A video of my skywatch and the vultures flying in and out of the woods next to my house.
These are sunset photos from the 14th, I was on my deck watching the sky and these vultures flying in and out the woods. They are cool birds to watch soaring the sky. I read they have a keen sense of smell. Since hunting season has started on the reservoir property the vulture count has increased.

These are sunset photos from the 14th, I was on my deck watching the sky and these vultures flying in and out the woods. They are cool birds to watch soaring the sky. I read they have a keen sense of smell. Since hunting season has started on the reservoir property the vulture count has increased.
As the time passed the clouds turned a pretty pink and orange color. And I watched the vultures fly into the woods and land on the nearby trees. Once in a while I could hear them flapping them wings.

It is awesome just to watch birds and the sky, but an extra bonus to be able to photograph both.

Such lovely skies, perfect backdrop for the birds! We see dozens of birds like this flying around like crazy at sunset! Fascinating to watch, but I haven't gotten any captures as good as yours. Great post for the day as always, Eileen! Enjoy your weekend!

I'll bet they'd be useful if you got called away immediately after a backyard barbecue, but they're so big, one just might take your grill to the treetops.

What a beautiful shot of the sunset and the birds they look very big.
It has been very windy here in Ohio yesterday and today. It is also very wet and cold. The leaves are falling. The sky is a dark winter gray color. I can't seem to stay warm.

Those are nice birds and great to sea them in a moving scene against the sky.

Vultures are interesting critters. They soaring together is always a little ominous.

The raptors have returned to my neighborhood, time to start carrying my camera again.

It always amazes me how such ugly birds can have such beauty and grace while flying.
We have many vultures, too. I worry about the cats, but I guess they just eat dead things!
