On these cold dreary winter days I have been enjoying my colorful yardbirds. The Bluejays and the Cardinals really add some color to my yard. Their blue and red colors remind me of the pretty flowers that will be popping up in spring. Yes, I am thinking of and wishing Spring will come here fast. Neither of these two birds migrate so they are here year round and providing pretty colors to my yard. At times there are quite a few of the jays acting like piggies eating the peanuts I put on my deck railing.
Surprisingly just as many or more Cardinals both males and females are also visiting my feeders. The Cardinals look breathtaking in any snowy backyard. Come spring my Cardinal couple will chase off any other Cardinals that visit my yard. They are very territorial when it is their mating and breeding season.
I am linking up with Mary's Mosaic Monday and Sally's Blue Monday . I hope you will join in with these fun memes. Thanks to Mary and Sally for hosting and thank you for stopping by my post. Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteI love your bird mosaics...it's easier to see these in the winter months! I've been taking my binoculars to the park to get a better view of the birds! Today I saw a phoebe...and many of the usual birds that we see here in Florida! ♥

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favourite birds and probably the nosiest too.
As much as we like to bird watch, they often are people watching, aren't they?
Great collages and captures.

Great pictures of your BLUE and RED birds, Eileen... Today, my son visited us --and he brought his camera hoping to get some good pictures of the birds... He DID --and sent me some pictures tonight that he took while here today... Guess what he got a picture of??? A PINE SISKIN... I hadn't seen one here at all this winter --and he comes for ONE day and sees one... How funny is that!!!!!

Oh what gorgeous shots of the birds!! I didn't know that little tidbit about cardinals being territorial. I've seen more than a few of both females and males alike in our yard. Are they only like that in the mating season? ~ Sue
ReplyDeleteI want it to come, spring. Lovely birds, Bluejays and Cardinals, beauties.
ReplyDeleteThe blue Cardinal is certainly a beautiful bird. I don't see those in winter here. Great mosiacs.

ReplyDeleteYou don't give yourself enough credit, Eileen! Your photography is beautiful! My sister just started a birding blog and I'm encouraging her to participate in Mosaic Monday. I sent her your link as it's so inspiring. Nice work. And thanks for visiting Cottage and Creek and for your nice comment.

ReplyDeleteOMG! SO cuttteeee :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird shot, Eileen. We see alot of cardinals in Ohio, but rarely see a blue jay. BTW which blog is your main blog? I'm never sure where to visit....
ReplyDeleteThey are so lovely, Eileen, and can certainly add such charm and color to the winter landscape!
ReplyDeleteEileen, as I was concern a week ago why no birds come to visit my bird feeder last week I had a ball with all the birds that come and ate. I saw two birds which I don't know the name yet but the woodpecker and cardinals are those that I am familiar. Till now haven't seen blue jays yet I wonder why.
ReplyDeleteBlue Monday
My cardinal
So many lovely shots of this colorful birds! I especially like that Cardinal with his tail in the air. lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, Gorgeous shots of the songbirds! Just lovely! You and I have similar birds in the yards. I hail from the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee at about 1,800 ft. elevation in a hardwood forest on a lake. I originally am from Southern California so I am especially captivated by all the wildlife we have here in Tennessee. Your blogs are great! Have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to see such lovely birds in your yard. thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteOh my what a beautiful capture you got for cardinal and blue jay. I've seen this two in our backyard but its too cold to go out and beside surely fly away before i get out of the door

ReplyDeletewonderful photographs such pretty birds and very common here in upstate ny but I never tire of seeing their colorful faces aroun.
ReplyDeleteEileen
ReplyDeleteYour yard birds are fabulous! I was glad to see (and hear!) Blue Jays at our son's house in Missouri last month. I love our Green Jays of course, but would trade a few for a Blue Jay--it's been years since we've had one in our yard.
Your photos are terrific. I'm trying to figure out how to make a mosaic like yours (I'm technically challenged).
Kay
What beautful birds. You are so lucky, especially the brilliant cardinal. We don't have either of those, but snow geese stop by not too far from where I live in Seattle. They are amazing, great clouds of birds/
ReplyDeleteI like your concept. Nice framing and grouping. :)
ReplyDeleteI like both birds and your mosaics, Eileen. Cardeinal are my favorite birds!
