Saturday Critters #88

Saturday Critters #88

Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party. I am sharing my backyard Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. They will be leaving soon, heading south for the winter. I will be so sad when they go.

My Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have been keeping me busy making sugar water for their feeders. I seem to re-fill them daily, sometimes twice a day. The feeder above has 4 hummingbirds on it, one bird is not seen except for it tail on the other side of the feeder. And I have three feeders on my deck, I try to keep them all happy birds.

All of my bird photos are usually taken from my dining room window, so they are not the best images.

A cute Indigo Bunting poses on my shepherd's hook.

I have been very happy to keep seeing the Indigo Bunting in my yard this summer.

My Youtube Hummer video..very short

I've been busy the last two days and may have missed visiting some of my favorite blogs, I decided to join some other bloggers and slow down my own blogging. I am not stopping just slowing down. That will mean less random blog hopping. Saturday's Critters will continue and I will continue some of my favorite meme hookups. As always I appreciate my blogging friends stopping by just for a visit and for leaving a comment. I will always visit the participants that are linking in with my Saturday's Critter meme and I will return a visit to anyone that comments on my post. Thanks to all who have been participating with my Saturday's Critters, you are all the best blogging friends.

To see more beautiful birds and cute critters, check out these two memes below.

Hi Eileen

Happy Saturday to you Eileen!
At last I've got something to share with you for Saturday's Critters!

I'm admiring your hummingbirds and have seen them on other blogs lately.
What sweet little birds and I'm fascinated by the purpose designed bird feeders for their long beaks!
As I always say, I wish we had the great variety of birds you have in the States. For some reason when NZ was colonised, the first settlers didn't bring birds with them....

I always appreciate your bird life photography!

Good Morning Eileen. Thank you once again for sharing your day with us. If you feel like slowing down your blogging a little then you do. Blogging is a big commitment in time and effort and I think I know exactly how you feel when blogging seems to take up too much time.

As always I enjoyed your pictures today, especially the Indigo Bunting.

Love all your bird images Eileen :)
Especially the one of the hummingbirds
at the feeder and the one with the bird
on a bird :))

Have a happy and sunny weekend!

Your photos are always great, Eileen! It's so interesting (and amazing) to see how many beautiful birds there are in your yard. This time my favourite is the second photo; it's just magical!
Saturday's Critters is a lovely link party and I would love to join it more often, but I don't seem to have good critter photos very often. However, I'm always happy to see yours and those of the other participants.
Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Eileen--I would love to know how you get four hummers to sit together without trying to kill each other. It is just constant wars around here---none of them seem to get along with each other. You're fortunate to have nice ones-LOL!
Have a good weekend

Hummingbirds look so sweet and peculiar with their long beaks. We don't get them here - I guess our climate is too chilly for them.

Great Hummingbird photos!
By mid-September we will have migrating birds at our feeders along with the Hummingbirds we've had all Summer. Then suddenly they will all leave at once. We leave the feeders out until November in case a few more come by.
Have a great week-end!

A very pretty series of birds but I am partial to the humming birds. I don't get to see them but rarely and my first sighting of them felt magical. Thanks for hosting Eileen and have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning Eileen
It must be exciting to see more than one hummer on a feeder at once. I haven't put sugar water out for a while since I have a number of nectar friendly flowers in bloom.

Love it!
I have a hummingbird tale to tell if I ever catch the photo I need.
Happy Saturday!

your hummers are so sweet!

i hope you enjoy stepping back a bit. i find it very difficult on the days i have to skip reading a bunch of blogs as i simply can't keep up. i miss having more time to stay with everyone. alas, life doesn't always let us meander thru our days. :)

Hi Eileen,
Good Morning!
The Indigo Bunting on the cutout wins the photo competition hands down.
Your Ruby Throated Hummers are very good looking.
Nice photos and write-up as usual!
Thanks for hosting.
Have a Beautiful Weekend!!
Peace :)

I think your pictures are amazing and your windows must be sparkling clean, Ha! I take mine through the window much of the time as well and guess which window gets cleaned more often than others. We have the Ruby throat humming birds as well ... at least two families in the area. They take a while to empty their feeders, in fact, I usually change them out so their nectar is fresh not because they have emptied it. And I am envious of your Indigo Bunting. We had one try to settle in my neighbors bird house, but it didn't stay. I usually have to go to the state park to spot one. Lovely pictures all, Eileen, as always.

And Oh My, isn't that Indigo a handsome one!
Thank you for Saturday's Critters Eileen!

oohhhh eileen, so many hummers, i am not getting many this year. in fact, i think i only have one. next year i am going to increase my feeders, and replace the ones i have and perhaps plant some plants that attract them. the one i had suctioned to the office window keeps falling off, and we have ants and bees!! next year, more effort!!

your backyards birds are so beautiful, and i enjoyed the short video. i know you will fill your extra time with lots of fun activities!!! have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Great shot of the bunting on the shepherd's hook, Eileen! I take a lot of pictures through my windows, too, the trick is to have clean windows, lol. Love the hummers! I saw a Ruby-throated Hummer yesterday, so they are already on their way south from some places. I hope yours stay longer :)

It makes sense to me....blogging takes a lot of time. And there is much MUCH more to life that posting photos, blogging, and visiting others. I went from posting every day to now one or two posts a week, AND I FEEL BETTER for doing so.

Love the bird on the iron bird photo best of all today.

Linda W. said...

Nice hummingbird photos! Those guys move so fast they're difficult to capture.

Oh goodness they're all wonderful, but your shot of the Indigo Bunting at your shepherd's hook is very cool. You have a bird paradise about you. Enjoy your day!

Adrienne said...

Love that second shot - hummer close up! So pretty! One of my favorite things about visiting my mother in law each summer is her love for the hummingbirds - she has several feeders and so many flowers and we enjoy visits from many hummers all day! Love your link up - thanks for hosting - I know it's a lot of work, and I appreciate that you take the time to visit each time I link up!

I love the photo of the indigo bunting on the metal bird! The humming birds are so beautiful

I wish I would get more than one hummer to feed at the same time. There are at least three who frequent my feeders but they all chase each other away so only one will feed at a time. I love it when you see dozens of them at multiple feeders. That's always such a treat! Really nice photos, Eileen, and video!

You have some very colorful birds hanging round your place. I think your photos are great even shot through the window.

You are ne of the best blog citizens I know! Don't blame you for slowing down a bit. Thanks for all you do! Your hummers and buntings are so sweet. I have been trying all summer to get a hummer picture!

Hi Eileen, I'm sorry to hear you are slowing down but as someone who has spent years visiting countless blogs and commenting I certainly understand why. I have also slowed down in my posting but like you will continue.

You are so blessed to have so many beautiful birds where you live and to have them come to your yard is extra special. It is wonderful that you mix up the syrup for those beautiful little hummingbirds. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Great hummer pictures Eileen... Maybe I should put my feeder up again. It wasn't getting much use. But I guess this is the time of year when they start migrating. The indigo Bunting is beautiful. I've never seen one here. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Hi Eileen, Congrats on another fine Saturday's Critters. Thanks for being the CEO for this meme! :-) I noticed you mentioned slowing down. I have done that over the summer and found it to be quite a good thing. Although we love blogging, blogging every day, or nearly so, can become a bit stressful. Take care and have a good week ahead.

Love the Indigo Buntings as well, birds I will probably never get to see in my lifetime, except at your wonderful blog. Many, many thanks for hosting!
