Saturday's Critters #41

Saturday's Critters #41

Happy weekend and welcome to Saturday's Critters! I am sorry I will not be around till later in the day..  I do hope to catch up as soon as possible.. I hope everyone enjoys today's critters.

This is the hardest post I have ever done..it is a tribute my Goldie Girl.. We said our final goodbyes to Goldie on Labor Day weekend..I am just about able to talk about her. At first, I would  tear up and have a lump in my throat.. She had many illnesses and we just felt it was better for her comfort to let her go. The vet said the Golden Retrievers find a way to tolerate and hide their pain.  I know she is in doggie heaven with our other dogs Sunshine, Daisy and Maui. Maybe they are playing together now.

Sweet Goldie Girl...I miss you!  I know many of my followers have gone thru the loss of their dear pets, they are family..It was over 12 years ago we said goodbye to our other dogs and I still miss them too.

Above are Daisy, Maui , Sunshine and way in the rear Sierra.

Above are my favorite dogs, Goldie Girl and the bottom row Daisy our first Golden, Maui a chocolate Lab and in the rear Sunshine our Yellow Lab.  Bottom right another shot of Daisy.. I miss them all right now!!

I saved this post until today because I need some time  before I could talk about Goldie's passing. It also helped we had our Colorado vacation planned and I was not at home in what felt like an empty home without Goldie Girl.

Thank you for linking up to the critter party. I appreciate the visits, comments and the support of my blogging friends................... Have a happy weekend!

  1. Hello, Dear Eileen; Haha, I am all in tears remembering my baby Shetland Sheepdog 'Tonny'. I named him from my old favorite TV show 'I Dream of Jeannie'. I lost my husband's present baby boy (for after hard long infertility treatment) almost 30 years ago but still lives in my heart and smiling from the little picture in our bedroom p:-) Oh, your Goldie Girl sure is with your other doggies smiling for you appreciating your care.
It happened that my post today is about dog. I was happy for my first time being able to see borzoi♪

Have a wonderful trip and weekend.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

  5. A lovely tribute to Goldie Girl and I understand how hard it must have been to write. From experience it's most difficult when there is only one,the space they leave seems much more empty.

    Happy weekend!

  16. I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your beautiful Goldie. I post about our puppy, and now think it is inappropriate with the pain you're having at the moment. It's devastating, and I hope it will get better for you and your husband.

  19. So hard to say goodbye to a dear sweet dog. Goldie looks likes she was such a loving dog with that soulful look in her dark eyes. What a beautiful coat she had too!! I hope you'll enjoy your holiday, and that on your return your sadness will have been alleviated a tiny bit. I think the quietness of the house is the hardest part too. Big hugs to you Eileen. 23. So many lovely photos of Goldie Girl, a sweet tribute to her and your other pets. They give us such joy in the time they are with us and it is always so hard to say goodbye. I hope getting away gave you peace but I know there is a big hole that only time will help heal. You are very much in my thoughts Eileen.

  24. I am so sorry to hear of the pain you and your family are going through. It's so hard losing a pet. It sounds to me like your Goldie was MUCH loved and you gave her a very happy life.

Goldie was very beautiful. Were she a human, I've no doubt she'd have been strung in pearls like Audrey Hepburn and donning fancy hats while wearing pink nail polish on her toes.

(((HUGS))) to you and your family.

  25. Good for you for taking time. Excellent idea.

Yes, our pets are family. My deepest condolences. I know how you feel! It just hurts. You watch at the door for them...

  26. she'll always be in your heart. what a dear girl.

the empty house is the worst. i lasted 3 days after the death of one of my dear pups before i had to adopt another dog.

  27. I think of you each day . . .
    I can't imagine your loss.
Wise decision, but not an easy one to make, I am sure.
Goldie Girl had the sweetest face ever!
One thing I know, she was loved over the moon, and was treated to adventures, swims and many of hikes and bird watches. I imagine your other dogs were treated to the same. One thing about loving and caring for our pets, or for anyone, for that matter. Love always remains and it is our joy in our sorrow . . .
Thinking of you Eileen, and caring!

  29. What a beautiful tribute to Goldie Girl. My heart goes out to you knowing the deep love we have for our four legged family members. As we say at our dog club, she has crossed the rainbow bridge where she is playing with all the other loved pets who have crossed over before her.

    Huge hugs,
Lois and our four legged family members, Penny, Erik, and Wendy

  32. Oh Eileen, by the time I got the end of this post, I couldn't see the screen. Goldie Girl was the dog I got to know on your blog but reading about her passing, also brought back so many sad memories of times we've had to make that decision. Bless you for sharing. I hope it's eased the pain a little and that your holiday also helped for you to be able to cope once you get home. Blessings. Jo

  36. One of the hardest things we have ever had to do was to put our Rhodesian Ridgeback Penny down. She had cancer. It was extremely emotional for both of us, but especially for my hubby who was with her at the vets. She had been his post-heart-attack-dog and they had become special friends. It hurt a lot and still does. I keep saying I will get out all the old pictures and make a scrapbook, plus I'd love to post some of them. I am so sorry for your pain and loss. They are like children. Goldie and your other sweeties all look like such wonderful dogs. You're right, they are all probably running and playing together right now!
