Linking up with Skywatch Friday and Good Fences
For this week's Good Fence and Skywatch Friday memes I am sharing more birds, skies and fences from our visit to Lakeland Florida. On this day we walked close to three miles around Lake Hollingsworth in Lakeland Florida. It was a little foggy in the early morning, we could not even see the whole lake during our walk.
Above is one of many of the Limpkins we saw during our walk.
Scenes from our walk around the lake, ducks were plentiful and lots of fences in front of the big homes on the lake. My contribution for Tex's Good fences above. During our walk, various groups of ducks would actually run up to us like they were greeting old friends. I know they were looking for food but we did not have anything for them.
This may have been one of the few days we did not have sunny skies while in Florida.. A foggy look at the lake..that is if you can see the lake.
Not a lifer, but one of my favorite Florida birds the Purple Gallinule. It's beak color is different than the Moorhen or Common Gallinule.
A look at the sky, trees and fence as we walked around the lake. Another combo fence and sky shot for both of the memes. I love the trees. I am pretty sure later in day the weather was much better.
It was easy this morning to look straight into the sun..this is it folks, my view of the sky on this day.
More of the Lakeland Birds we saw during our walk around the lake. On the top row: Little Blue Heron, Wood Stork with Limpkin, Mallards or Mottled ducks. Bottom Row: White Pelicans, Wood Ducks, Duck family.
I hope you enjoyed this series of skies, fences and birds. I know you all know me by now, I can not do a post without my birds, lol! Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments..

More unusual birds I have never seen nor heard of before. So unusual to see no sun in Florida. Cool images!
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful series of images, a great blog.
I love the Limpkin with the foggy background.
Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Irma
Great variety in the offerings. Charming birds, graceful fences and imposing sky views et all
Great post. The fences were so nice. I like that white one that looked like it had "pineapples" on it. Also the texture of the one below with the palm trees was pretty cool. As always great bird shots.
These are lovely, lovely, lovely! I especially loved that first shot with the foggy background. Thanks for stopping by Eileen. I did get your previous comment but have been a bit slow on getting on the computer to moderate them. Just doing it now. Have a great day :)

I love that name Limpkin! Sounds like something from a fairy tale!
You some great water birds on your walk around the lake! That little blue heron is very striking. I would love to see some of these large herons and storks. I think the mist on the lake really adds great atmosphere to the photos. I love misty mornings :)

Great post, Eileen. I loved that first foggy Limpkin shot, very moody. I always think the natural side to Florida is so beautiful and would love to visit someday.
Hello Eileen,
Oh yes, I agree about the Purple gallinule, what a stunning bird it is!
Your sly wasn't much bright than is ours in the last 48 hours... :( but your photos are magnificent.
Today we had pouring rains!
The Limpkin is a bird I have never seen, he stands out well on the light background.
Enjoy the end of the week, hugs from France!
Great shots . I tried to leave a comment on your travel blog but it said that I didn't have access to that page?????
Lovely post, Eileen!
Your misty photos are so very beautiful!
Have a great weekend!
I have sunshine and I have fog. Here and there.
Nice photos--you, again, have found a wealth of birds to photograph! I always enjoy your posts. Have a great weekend. Mickie :)
Beautiful, hazy-day photos, Eileen. I love them particularly for that.
You know, I couldn't tell if the Mallard on the roof was real or it was a statue?
Beautiful (hazy - my kind) skies and the wall with the stucco design on it.
Pleasure to visit your page, as always.
Have a Beautiful Weekend!
Peace :)
Enjoyed seeing everything you saw - The misty photo is so pretty.
The Limpkin looks like a neat bird! I love foggy mornings--especially for taking pictures--unless we have to do any driving! Enjoyed seeing the wide variety of birds in this post.
We went to Florida once and rented an airplane. In addition to heading out to the Bahamas we got to see quite a bit of Florida from the air and ground. It was an experience to fly over the Everglades. - Margy
I like seeing the wood stork and the pelicans. We don't often have fog - I think it makes the landscape looks mysterious.
Excellent photos! Have a good weekend!
What a nice post, great images!
