Around the yard

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

Where does the time go? It seems the weeks are flying by, Christmas is next week. The Winter Solstice is on Dec 22nd, it marks the shortest day and longest night. The first day of winter, we have been enjoying somewhat of a mild dry November and December so far. I love the warmer weather if only it would stay warm.

I am a little short on fence shots this week but I noticed the fence seen behind the Blue Jay on my deck. Also, I am sharing some moon shots taken from Nov 27th through Dec 6th. I hope you enjoy my post.

The Blue Jay was helping to clean up the mess that the squirrels left on our deck.

The moon setting, various shots from Nov 27 through Dec 6th.

These images of the moon were taken later in the morning on Dec 6.

I  love taking photos of the moon and my Canon SX40IS is awesome for moon shots. Thank you for stopping by and most all for the nice comments. Have a happy day and weekend ahead..

MishMash

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

I am sharing a mish-mash or medley of images from October and November. Most of these images are from our neighborhood or the bike trail, some yard birds and moon captures.

I have not yet shared my hubby's shot of the super moon taken on Oct 26. It is beautiful. The moon is rising over the watershed forest and our lake.

On the same evening as above the moon's reflection on our lake.

A mosaic of a Northern Flicker seen on a tree across from our driveway. Not the best shots, I took them from our kitchen window.

Some of my backyard and feeder birds, top row a female Purple Finch, Downy Woodpecker. Bottom row a Carolina Wren and the Carolina Chickadee.

Scenes from the NCR bike trail. Top row is a Great Blue Heron next to the river and a white barn. Bottom Row is the Gunpowder River and another barn.

For Tom's Barn Collective we see many barns and farm land around our Mason-Dixon area neighborhood. These cut-outs are popular around our neighborhood, this one above reminds me of the Marlboro Man.

Last but not least, my Great Nephew Neill who just turned 2 and his new baby sister Sonja.

I hope you enjoyed my mish-mash post and images. As always I appreciate your visits and nice comments. Thank you! Have a happy day and new week ahead!

Saturday's Critters #104

Saturday's Critters #104

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.

I am sharing some of the birds from the Blackwater Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. We stopped here for a quick visit on the way home from the beach.. It breaks up the drive home, we took a walk on the Marsh Edge Trail and drove on the wildlife drive.

It is nice to see the White Pelicans enjoying Blackwater NWR. I think there was a count of 40-50 White Pelicans. Their numbers increase each time I visit.

There was a good number of Tundra Swans also seen from the wildlife drive.

We also saw the Canada Geese, we were a little early to see the Snow Geese.

A number of Great Blue Herons were seen from the drive.

Lesser or Greater Yellowlegs?

Not the best shot of the White Pelican in flight with some Terns, maybe Forster's Terns? I hope you enjoyed coming along with me to Blackwater NWR. As always thanks for the visits and the nice comments. I also thank everyone who is linking up and sharing their critters.. Happy Saturday, have a great weekend!

More from Ocean City, Maryland

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

For my Skywatch Friday and Good Fences I am sharing another sunrise from our Ocean City hotel. We had an ocean front room with great views. Some more beach and fence scenes in Ocean City and at the Delaware Indian River Inlet.

Some clouds floating in front of the rising sun at Ocean City, Md.

For Tex's Good Fences we walked around Ocean City's inlet, usually I can find some great shorebirds or gulls around the jetty.

A look at the pretty sky and an amusement ride near Ocean City's inlet.

A Dark-eyed Junco perched on a fence at Sunset Park, Ocean City.

I found a White-throated Sparrow also in the Sunset Park, Ocean City.

I have always loved this bridge design at Delaware's Indian River. I hope you enjoyed our visit to Ocean City, Maryland. Thank you for stopping by and most all for the nice comments. Have a happy day and weekend ahead..

My World

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

Happy Hanukkah to all that celebrate!!

I wanted to wish a very Happy Birthday to both my son who will be 23 on Dec 7 and to my hubby who's birthday is Dec 10th..

These are some images from my walk with hubby to the lake on Nov 8. We had a pretty blue sky, some ducks flying and landing on our lake and juvenile Bald Eagles flying over. We never know what we will see while on our walks to the lake and on the fireroads.

I was able to watch various flocks of ducks flying in during our walk to the lake. The shot above seems to be more Mallards but there are a few Buffleheads mixed in.

I like how the sunlight lit up these yellow leaves on the trees, ground and fireroad.

Above we saw two juvenile Bald Eagles flying near the lake, I was only able to catch a distant fly by shot. More ducks flying around the lake and some more Buffleheads came in for a landing.

Juvenile Bald Eagle flying over the lake and our heads.

Berries seen along the fireroad.

A view of the lake from the end of the fireroad. The bare deciduous trees standing in front of the pine trees across the lake. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your visits and nice comments. Have a happy day and new week ahead!
