Eagles and more

Hello, I am linking up with Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday.

Today is my birthday and I am wishing to see a new bird. A Common Redpoll or a Crossbill sighting would be nice. I do not wish for much do I ?

On Saturday, hubby and I took a ride up to the Susquehanna River to see the Bald Eagles. This is a great time of year to see lots of eagles and juvie eagles migrating besides the year round eagles.

There was one tree with five eagles but only these two were sitting close enough to get them in the same shot.

It is hard looking straight up into a tree for a good shot. The lighting is usually horrible.

After leaving the river we made a stop at the Susquehanna State Park picnic grounds. I loved the reflection of the trees in this pond.

A Kingfisher was sitting in a tree near the pond. Of course there were a lot of branches all around it. I am on a quest to get a decent Kingfisher photo.

A pretty female Dark-eyed Junco was also near the pond. Yesterday started off a cold and windy day but it warmed up by the time we reached the picnic grounds. Nice weather for a walk and some birding.

I hope you enjoyed my eagles and photos.
To see more wonderful photos and mosaics please visit Mosaic Monday and Our World Tuesday
Thanks to Mary of Mosaic Monday and to the hosting group of Our World Tuesday: Arija, Gattina, Lady Fi, Sylvia and Sandy .  Thanks also for stopping by to see my post.  I wish everyone a happy week!

Happy Birthday to you!!! I think those are wonderful birthday presents to wish for.....and I hope you find them. I know how exciting it can be:)

Like you, I constantly battle the light and a better chance to capture a Kingfisher in a picture. And course see the great American symbol of the Bald Eagle. I may get a chance at the end of the month. What a treat to see these birds all hanging out in the tree.

My favorite shot is of the trees reflecting on the water. That is incredibly gorgeous. So I hope you're not on this thing and out exploring:) Feliz cumpleaƱos!

You did get some great pictures - those owls are amazing and as for those reflections, lovely.
That was a bad accident you son had on his sledge. That must have given you a real fright. Glad to hear he recovered well.

Eileen, I hope that you've had a very happy day! Now I read your first two wishes there and said to myself...they look just like eagles to me. Now I'm laughing at how stupid I am. They ARE eagles. I have no idea what the others are, but will Google just to see.

Vee said...

Okay, I did that and now can see exactly why you'd like to see one. Oh my, that redpoll is some pretty as is the orange finch crossbill.

Why is it that birds turn their backs to us when we want to take their photo? and yes sometimes taking pics straight up into the tree is hopeless for lighting. Love the reflection images.
Have a wonderful week, and thanks for stopping by my blog today to say hi!

Great sequence!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Kingfishers are quite elusive. I'm still trying to get a decent shot.
Birds seem to enjoy teasing us by sitting with their back to the sun thereby being backlit.

Re your question. Morocco was a birding trip. The first one that went down to West Sahara. You will read about it later on. But as you porbably know by now I always try to get it all. There was not much birds to see actually. But a lot of other stuff.

Better late than never- Happy Birthday, Eileen, I hope it was a great one!
Wishes do come to so wish away!
I am in awe of the numerous Eagles you saw and captured.
We had quite few in a nearby state park until a hurricane destroyed the trees they nested in.
