Hello,
Happy Tuesday!
The Limpkin is a Florida breeder, it can be found from northern Argentina to Florida. The Limpkin's diet consists mainly of apple snails.
I have seen the Limpkins all around Florida, I can hear them while I am inside my house. That is how loud they sound, like an alarm going off.
In Florida, these birds do not seem to fear people. We have walked by them, while they stood on the trail or next to the trail.
The Limpkin makes some unusual sounds, some sounding down right awful.
I hope you enjoyed my photos and post. Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

I have never heard of this delightful creature and was curious to hear its call. My dog, curled up at my feet, lifted her head and perked her ears at the sound! If limpkins live here, I think I'd have a hard time getting her to come inside!
I love the images and video .. Congratulations and greetings
What an interesting bird! I don't think I've ever seen one. Another good reason for a trip to Florida! Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hoi,
I love this photos. Never seen this birds so it is very special for me. Thanks for sharing, Eileen!
They are cook critters to watch
...yet again a bird that I don't know!
during mating season they are even louder than the video. my friends condo was thinking of hiring a hit man for Limpkins last year when they were mating. they do make a racket
Good morning neighbor! Well, we went a long time before we saw one of these. They really blend in to their environment. But they do have quite a squawk! Wonderful photos! Enjoy your day. Hugs, Diane
Another wonderful bird and post, E! We are both so lucky to live with nature.

Your first shot is really great. Nice movie.

The bird is very nice, and issued the voice did not scare me. Regards.

Very cool shot, Eileen. And that sound...wow! Thanks for sharing. Always love to see your bird shots. Aloha!
Cool bird, I like his long beak!
Thanks for the introduction to the Limpkin! Now I need to find out what an apple snail is - a snail that eat apples I'm guessing?
Great shots Eileen, I've discovered another bird now! Ha ha, that call could certainly get a bit tiresome, but that's the same with our White Cockatoos - you learn to live with them eh!
Thanks for your lovely post, cheers :D)
These are great pics of this cool bird, Eileen!

Great photos of an interesting bird. From that video it has a really horrible noise! So many of the birds around my place are very noisy and I am glad I don't have that one as well.
Very cool bird, reminds me of our NZ shag..

hello,
Nice limpkin photos!
They are gorgeous,
Happy Wednesday :)
Now that is a rare bird! There must be an abundance of apple snails to keep a population alive. Impressive photos.
What a neat looking bird!
Love the first picture..I'm not familiar with Apple snails..guess I should Google it.. Enjoy this sunny day..
That first one, the close up portrait is EXCEPTIONAL Eileen.
Those are good pictures of the Limpkin-guess you were right, they don't fear people too much. They look fairly large, and, do sound like a sick alarm going off! But, I don't know what Apple snails are. Will have to look that up! Have a splendid day, Eileen!
I love the Limpkin, your shots are beautiful.
This is a new bird to me and thank you for the video.... Michelle
Loved your photos and video Eileen. I have never seen one of these birds before. Thank you for sharing.
The Limpkin is a handsome fellow, Eileen! They have a funny call - like a creaky door! I hope you have a good week. xx Karen
Oh, Eileen, that first shot is absolutely fabulous. There is just something about it.
handsome bird!
I love these birds -- I remember that when we saw our first ones here (this is our 9th Florida season) I couldn't find their picture to ID them.... somebody on Wild Birds are Us helped me out. Birders -- real and virtual -- are so helpful. (
Hi Eileen, Wow, I am almost as fond of the Limpkins as I am of the Wood Storks and woodpeckers! They are neat birds. I usually cannot find any around here in The Villages but I have spotted one at one park here a long time ago. They are rare here. Have a great Friday!
Beautiful images of this kind of bird!...
I love all the photos!
Kisses
Ana
you got all those beautiful kinds of critters there, Eileen..
