Saturday's Critters # 557

Welcome to Saturday's Critters! Hello and Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are various images from different days, mostly my backyard birds, a few from our walks on the NCR bike trail, the Hashawha Nature Center and our local fire road walks with Winnie the grand-dog.

Click on images for better viewing.

Backyard birds and blooms, the Gray Catbird and the Eastern Bluebird at the birdhouse.

Scenes from our walk on the NCR Trail, I always greet the dogs I see during our walks. I believe this handsome Labrador was named Noah.

The birds below are from the NCR trail, White-breasted Nuthatch, Carolina Chickadee, Indigo Bunting, Eastern Phoebe and Turkey Vulture.

Backyard birds on June 14, the Peacock still comes to visit us, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder, another shot of the Peacock perched on the swing set.

June 16th backyard deer, Peacock, Eastern Bluebird and a Downy Woodpecker.

June 16th, our walk at the Hashawha Nature Center

Back at home the Peacock standing next our car, a squirrel waiting for some food and a Tufted Titmouse on the fence.

Two Hairy Woodpeckers visit our deck often, they like the peanut suet nuggets I leave out on the railing.

Below more backyard birds, the Cardinal, Eastern Bluebird and the Brown Thrasher looking for food on the railing.

Backyard birds are the Brown Thrasher, the Northern Cardinal and the Peacock continues to visit.

July 2-4th we watched our grand-dog Winnie, she enjoyed going for walks on the local fire road.

July 11th, we had two black bears visiting our yard. They walked up on our deck, around our cars and yard. They stopped and ate some our blueberries off the bush. If you enlarge the image below, you can see just a small part of the second bear, on top left image I circled it with a red marker. BTW, I have taken down my bird feeders years ago,  I was tired of seeing the squirrels eating all the food.

I hope you enjoyed my birds and critters.

I am linking up to Heidrun's Mosaic Monday  I hope you can stop by and visit Heidrun and check out the Mosaic Monday post.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your past and present comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves and respects wildlife. Thank you for linking up a critter post.

Hello Eileen.
Again a great collection of photos of different birds. The dog is cute. The bear is awesome. Were you afraid of that bear?

Very enjoyable. Thank you!

Hello Eileen,
A great series of photos of your walks.
The eastern blue jay, the cardinal bird I really like.
Oh my god two wild bears in your garden, we only see this in a zoo, there are no bears in the wild here fortunately.
I wish you a good weekend.
Greetings Irma

Love the Peacock, absolutely elegant and graceful.
The bears are big visitors...😉
Recently a Lynx went through our courtyard, sniffing some rabbit, perhaps.
Happy weekend and thanks for sharing!

That peacock is huge. And beautiful, and ohhh, Peanut´s cousin!
The Cardinal is... wow.
Oh, the bears. A bit scary - wild teenagers?

Wow - bears... am in two minds, just as with the foxes here. Fabulous to watch, but not necessarily the place one wants to watch them! Sorry, don't have a link to add today - been in Edinburgh and only people, people, people... YAM xx

Hello Eileen,
You have so many animals who visit your yard. The Peacock is so beautiful. I had been afraid of the Black Bear. I hope they are friendly. Take care, and have a great weekend!

Good Morning, dear Eileen. Today I'm later than each Saturday before. We sleep longer and had a delicious breakfast. We have holiday ;)

And I enjoyed your post again. The visits of the birds is such a lovely thing. But seeing a bear nearby? Wow, I would fear him. Now, I wish you a wonderful week and thank you for sharing.

Hugs by Heidrun

Oho, dear Eileen, you have fascinating garden visitors! The most impressive of course are the bears... Is that a bit scary for you or just an interesting visit? Also all the beautiful birds and the deer and squirrels - there is a lot of living nature in your backyard - I love to see this! The peacock is an attractive visitor, especially when it does its cartwheels for you. Very sweet to see your granddog again. I loved virtually being at home with you and on your walks!

All the best and have a nice weekend, Traude

OMG!! I know small for a bear but they are BIG! Yikes!! And just cruising around your house!!!!! I would be freaking out!

Shiju Sugunan said...

Wow, incredible wildlife encounters! Your backyard is a birdwatcher's paradise. Did the bear cause any damage?

Penelope Notes said...

There is wildlife aplenty in and around your backyard haven but seeing black bears so close to humans always seems a bit unsettling, although they are simply seeking to feast on blueberries and maybe even some birdseed. :)

Alexandra said...

I would pay a nice fee just to sit on your deck for a couple of hours and enjoy the nature that surrounds your place! That is until the bears show up!!!

MadSnapper said...

bears and bears and dogs and flowers, oh my! you have it all today. add in the Peacock, and I think he needs a name. like Phil or Pete or Paul or Perry... I wonder if he flies in a tree when he sees the bears... love your deck.

David M. Gascoigne, said...

I am glad that the bears caused no damage. The presence of birds feeders must be a bit of a magnet for them. Do you need to carry bear spray when you go for a walk?

Bill said...

Beautiful photos, Eileen. Thanks for hosting and have a nice weekend.

Muito lindo tudo! beijos, ótimo fim de semana! chica

Thanks David, I was happy to watch the bears from inside my house. We are surrounded by forest here and the lake is a short distance away. The bears will run away if they see us coming, at least the one time we saw one off the trail. My bird feeders have been down for years, I was tired of seeing the squirrels eating all the food. I appreciate your link and comment. Take care, have a great weekend.

Buntings are pretty rare in our part of the country, it is always a treat to see them. Peacocks, although fascinating, I certainly do not want one as a neighbor. So noisy! And the bear sightings are over the top, Great to see them once in a while, but not every day.

Hello Eileen :)
Such a gorgeous assortment of birds on your deck. I suppose living surrounded by forest land it is inevitable that you see so much wildlife. I must admit that I was surprised to see a peacock, and the bears. Jenn once told me that she frightens away the bears that prowl around her property by banging two pan lids together. It made me L O L, but it must be fantastic to watch them from the safety of your home. Lovely shots of Winnie, she must really enjoy her walks along the Fire- Road
Thank you for hosting Eileen
Enjoy your weekend
All the best
Sonjia.

I wouldn't want bears visiting me too often, Eileen. They look like they had not a care in the world.

what an awesome group of pictures!! love, love, love those bluebirds and how about those peacocks, amazing!! i can't believe those bears are right there on your deck!! it's good that you took down your feeders, sad for the birds and you but maybe that will keep the bears away!!!

The Peacock must be an escapee from a nearby farm. It seems to have adopted our little neighborhood, everyone looks after the bird. These bears scare so easily, all they have to do is see us looking and it will run off.
Take care, have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you RedPat, for your critter link and comment.
It is not often the bear some to visit, the time before last it got into our trash can.

you have a wonderful collection of birds that visit your yard - even a peacock! But I am not sure I would be wanting a black bear hanging around. Aren't they very dangerous? I would be running inside and locking all the doors. Can you put some sort of bear deterrent? Stay safe, have a great week and thankyou for visiting my blog this week.
