Outer Banks Pelicans

Hubby and I arrived home yesterday after spending three and half days in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. My first time there and I loved it, the waves were wild and rough but the skies were a pretty blue. The road (route 12) was closed earlier due to high water in many places. Once they opened the road we were able to drive all the way down to Cape Hatteras.
We saw a lot of brown pelicans and I loved watching the pelicans as they flew all around us. Pea Island is a great place for birding.

I am linking up with Sally's Blue Monday and That's My World.

My thanks to Sally for hosting Blue Monday and to the hosting group of That's My World.
Also, thanks for stopping by to see my post.

Oh I LOVE Cape Hatteras. We spent two summer vacations in Buxton. No crowds - just sun and sand.

Pelicans are one of my fave birds ... I don't get to see them often enough!

The brown pelican looks like a large bird and that beak is very impressive. I like the sky and landscape at Outer Banks, very pretty!

Beautiful shots. I plan to visit there in the next few years, although it does look windswept and chilly here.

Your pelicans are so different from ours. Ours have black and white plumage and yellow and bl=ue markings on their bills.

A soothing post.
