Hello Monday, have a great week! Think happy! These are images are from around our yard and neighborhood, the lake is only a short walk away and on this day our grandpuppy Nibbles was visiting for a few days.
A few backyard birds, the Redbellied woodpecker, juvenile Cardinal and a Blue Jay.
Fungi seen during our walk, I was told it is called Chicken of the Woods.
Nibbles enjoying a view of the lake, she has not taken a dip in the lake yet.
The view of our lake, a trail thru the woods, ferns, moss and some fungi.
I am not sure if this is a fern or some kind of evergreen plant, it looks pretty on the forest floors and near the downed trees.
For Monica's NF Trees I am sharing our trail to the lake, it is a forest with mainly hardwood trees and some Virginia Pine trees. The forest floor is mostly ferns, it is a very pretty walk. These walks of ours have been done with our old dogs countless times over the 25 years we have lived here.
Grandpuppy Nibbles visited for a few days..I hope you enjoyed my post, Nibbles and our walk to the lake. Thanks for visiting and for the nice comments. Have a happy new week ahead!

Beautiful photos.
Greetings
Eileen--such wonderful photos today. The fungi are very very cool. And that juvenile cardinal looks a tad "rough", doesn't he-LOL!
Hope you have a terrific week
I'm loving the fungi - one of my friends regularly takes macro shots of various types here, so interesting to see the little grooves etc on each one.
What a very inviting trail. There are so many interesting greens along the way. The kake seem so serene, I'd love to sit by and just feel the nature. Your collages are neat!
Hello Eileen,
Nice shots!! Great that woodpecker.
And nice pictures on your last with that lovely dog.
Many greetings,
Marco

beautiful images, I love the fungi. Nature never fails to amaze me :)
Your grand pup has a very sweet face Eileen. Love your latest photos, a wonderful walk in the wood.
Lovely photos as always! I love your grand doggie. We have a grand doggie that we occasionally care for too. What an interesting fungi! Wonder why it is called Chicken of the Woods?? The birds are such a treat to watch--we have a couple of juvenile cardinals that are visiting our feeders these days too.
Hi Eileen and Hi Nibbles. Nibbles is beautiful! All your mosaics are great and the wood fungi is very pretty!
Ah, Nibbles makes me miss Bridger, our GSD. Beautiful woods and bird photos, Eileen. I've always found fungi so fascinating!
Nibbles. Great name
Great photos :O)
Nibbles is beautiful.. and i like the photos of the chicken of the woods.. beautiful colors and photo. i am with you on the fern/evergreen what ever they are, they are beautiful and i love ferns. you have trees and ferns and what a great place to walk
Hi Eileen, the photos are awesome as always. I remember posting about hard fungi like the ones above, while I was in Mwadui. I just LOVE Nibbles. She is beautiful. Have a great day. Jo
I love all those, you do have some interesting plants in your neck of the woods.
I really lived these photos Eileen. Lovely woods you have, and lake area, fir walking.
Nibbles looks like she/he enjoyed the visit to gran and gramops too!
(Loved instead of lived . . . above.) (For, instead of fir.)
I'm still sifting through photos from the trip! I couldn't believe the birds, though!
Pretty scenes...the fungus is amazing. And of course, Nibbles. What a beauty!!!
Hi Eileen! Nice to see those pretty birdies and your forrest pictures! Chicken of the woods :) We called it as a kääpä.
Your lake looks so relaxing! Nice to share with Nibbles and grandpuppy Nibbles.
~
I like the forest and wild area you walk through to get to your lake Eileen - ours is along a road of cottages and a firehall and then just lake front for swimming with paths in the park. I'm surprised Nibbles hasn't been in the water yet, maybe he just needs a stick thrown in to retrieve. :-)
'Chicken in the woods' is a new one for me, wonder where that name came from? Fungi are neat to find and photograph though aren't they?
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
Cute pics of the birds and Nibbles!
I'll bet you had a fun visit with Nibbles..Your shady pictures made me feel a little cooler..I have heard the "Chicken of the woods" title before..Those little evergreens look like small evergreens that are sold in Nurseries..I forget their names..Those might just be seedlings??Pretty whatever they are..Enjoy your week..
What a beautiful place that lake is! Perfect for a walk. And Nibbles is just so cute. Love all these pictures. They capture the summer perfectly :)
Have a wonderful week, Eileen!
I like that...think happy! Beautiful lake and woods! The dog looks happy and so do the birds. We should take our cues from them! Great shots, Eileen, as always!
Great compositions indeed, thanks for sharing!
Nibbles is getting bigger. Beautiful dog! Gorgeous mosaics!
Those fern or evergreens are attractive.
Always fun to see Nibbles.
The plant growing along the log is Princess Pine. Tom The Backroads Traveller
Tom, thank you for the plant id. The name is fitting for the plant.
Nibbles is adorable! Have a wonderful week.
Hello Beate! Thanks so much for your visit and comment. Have a happy new week!
Some fantastic photo's here Eileen, and the mosaic's are great.
I especially like the Redbellied woodpecker, and Nibbles stole the show.
Have a lovely week
All the best Jan

lot's of good stuff today, i adore those woodpeckers!!!!!
Eileen, I really love those views of the trail in the woods with the ground covered with greenery and the light dappling through the trees. Sylvia D.
Great photos. You always do such excellent collages.
Awww...look at the little cardinal getting his color! Wonderful captures, Eileen.
Chicken of the Woods is a very interesting looking tree fungus, Eileen. I like the pretty ferns growing as ground cover--very green and sift looking. Nibbles is a very cute dog--it looks like he enjoys the walks you take with him. Have a good week!
A great series of photos. The lake and the woods look very beautiful and such a great place to walk. Beautiful birds also. Thanks for sharing.
I love that Woodpecker Eileen. What a great bird and as always and lovely post.

Very nice. I love the woodpecker !!
What a sweet looking dog.
My goodness, what wonderful pictures! You certainly had a grand walk i the woods. Have an equally wonderful week! Thank you for your visit!
Don't think I have seen fungi on a tree that color before. Used to have some that was very unusual looking that would come up for a short time in one of my flower beds. Nibbles is a pretty dog.
Thanks for stopping by. Yes the tall pink and the white are both crepe myrtles. The pink blooms down in front are knockout roses.
I've seen and photographed the chicken of the woods before but didn't know their name until now. Thanks.
Love the Red-bellied Woodpecker! They're one of my favorites.
lol, it´s fungi time :) Her too. they pop up one after another. Can´t help but love it.
You can't go wrong with a dog with a name like, "Nibbles", can ya?
Love all your photos, as always. This post no different!
The photo of the Red-Headed Woodpecker is superb - this particular bird should become a professional bird model :)
Have a Happy Week!
Peace :)
Nibbles is just so adorable! I like the sound of Chicken of the Woods! Never heard that before, but I like learning things like that. What a glorious world you've shared with us Eileen.
The yellow fungus is quite pretty.
Hi Eileen, So nice to catch up with you tonight after being away from my computer for a couple weeks. Sure missed everyone. Nibbles is adorable and looks to be really enjoying the walk. The ferns are beautiful. The view of the lake is so peaceful and calm. You captured great shots.
Have a nice week.
Hugs, cm
Wow...your photography is absolutely amazing and the mosaics are wonderful!
Great mosaics here. Loved the wood pecker and the Hen of the Woods fungi. Also Nibbles (cute name) is just adorable.
What a wonderful post Eileen! Of course your bird photos are super, and what a lovely trail walk you have nearby to enjoy. Nibbles looks like he enjoys his time with you!
I hope you'll pop by my blog- I have lots of birds to show you! :)
What a pretty lake, and that dog looks adorable!
Nibbles is cute. Those do look like chicken mushrooms...they are delicious to eat. If they are the chicken mushrooms, they are a polypore--the don't have gills. And when you tear one open, it looks similar to a chicken breast. We have eaten then a couple times.
Wow, what a lovely walk you and your grand puppy (?) enjoyed. Thanks for taking us along!
I love PicMonkey!
Enjoyed your photos. This reminds me so much of our walks through the woods around Pine Lake with our dog Ginger! We see a slightly different variety of shelf mushrooms, I think, but our lake is green too. This summer it is probably the worst ever in at least the past decade. Nibbles is a beautiful dog!
Oh, I love Nibbles! And I enjoyed the rest of the post too.
Pretty scenery!
Interesting mushrooms!
Handsome dog!
Have a great day!
Lea
your grandpuppy is precious! luv the woodpecker. ( :
Wow. What a gorgeous area! Great shots.
Excuse the gender error on Nibbles - he is really she. Just read the post too quickly. Sorry.
I LOVE reading your blog! Your pictures are amazing and I always learn something new. Today I was excited to see that I can solve your mystery.
The unknown fern ally is called Running Cedar or Club Moss (Diphasiastrum digitatum, but I learned it as Lycopodium digitatum which I like better :P)
Lol, it's awesome stuff
Wonderful photos... so good to see our beautiful world through the eyes of others!
Wonderful collage!
What a great place to walk your dog(s), Eileen. I love your mosaics this week - such lovely colours with the greens and the oranges of the mushrooms and dogs!
Such a sweet puppy! Your lake is beautiful, Eileen! Reminds me of the Adirondack mountains in New York State.
These are great shots!
Please come share them at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/08/double-play-on-way.html
Lovely photos as always Eileen :-)
Beautiful views Eileen especially the fungi....Nibbles is a cutie! Have a great week!
So beautiful and green there! I've heard that name for the fungi too... We see it in Florida. Your sons puppy is growing! Sweet!
Whatever those little tree fern things are growing near the forest floor, I sure could use a few thousand right about now, such a huge mess here now after the trees were taken off. Very nice entry, Nibbles is so cute, I know you enjoy him~
What a gorgeous place for a walk. There are so many amazing things in the world that we rarely take time to look at, like the fungi. The red-bellied woodpecker shot is great! Hope your week is going well.
I love your forest trail as well as everything else. :)
