I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes
I know I am no way near seeing all 35 Sparrow's . But, I have a few more I can add to continue with my Sparrow post.
More Sparrows from my archives.. I am sharing the LeConte's Sparrow.. It is a small sparrow with a large head. It has a buffy yellow-orange face with gray cheeks.
LeConte"s Sparrow was a special sighting. They more of a rare sighting to be seen in Maryland. The LeConte's Sparrow to me is one of the prettier Sparrows.
This is a shy Lincoln Sparrow hiding in the bush. I manage to get a shot of him peeking out. They are similar to the Song Sparrow with a brown cap and gray stripe in the middle. They also have a finer bill.
The Song Sparrow one of the most common sparrows I do see just about everywhere. The Song Sparrow has dark upperparts and streaks. Also, has the dark spot in the middle of its chest.
I try to throw in some descriptions of the sparrows I have seen maybe it will help with iding the sparrows.
Thanks for stopping by my post and for all the nice comments.

It's great to see some of these different Sparrows, and even though you may see the Song Sparrow everywhere, I like it in that setting you have which matches the bird nicely!
Its remarkable how some parts of the world have such a diversity of birds from single taxa - our parrots and honey-eaters, your sparrows.
The shearwater are a very abundant bird - so these deaths should not be a problem - although, the failure of a breeding season may be.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
I went birding with 2 ladies the other day that travel everywhere and they can ID all of the Sparrows, Warblers and I was watching a section of land that seemed to quake, there were so many little birds, and I was thinking all that I see are beautiful little birds ;) Sigh, I am not so good with ID's but your shares are wonderful!

i love the hiding shot. that is so great that you caught him/her in that bush. wild!! ( ;
I have enjoyed your sparrow photos and have never heard of the Le Conte sparrow. Thanks for sharing Eileen.
I enjoyed seeing the different sparrows from your sightings. The little whitish grey and shy sparrow must have been fun sightings.
It reached the forties here yesterday, with sunshine, I heard much more bird chatter and song. It felt like a spring like day.
I think the LeConte's Sparrow is absolutely beautiful. Awesome captures!
Glad to learn so much about the sparrows.
I love Sparrows, that's why I have enjoyed these images. These birds are always so cute and capable, that I love watching them in nature.
There sure are lots of kinds of Sparrows! Thank you for sharing.
love seeing them all. each as pretty as 'brighter' birds. :)
Nice shots! I especially like the sparrow in your last photo.
I'm impressed with your ability to identify the different sparrows you've seen. That really takes a good eye and keen observation of details.
You sure have seen quite a variety of sparrows! Great shots, I like the little Song Sparrow.
The Lincoln's also has fine streaking on the breast. It's a lovely little sparrow but I think I'm in love with them all. I am studying the Baird's sparrow this weekend with a researcher. You should come to Tucson where you can about half of those 35 sparrows!:) Pretty awesome birds.....especially LOVE your LE CONTE's.....oooo la la:)
They are very cute! I like the shot of the little one hiding in the bush. So sweet! Hope you had a nice weekend and have a good week ahead :)
How special to see the LeConte sparrow. Beautiful background behind the song sparrow. Once you know the difference, it's easier to spot them in the field. But it is a challenge!
Hello Eileen!I did'nt know there are so many kinds of sparrows!Very preety birds!Great shots!!Hope you have a happy week!Hugs!
Dimi...
Well--you are doing a good job seeing different sparrows. I've never heard of --or seen--a LeConte sparrow.. We do have a Mt. LeConte here in the Smokies... Wonder if that one comes from there????
I'm a little shaken. We had a near-miss-head-on car accident yesterday afternoon when a car was coming straight toward us in OUR lane. We swerved and went into the ditch. Luckily, we are fine and no damage to the car --other than being dirty. BUT--we were just lucky that the ditch wasn't steep…. SCARY!
Hugs,
Betsy
I had no idea there are so many different types of sparrows. Reading your blog is an education, as well as a treat for the eyes!
Song sparrows are so prevalent here and their song fills the air...your pix remind me that they will soon return!...:)JP
I like the first one. It looks very light coloured for a sparrow. Always learning from your blog.
They are cute little fellows.
Merle.........
I appreciate your showing us the different types of sparrows. I like to learn new ones to I.D.
Pretty sparrows, Eileen! I have only seen a LeConte's Sparrow once and was quite taken by its beauty. How nice that you saw this rare bird in your area. I hope 2014 brings you many more sparrow sightings! Terrific photographs!
Sweet Sparrows. We have an abundance of different Sparrows here and I sometimes have a hard time knowing which one I am seeing. Your descriptions are helpful. MB
Hi Eileen,
Sparrows are such adorable little birdies and you have captured them so well. My kitty loves to watch them by the feeder.
All we see here are House Sparrows. They are so tiny and always a challenge to get close too.
Cute little bird. Nice images!
Oh what a cute little thing he is.
always love seeing your birds thank you for sharing and for stopping by.
That first sparrow is sitting in an amazing tangle of limbs!
I am still amazed at all the different types of sparrows. While I am not a birder you may have me checking out sparrows this spring.
I've never seen either of these. Congratulations! I'd probably have a difficult time identifying them.
We have a lot of different sparrows here and it's sometimes hard for me to tell them apart. They've been keeping me busy filling the feeders!
Great post, Eileen!
Sparrows are quite challenging and you are really performing a great public service!
(How do you get them to pose so nicely??)
Sweet little guys!
I had no idea that there were so many different kinds of sparrows. I am used to just the little brown toned guy who enjoys sharing a crumb or two at cafes or in parks. Fascinating photos.
I like sparrows. They are really fast. Best regards, Synnnöve
Your sparrows are lovely!!
A lovely serie!
Nice to see!
Your Lincoln Sparrow looks very much like our Streaky Headed Seed-eater. I'm sorry I never posted on Saturday Critters. My Internet (for the month in Tz) ran out just as I was half-way through. Now we're off on a bike trip around SA. I'll be back sometime next week and hope to link up to WBW and your meme again. Jo
Oh dear!
That Song sparrow is gorgeous!
What a lovely picture with this smooth winter background!
you seem to have many more sparrow species than we do in France... I'll have to check!!
Keep well Eileen!
lovely to see all your sparrows. The LeConte's are such a pretty colour
geweldig mooi vooral de derde foto.
Except for the song sparrow, the others are new ones to me. Great captures Eileen!
Hi Eileen, Wonderful Sparrows! The LeConte family sure were interesting folks. Many scientists among that clan. A few birds were named for these folks in honor of their scientific and societal achievements. The Lincoln Sparrow also a neat bird. Have a wonderful day today!
still on my wish list.... a visit to the states to mop up on all the sparrows.
loved to see LeConte"s Sparrow. Never seen it before and loved the light colors of it.
i love my little sparrows!!
i always feel and say the same thing, they don't get near the attention they deserve. their markings are so intricate, they have way more detail then alot of the more brightly colored others!!
Lubię te ptaszki, które są z nami cały rok. Nasze są trochę inaczej upierzone. Pozdrawiam.
I like those birds that are with us all year. We are a little different feathered. Yours.
Oh great collection of sparrows Eileen.... Michelle
Sparrows sure can be tricky to identify. I hope to learn a LOT more about them this year - on of my goals for 2014.
A lovely song bird, well done Eileen.
how different is the LeContes sparrow; thanks for showing it to me Eileen
Quite an undertaking, correctly identifying sparrows. I do recognize those sweet little Song Sparrows when I see the,
Lovely photos! I find the tiny differences in the types rather amazing. They are pretty birds.
These are great captures. I don't know how people tell all those different kinds of sparrows apart. I'm very impressed.
I love those composition, with only the solitary bird inside the thickets and the wilderness, very beautiful.
Your skills are amazing! I don't like myself very well when I can only say a bird is a sparrow, for example)...and I try , but will never be as good as you are,
Especially the picture of latste sparrow is very beautiful.
You sparrows are better than those in the Netherlands :-)
Dearest Eileen;
Your sparrows are far more beautiful than I see in the rice paddies. The LeConte's Sparrow looks really cute; thanks for the word "buffy" p;)
The Song Sparrow is really proud looking for me♡♡♡
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my American friend, xoxo Miyako*
