Saturday's Critters # 496

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

May 8-9th, Ireland continued, this day we left Westport, stops along the way at the holy mountain Croagh Patrick and St. Patrick statue overlook, the Great Famine sculpture and arriving later in the day in the town of Clifden.

1. Croagh Patrick is name of a religious site and mountain in the Republic of Ireland, we walked up the trail just as far as the statue of Saint Patrick, Eurasian Robin, invasive fuchsia, Great Famine Monument, cows, Murrisk Abbey, Barn Swallow and more cows.

The striking coffin ship, emigrants fleeing the famine.

2. The Eurasian Robin was one of my favorites birds to see in Ireland.  They are so darn cute!

3. The Barn Swallows were flying around the  Murrisk Abbey, there was a cow farm right next door to the ruins.

4.  The cows were a friendly bunch of critters, some walked over close to the fence.

5. Love this cute face, I think he/she wanted a treat.

6. These are some scenes taken during a walk from our Clifden hotel. There was a pretty cascade, the Chaffinch was hanging around the water, a sweet lamb and sheep and horse on the hill, some wildflowers.

7. A pretty male Chaffinch.

8. The little lamb was adorable, I love the black face and legs.

9. Sheep on a hill with trees leaning to the side, possibly from the wind.

10. The horse was in the same field with the sheep above.

11. This bird kind of gets lost standing on the rocks with leaves hanging down around it, I am sure it is a Grey Wagtail.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Hi Eileen,
This is a nice series of photos from your trip.
I really like the robin, the barn swallow and the chaffinch.
The lamb in photo 13 is also great.

Good morning Eileen. There are some very familiar birds there. And even the cows look like old friends of mine that I see on my trips to farms. Grey Wagtail it is. It is quite common now for people to confuse Grey Wagtail and Yellow Wagtail but you are spot on. Thanks for the link today and enjoy your weekend.

Dear Eileen,
I really enjoyed seeing Clifden and the animals there through your eyes. During our 2015-trip to Ireland we also passed through Clifden, but we saw completely different things there than you - apart from cows, we also saw them there 😊 (Perhaps you are interested? Here's my post: https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2015/11/irland-reisebericht-irlands-einziger.html )
I am very happy that you saw such an adorable robin and were able to photograph it so close. The little sheep is really cute!
Sunny June greetings 🌸☀️🌸 and all the best,

Hi Eileen,
I am really enjoying your photos taken on your wonderful visit to Ireland. In this post my favorite things are the introduction to Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage and your shot of the so cute Eurasian Robin. The cows are pretty cool too. 😊 Thank you for sharing your photos and info about your trip. I’ve been very slow to get a new post together on John’s Island and don’t have a link to add to today’s Saturday’s Critters. I hope to have one soon. Here is your report from Seattle: We’re having another cool June, just like last year, before we had the hottest July and August on record. So far, little effect from Canadian wildfires, like last year, but I do see it hitting the East and I hope it hasn’t been too bad for you in Maryland. Lastly, I would like to offer the following link to any readers who might be interested in learning more about Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage. I knew nothing about this place so I really appreciate your introduction. Happy Saturday and week ahead to you and yours.

Thank you John, for the comment and sharing the Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage link. We did have about 4-5 days of hazy/smoky skies, I did not stay outside for too long during those days. We are having cooler temps too, I can say I am missing those hot/humid summer days. Take care, have a great weekend.
