bald eagles in the wild. I love the cedar waxwings. Waterfowl of all types, except geese, seem very sensitive to human presence and flee if they get the slightest hint somebody is near.
Your grandson is a handsome young man.

Good morning Eileen and I'm sending Happy Birthday greetings to Wyatt! 2 already, times flies. That Eagle is sweet in the tree and the Hawk is adorable, not always they usually look pretty fierce but this one is sweeter! Great pictures of your world, it seems things are getting better in most places, hooray for that, although we still have tons of snow hanging around. Take care enjoy the rest of your weekend and on to next week!

A plumagem é lindíssima! E fiquei especialmente encantada com aquela imagem dos passarinhos pousados na árvore, como se fossem folhas...
Sempre grandes partilhas, Eileen!
