Linking up with Skywatch Friday and Good Fences
My skywatch and fence shots are from the Jersey shore.. along the Cape May beach they had fencing up near the dunes to protect the breeding and nesting Piping Plovers and Oystercatchers..
Some fencing along the beach is sturdier protecting the dunes. The sky was kind of gloomy when we arrived. And it was not the best morning for taking photos..But LOL, that does not stop me!
Other fencing was temporary to protect the nesting birds like the Oystercatcher above. This fence does not stop the birds like this Piping Plover from walking along the beach but it does help to keep people out.
Some scenes from our walk along the Cape May trail..
The skies around Cape May did clear up and we enjoyed our time there.
The Mute Swans seem to like hanging out at the Cape May ponds.. I included this shot in a mosaic on my previous post. But, I wanted to share the whole photo. I like the reflection.
We left Cape May and drove up the Jersey coast to the Edwin Forsythe wildlife refuge it is located close to were we were staying in Atlantic City. Above is a shot of the Osprey couple and nest with the Borgata Hotel & Casino in the background..
A view of the sunlight over the wildlife refuge.. I hope you enjoyed my post..

HI Eileen Wonderful fence shots. Love the Piping Plover, the reflection of the sleeping Swan and of course the Osprey. Just off to the ferry now. Hurray!
I enjoyed your post from a new location Eileen, and wonderful to see 'your' Osprey, no doubt related to 'my' Osprey :)
Oh, you are making me want to go back to Cape May! How delightful.
Cape May is so beautiful...fencing along the dunes seems to belong to the beach, if you know what I mean. It "goes" with it. Adding the birds you spotted is perfect, especially that nesting couple!!!...:)JP
Good morning, Eileen
Loved the shots--I always look forward to your adventures.
Glad the skies cleared up for you, but I gotta say-even gloomy weather looks fine there!
Have a wonderful day
In Hubby's youth, he was a lifeguard for The Virginia Hotel in Cape May. I think it might still be there. One day we plan to go for a visit. Lovely beach shots and the fences are awesome!
Your Garden State has lovely views on their beaches. The swan photo is lovely...kinda shapes a heart at the top, the way his neck folds in to his body. What a full day to spy an osprey nest, too.
Hi Eileen, love your post. I liked the misty shots at the start.
The beach fence looks nice, not out of place.
The sun over the wildlife refuge photo is just brilliant :D)
Pretty...all so pretty!
You have captured a favorite bird of mine that brings back the bestest memories for me! Ospreys!! Lovely shot of the swan. A fence and a beach.. doesn't get much better than that! Last click.. beautiful!!!
I think you got some very good pictures from Cape May. We haven't been there, but I think we need to add it to our 'to visit' list. I'm glad you shared the complete photo of the swan -- it's beautiful.
Looks like a great explore! We have some fenced off beach areas for piping plovers up here too.
Photos like these make me wish I could be out and about more. (My husband is still in the hospital.) These photos are wonderful.
Lovely post, Eileen! I like seeing the Plover and the Osprey, and that Swan/reflection is terrific!
the osprey with the building gleaming in the background is a unique shot! loved ALL the fences and birds, too!
Very cool fences and photos !
We have Osprey nesting over on the bogs in a nesting mantel that was made for them high in the sky. They return to it each year .
Great shot !
wow, what gorgeous beach scenes. i am guessing they are different days? the one that look kind of foggy. or was it going to rain? i love picture #4 ... what a lovely picturesque view. ( :
Mar-vel-ous shots!
Cape May, such a wonderful place for bird watching. I find the morning always misty there....then by late morning it's gorgeous. That's always the pattern when we have visited!!

It looks like a very nice place with a lot of different birds!
the fence shot looks very nice
Love the beach scenes! The osprey, too! I've never seen one of their nests.
A wonderful series of photos! I love the last shot and also the swan with his reflection is so great...
Some great shots. I especially like the first one - the mistiness has added to it rather than detracted,
what a lovely journey from the sand dunes onwards
Beautiful! Love the sun flare!
Oh yes I enjoyed your post very much. Love the beach and your shots were wonderful. The Osprey shot was cool with the hotel in the background. I also liked the pretty swan.
Gorgeous shots. Love the swan.
Beautiful collection of lake scenes. the first photos almost suggests snow on the landscape...especially the first photo. And even a busy swan can still manage to look elegant.
SO NJ - SO Great! Esp the osprey nest and the last magic shot!

I have a hard time choosing a favorite in this series! I would probably say the ospreys. Love seeing the nest!
I also went to New Jersey once. Thanks for sharing these!
What a beautiful place and your photos are really wonderful !
Eileen, have a happy weekend :)
this is beautiful. so glad they have fences protecting the birds from human interaction so they can breed and nest privately... have a great day~
Loved your Jersey Shore pics . . . very nice . . .
Really nice Eileen! The protection of sand but your birds.
Photo 4 and 5 are really nice, but your last picture is really fantastic in appearance :-) You have very beautiful swan photographed.
It has been a Piping Plover year for many. That's a good sign, right? I hope so.
I what I wouldn't do to take a little trip to the shore about now! :)
We have OPEN lakes here in northern MN this week, though. Ice is out! (on most)
Beautiful bird shots (glad you showed the swan one again)...and the fence is pretty and a great example of the very best possible use of fencing. What a great weekend getaway.
