Saturday's Critters # 532

Welcome to Saturday's Critters! Hello and Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Time seems to fly by no matter what we do, these images are from late January. On Jan 19th we had about 6 inches of snow. The birds were enjoying the peanuts and suet nuggets I put out for them.

1. The Blue Jays are always first to arrive after I put out some food, they are piggies.  I think they sit in trees above our yard and wait for me to come outside.

2. Our snow covered deck with a White-throated Sparrow sitting on the railing waiting for some food. The winterberries are a pop of color, ready for some birds to eat.

3. The Mockingbird has been enjoying some suet nuggets, when it is not eating it is chasing away other birds from the food.

4. Looking out my window, I noticed 2 bunnies in our side yard. I hope they are finding food the ground was covered with snow. One bunny is almost hidden on the far left. The window blinds made this photo look strange.

5. Jan 26th Prettyboy reservoir has a layer of ice on top and little section of open water where the Canada Geese were paddling around.

6. I am happy to see we have had enough rain/snow to start filling up the reservoir after last year's drought.

7. After our walk to the lake, we are home to hear the male Cardinal banging on our front window. The female is sitting back further in the rhododendron watching her mate attack his reflection in the window.

8. Hubby and I enjoy working on 1000 piece puzzles on the bad weather days.  I loved this Toucan puzzle.

Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

Hello, the Jays and Cardinals are my favourite in this post.
The puzzle you built up is really awesome, not only for the Toucans, but also for the gorgeous flowers.
Have a nice peaceful weekend!

Hello Eileen,
You show us a beautiful series of photos.
I think the Blue Jays are really fantastic to see, they don't occur in the Netherlands, such a shame.
The puzzle is really beautiful, it is also a fun pastime.
I wish you a good weekend.
Greetings Irma

I'm glad we haven= not had snow like that Eileen. It has just been wet and windy here although it is sunny this morning. It's good to see so many birds enjoying the extra food you put out for them. Thanks for the link this weekend.

The blue jay will always be watchful.

Hello Eileen :=)
Your January images of your deck with all that snow looks lovely. You have some recent photos of the beautiful Blue Jays that are nice to see. The Eurasian Jay is just as greedy, but they are large birds and need more fuel than the smaller ones.I enjoyed seeing all the birds and your puzzle with the exotic Toucan mage and the beautiful flowers. What a lovely scene. What used to take me an hour to do now takes me a morning or afternoon, where does the time go, I'm sure I don't know.
Thank you for hosting Eileen.
All the best
Sonjia.

Thanks for hosting all the critters each week.

It certainly looks cold, Eileen. We had nearly 40˚C a couple of days ago and a few bushfires in the countryside. Fortunately a cool change came through. Lovely photos, especially the blue jays! Thank you for hosting and have a great new week (Nick)

Your deck is really beautiful and I love those winter berries. I have contemplated peanuts but know my squirrels would nab them before the birds! Maybe that's not so bad except they bury them in places I'd rather they not! That's a gorgeous puzzle -- looks a little tricky!

Hello Eileen, great nature captures and the sweet birds and critters that live in it! Mostly though what a fun filled and unbelievable winter so far, I just hope it keeps it up! We're back in a possible rain/snow mix for Tuesday but Wednesday it's going to be near 60's (yes I'm still in Minnesota the could be frozen tundra) so if any snow comes it won't last. Enjoy your week ahead Karen

So strange the way birds will fight with themselves at a window -- I guess they haven't evolved enough to understand glass and reflections. You do have wonderful yard birds in all seasons.

Jill Harrison said...

I can only but imagine having my backyard covered in snow. Unimaginable here in Western Australia. So I enjoy snowy images this year. It has been a hot summer but we are starting to feel the last few days the effects of autumn creeping in. It has been a relief after the summer. I am sure your birds are enjoying the food you put out for them. Enjoy your week, stay warm!

And of course, I enjoyed each scene here. With the birds, with the landscapes. This week has been turbulent... The internet is too slow, it's tedious. Nevertheless, I don't want to miss out on looking at the individual posts, which I really enjoy as always.

And I'm delighted with your contribution to

Good morning Eileen, what beautiful photos of nature and critters, and I was so lucky last weekend to spot a bald eagle fly right in front of me while I was driving on a roundabout so of course I couldn't take a photo, but the memory is with me forever!
