Happy Thankful Thursday!

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Go away Hurricane Florence!  I hope everyone who is in the path of Hurricane Florence stays safe .

These are images from our walk to our lake on Labor Day Sept 3rd. It was a pretty sky day with puffy white clouds but hot and humid. I heard a few birds along our walk, a few Eastern Wood Pewees, White-breasted Nuthatches, Pine Warbler and the knocking of some woodpecker all heard but not seen.

It was a pretty sky day, white puffy clouds here and there.

Butterflies were the Monarch and various Swallowtail butterflies.

Just before the trail ended at the lake we saw one tree with red leaves.

One lone fishing boat on the lake.

There was one red leaf tree on the edge of the lake.

I am thankful to live so close to the lake, just a walk away.

Shenandoah National Park

Happy Monday, have a great day!

These are some images from a recent day trip to Shenandoah National Park. We enjoyed the drive on Skyline Drive, hiked on the Limberlost Trail and a walk on the Big Meadows to see the flowers and butterflies.

We saw lots of deer along the Limberlost Trail.

Eastern Bluebirds were a nice sighting at the Big Meadows.

Mushroom seen along the trail.

We saw lots of butterflies during our Big Meadows walk.

Some more photos from Bombay Hook NWR, the Great Blue Heron was chasing away another heron while he was trying to eat his fish.

Belted Kingfisher, I think this is the male. The female has a rust colored breast band.

The Snowy Egret tree, they look like decorations.

I cropped the photo above so I could make sure these were the Snowy Egrets, so I could see their yellow feet.

This tree has the Kingfisher on the left and the Egrets on the right.

Two Night Herons, I am not sure if they are the Yellow-crowned or the Black Crowned?

A cool shot of the Great Blue Heron.

The Eagle nest with a Bald Eagle sitting below and off the the right.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

These are images from our visit to Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Smyrna Delaware.  We had bird sightings galore and a beautiful sunset.

A view of the marsh land, in the distant tree there is an eagle nest. You can make their nest in one of the taller bare trees. A Great Blue Heron is standing close the the grasses.

American Avocets, the have a thin curved bill and they are white with black wings.

Osprey has a meal below.

Below are two Great Egrets easily id with their yellow bill, dark legs and feet. The Great Blue Heron has a fish it was trying to eat.  I am not sure if the smaller bird is a juvenile Little Blue, it's beak looks dark at the end. The Snowy Egret has a dark bill.

A plane from the Dover Air Force base with the moon behind.

The sunset and a pretty reflection.

Bombay Hook NWR, Delaware

Hello & Happy Monday!

Happy Labor Day!

Can you believe it is September already? The days and weeks are flying by. I am sharing some recent photos of an overnight trip to Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. We spent the night in nearby Dover Delaware. The shorebirds are on the move, we saw lots of Herons, Egrets,  flowers and the Slider Turtles.

On the way, I found a sunflower field next to the road.

A green heron playing peek a boo.

Egrets were plentiful around the wildlife drive.

Egrets and various shorebirds.

A juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron

Some cardinal flowers growing at the edge of the marsh land.

Some slider turtles, one has a different view.

Pretty unknown wildflowers.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.
