Saturday's Critter's #44
Happy weekend and welcome to Saturday's Critters! I am sharing more of the birds and critters seen during our Colorado vacation.. Besides birds, hubby and I loved seeing all the elk.. The biggest herd were seen in the Beaver Meadows area ..Specifically off the road that goes to the Cub Lake trail.. Every day the cars were lined up on the side of the road, people sitting out in their chairs watching the elk show.. One big bull elk was bugling and chasing another male around and away from the rest of the herd.

A Yellow-rumped Warbler was one of the common birds we saw around Estes Park and the Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park.
The chase is on.
This Black-billed Magpie was going bald..molting..
If you turn up the sound all the way you will hear the bull elk bugling on my video..It maybe too long, I do not mind if you do not watch it all, lol.
Thanks to Tex Theresa aka Tex, I was able to add this link up button and thanks to Jennifer for creating my photo badge.

I have never been first in my entire life ever! Nothing like being on the West Coast and three hours behind everybody else.
I love your Rocky Mountain Elk! Aren't they magnificent? Beautiful pictures (I've never really gotten good birds in Colorado...next time we visit the kids I will try harder.)
Thank you so much for hosting.
Boy!!! How did we miss this awesome viewing spot! I hate that so much! You saw some great elk there, and got great photos and video too. I am so jealous!!! :-)
Love those bulls! I hope to photograph some elk in the wild here one day. Very impressive animals!
Oh that constant warring for territory. It even happens in kitty -households! Great post. I never knew that magpies (like our crows) molt. And I didn't know what sound an elk makes. Now I do. I love sharing in your wonderful Saturday Critters Party. Have the best weekend ever, Eileen. Greetings, Jo
Great family of deer ! Beautifully captured scenes from the lives of these amazing animals !
Eileen, I wish you a nice weekend :)

Good morning Eileen. Your elk photos are wonderful but the video is just superb. That bull elk looks like it should topple over with carrying those magnificent antlers,
Thanks for hosting again and have a wonderful weekend.
Lovely photos of the elk! We saw the elk rut in Pennsylvania a few years back. They put on quite a show.
Hi Eileen,
Beautiful pictures of the moose.
The video is great.

Beautiful photos and great video, Eileen. Happy weekend!
Hi Eileen. Interesting that we should share the same wildlife event but with different beasts.
Great pics of the bull Elk and a very well captured video.
Have a lovely weekend.
Living in Colorado for over 40 years, I don't ever recall seeing a Yellow Rump Warbler!!
The Elk, on the other hand, are plentiful...you've captured their strength and beauty to be sure.
Das ist ja ein ganz toller Bericht.
Ich hatte noch nie die Gelegenheit ,
Elche in freier Natur zu beobachten.
Tolles video.
Liebe Grüße
Jutta
Fantastic post Eileen! Those elk are magnificent. The video was fun to watch also. Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend :)
Having a video of your subject certainly enhances the post. I think I must have watched it on your FB, as it looked familiar?
Have a nice weekend!
I love the background colour of the first picture.
Eileen, my hubby would be ga-ga over those elk. He's been hunting for elk and been very close, but has not had a good opportunity. I think he would prefer to be like you and just photograph them.
beautiful elk! so impressive!
Here I was, expecting your 'normal' amazing bird photos. Your 4-footed ones are amazing!!!
Wow, Elk is SO gorgeous that it must have been such fun to see chasing♡♡♡ Great nature seen, Eileen (^_^)v

Thanks for the video. I see and hear many things there.
gorgeous shots.
That bull has quite the rack. No wonder he's got a nice harem :O)
Aren't the elk majestic? I enjoyed your video of this big guy grooming his antlers in the grass, Eileen. This weekend is "Elk Fest" in Estes Park. Did you hear that Trail Ridge Road already had almost two feet of snow in the high elevations?
The Elk and the run must have been quite the experience to see. Thanks Eileen, really great Critter post!
oops, i forgot to link in!!
the elk are beautiful, with the tall grasses. i have never seen a magpie, they do look cute!!

Such wonderful photos! Beautiful birds and the elk is very impressive!
I've only seen Elk when driving through an animal preserve...never in their true wild state!...:)JP
Such magnificent photos of the Elk! Their coloration is just great with the golden grass. I'm wondering why the bull in the video rolls his head from side to side in the grass and pulls some out on his antlers, so funny! The molting magpie is cute, my chickens are molting now too.
The elks are wonderful.
We never get to see elk so this was a rare treat...loved the video!!!!
not seen a magpie that colour before
A wonderful post... and as Frank has already said it's much the same over here with the Red Deer...
Very nice ! I like the deer !
Wonderful critters!
Love all your elk photos! We just returned from Olympic National park where we got to see an elk herd too.

My word!
That elk has quite a number of does for himself!
He must have spent quite an amount of energy to keep rivals off!!
Brilliant footage Eileen!
Keep well :)
i love your video. always fun to hear them in their real habit. we have gorgeous birds out in these parts. but the western birds are so different. maybe i need to have a place to live in both areas. i wish??!

Thanks, Eileen, for sharing your link at I'd Rather B Birdin'!!
Holy cow... elk! I can't ever seem to get photos as well as yours of the elk around here. They get spooked so easily.
Thanks for hosting.
Great shots of the elk! They are magnificent creatures. I just saw a couple yellow rumped warblers at my place the other day...wasn't sure what they were!
It's amazing to watch the Elk during rut. Colorado is a wonderful place to visit. Thanks for sharing your photos of your trip there!
