I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes
It is very cold and windy, I hope everyone stays war and safe.. And I am wishing for warm weather to show up soon..
I am doing a second part to my previous Sparrow post..These photos are mostly from archives. Except a more recent shot of the House Sparrows..I read there are 35 types of sparrows..I have only just begun.. not sure where I am going to find all these sparrows..
This Savannah Sparrow was seen on the Delaware Shore.
The Sparrows are one species of bird that are hard for me to id.. So many sparrows look alike and the females make id-ing hard. I think this Dickcissel looks similar to the Savannah above.. They are found in different habitats, the beak looks different.
Edited: I found that what I thought was a Grasshopper Sparrow was actually a Dickcissel.. It looks like the sparrows.. SORRY!!
The snow has brought a lot of House Sparrows to my feeders.. I can look out and see 10 or more at a time.. They are year round birds and seem to be plentiful..
My only shot of the Swamp Sparrow was found in almost the same spot as the first bird above on the Delaware Shore. I have more Sparrows to share like the Song Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow and a LeConte's Sparrow.. There is also the Rufous-collard Sparrow seen in the Caribbean. I have a lot more sparrows to find and id..so more Sparrow post to come later.
Thanks for stopping by my post and for all the nice comments.. Have a happy week and stay warm..

Good shots Eileen
Wish you a nice day.
Greetings, Joop
You are lucky in North America with the variety of Sparrows you have. Identifying them is another thing, and I have the feeling that I will struggle with them!
I love sparrows. Thanks for sharing these fabulous pics.
There sure are a lot of sparrows and, like you, I have no idea where I am going to find them all! ;)
we have a great many sparrows at our feeder but i cannot id them all. We did have one that was a bit larger with a long tale yesterday. I wonder what kind it was.
Hello Eileen!!Hope you're warm and safe!!As i know you have a bad weather!!Great shots!!I like sparrows!!Lovely pictures!!Nice birds!!Have a great day!!Hugs!!
Dimi...
Hi Eileen, and hope that you are staying warm, for we are not doing such a great job of it here...sigh! Your Sparrow images are very nice, funny thing, we have House Sparrows 3 miles from us, but have never had a single one here~
always enjoy your posts; lovely birds Eileen
purdy :O)
They are lovely Eileen. Stay warm yourself!
Beautiful photos of the sparrows, Eileen.
The Savannah Sparrow and Grasshopper Sparrow are not to be found in the Netherlands.
Love the 'look' on the swamp sparrow!!! Maybe if you suck up my 42 degrees, the warmth from the tropical south would hit MY area?!!!
Stay warm Eileen.
Wonderful shots of the sparrows. I hope you are staying warm.
Great shots!
Love the sparrow in the reeds !
Hi Eileen. I have to figure out how to put the muse Saturday animal muse on my side bar , but I will figure it out . Didn't wan't you to think I wasn't trying as I love being part of the Saturday Critters :)
i love sparrows! i posted a savannah, too. :)
We have lots of Song Sparrows which I simply adore!...:)JP
Cute photos! Think warm thoughts.
What an interesting variety. The only one we see here are House Sparrows There are usually 20-30 at my feeders every day. That Grasshopper Sparrow is really cute.
Nice photos of Sparrows!
I saw my first swamp sparrow last year behind the levee near the Mississippi River. I was so excited. Sparrows are extremely difficult to identify and sometimes I get aggravated and give up. You have a great assortment here, Eileen. Take care and stay warm!!
I like that little Savannah Sparrow . . . I hope they stay warm!
Very pretty sparrows.
Your photos show their beauty.
Beautiful photos !!!
Greetings from the "Spring" Polish.

Very pretty sparrows! They are such cute little birds. Hope you are staying warm!
Beautiful sparrows. They live in my garden and I love them.
Greetings
Hi Eileen, Cool shots (pun intended). Happy to let you know that not only have I finally seen a Sparrow here but the American Robins have arrived (at least a pair have). We got down to 31 degrees F. here but no colder. More of the same tonight, I think and then a warm-up. Have a really good day tomorrow and stay warm!
My mind boggles at your birding knowledge, being able to distinguish between the kinds of sparrows is amazing to me. They are all so cute.
Nie wiedziałam, że jest aż 35 rodzajów wróbli. Ja je bardzo lubię. Pozdrawiam.
I did not know that it is as much as 35 types of sparrows. I really like them. Yours.
PS...yes, Eileen, the bird on top of my photos today is a curlew. If you click on the photos they'll enlarge to a slide show.
Lovely photos!
I also like sparrows, and I think you captured these beautifully.
Beautiful birds Eillen.. Congrats..
Both of the first two sparrows are new to me, and I think you got marvelous of both. I look forward to learning more about sparrows in future posts.
Before I started 'birding' I had no idea there were so many different sparrows… Some are so pretty… Too bad the House Sparrows are so plentiful and have such a bad reputation… I love the Savannah Sparrow. So gorgeous.
Hugs,
Betsy
Nice photos, Eileen! I have never seen a Savannah nor a Swamp Sparrow either. Maybe someday . . .
35? Oh my goodness, I had no idea there were so many types of sparrows. That little Grasshopper Sparrow with the ruffled feathers is so cute.
Sparrows and warblers, they're a challenge. Happy to see the green grass, even in a photo!!!!
Cheers from Cottage Country Ontario , ON, Canada!
Sparrows are definitely hard to ID, but they are all such cute little birds.
Great pictures! I have a hard time with sparrow too. The Grasshopper Sparrow is beautiful! I have yet to find one here!
Sparrows and wrens are the tiny dancers of the bird world.
Merle.............
Seeing lots of sparrows today, at home and on blogs!! They are beautiful Eileen, and there IS such a variety!!
I like the traces of yellow in both the Savannah and Grasshopper sparrows! We have a BUNCH of House Sparrows. Most sparrows are hard for me to ID, too, unless I'm already familiar with them.
I have a lot of house sparrows at my feeders too. At least I think they are house sparrows. I don't know who to identify the different ones.
Those Sparrows are unique, love them.
Hi Eileen. Great post. So many different species of Sparrows in your neck of the world.
You have very colorful sparrows Eileen!
A great idea to publish from your archives!!
I hope you are not suffering too much from the devastating cold in the North-East...
Temperature are soaring to 18°C, unseen since I live down here!
Keep warm, cheers!
Hi,Eileen. Nice captures. There are various kind sparrows in your country. Thanks for sharing.
I have enjoyed seeing these different varieties Eileen. Great shots! Have a great day and stay warm :)
Great collection and you have a high diversity of sparrows, we have only 3 species here.
What great captures! Good luck with finding them all.
the swamp sparrow is new to me. It looks like santa trying to hide. :)
Lovely shots of these cute little birds.
Cute little brown jobs!
Some birds are too confusing to identify. I just watch and enjoy.
We've only got two sparrows downunder - both introduced! I don't know how I'd go identifying 35 varieties - some are very similar, aren't they?! Have a great day!
So many sparrows. That will keep you busy finding them all.
Those darned sparrows give us all ID problems Eileen. Fortunately we don't have as many species as you do in North America and I don't envy your task of finding all of them. Nice shots of the Savannah Sparrow - one of the more colourful ones?
Dearest Eileen;
I never knew there are many kinds of sparrows p;) I just remember one kind I saw 'many of the brownish ones' in the rice paddy when young, haha.
The yellowish part around their eyes makes them really proud♡♡♡
Sending you lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
I have a flock of 30 here for the winter..... Nice series Eileen.... Michelle
