Bombay Hook NWR

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

I am sure some of you have already seen these images on my facebook page weeks ago.I have a few of my post scheduled ahead of time, this was from an earlier trip on Aug 5th, hubby and I went to Bombay Hook NWR, we drove the wildlife drive twice. We had to stay in the car during the whole visit, the skeeters and flies were horrible. So all my photos were taken from the car window.

Above the Orchard Oriole family seen at Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware.

A juvenile Orchard Oriole is waiting on the adult male for food.

The mosaic above has my favorite Green Heron on the top row and the bottom are the juvenile Little Blue Herons and a Great Blue Heron all seen at the Finnis Pool almost at the end of the wildlife drive at Bombay Hook NWR.

The Green Heron will always be one of my favorite herons. For our viewing enjoyment this Green Heron sat in the same spot for quite a while.

Above are the Great Egrets and some Snowy Egret along with the American Avocets.

My NF tree is decorated with Egrets and a couple of Tri-colored Herons. On this day the Egrets were the most common bird during our visit.

Thanks to Judith our  host of Mosaic Monday

Thanks to Monica for hosting NF Trees

Thanks to Michelle for hosting Nature Notes

Thanks to Mersad for hosting Through My Lens.

Thanks to Stewart for hosting Wild Birds Wednesday

I hope you enjoyed our daytrip to the wildlife refuge. As always thank you for visiting my post and for the nice comments. Wishing everyone a happy Monday and new week ahead!

Hi Eileen, Wonderful pictures of the Orchard Orioles (so beautiful) and the exciting Green Herons. Great pictures. Sorry you had bug troubles but it is that time of year. My friend politely reminded me to keep bug spray or repellant cream in my car's glove box so I'd have some when I was near swamps or marshes and mosquitos/no see ums. Have a pleasant coming week! Happy birding!

The diversity of wildlife is mindblowing. I wonder if there is an App that would recognise various species and identify them for people like me who know little?

That must be a fantastic place to visit if you can see and photograph all those birds from the car. Great photos and I especially like all those water birds with their reflections in the water.

It would seem we have green herons in Ontario from the talk the guy at the lavender farm gave so now I'm on a mission to see one here. My first was in Florida and of course always cute guys on your blog to enjoy.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Eileen.

I think the Oriole not only has a great name, but also looks so pretty.
I take it the yellow one is the adult and the brownish one is the youngun.

I find this is the best way to do blogging any more....as you say it saves time and gives us all a few more hours in the day beside visiting blogs and publishing.

Love all the images today...but I find a favorite in all of them, and that is the adult orchard oriole with the anxious feeding of the juveniles. Colorful image.

Hi Eileen. Your oriole shot is very intriguing. It seems that the young orioles look nothing like the adults, even down to their basic colouration. Your photos present a good learning toll for budding birders.

The Green Heron picture is an absolute winner - love it.

the egrets looks like large Magnolia flowers on the tree :) Love it.

Wow! I loves to capture birds. Unless I invest in a good camera. I will not be to do it at this moment. Nevertheless, it is always very enjoyable watching birds flying and moving around. :)

These are all so wonderful my friend and I think that presenting them for the different memes is so much easier and less time consuming in a single post. I have done it both ways and used to post a few times a week and I find it near impossible anymore, so one blog post a week it is for me, and catching the memes at the same time, then catching up is done for me on Thursday as best that I can~
