North Point State Park

I have a list below of memes I am joining for this week, and to save time I am doing one post for all. They are all fun memes to participate in...I hope you can join in with the fun  and check out some of the participating posts. Special thanks to all the wonderful host and their memes, I hope you have some time to check them out.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone, including all the Moms of the furbabies.

Now that the spring/summer birds are returning to the area I have been re-visiting places like this Baltimore County Park called North Point State Park. The Little Blue Herons are seen there along with the Red-headed Woodpeckers and many more birds.

Top row: Little Blue Herons, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. Second row: Red-headed woodpecker, Slider turtles. Third row, Snakes and a Chipping Sparrow. Bottom Row, Snapping Turtles, Eastern Towhee and an Osprey.

The Little Blue Heron has always been a favorite of mine, perched on the tree you can not miss the Little Blue's bi-colored bill and maroon head.

The Red-headed Woodpecker is always a treat to see.

We saw a lot of snakes of all sizes sunning themselves. It is the season where all the critters are enjoying the warm sunshine.

Our shadow shot, do you see hubby pointing at the little snapping turtle on the trail?

Turtles, like these Sliders were seen all around the marshland.

We also saw this Osprey from the car, eating something on the ground.

More snakes, can you find two snakes on this tree stump? I hope you enjoyed our walk with the birds and critters.  Thank you for visiting and for the nice comments. As always, thanks to the wonderful group of hosts listed below.

Woah - that's a tread carefully walk in more ways than one with all those snakes around. The shadow shot picture is very clever no wonder the baby turtle was a little snappy :) North Point State Park looks a really interesting place for a wander!
Have a happy week

I love all the birds, especially the Little Blue Heron. Not a big fan of the snakes ever since one managed to get inside my house a couple of years ago.

Thank you so much for your shot for SEASONS - I appreciate also that you're visiting some others:)
When I looked at the shadow shot, I had no idea what was going on, till I was reading your text:) That Osprey looks fierce - do you know if it's related to the eagle? (Don't have to research it for me though -just if you know off hand!)
Have a great week Eileen and see you soon:)

Beautiful collection of birds (and other critters) from one of your many amazing natural places. A wonderful walk. I saw my first red-heads of the season on my morning walk today. I never know if these birds just get here this time of year or if they come out of hiding because there are not so many people around. Either way, I am always happy to see them.

The little blue heron is so beautiful!! I've not heard of them before, and you got a wonderful shot of it. I love seeing birds and turtles ... snakes, not so much :[ We were paddling in a marsh once and the going was very slow as we were getting stuck on the muck under the canoe. While we were trying to free ourselves in one spot I suddenly realized a HUGE snake was coiled up on a marshy mound just inches from our canoe ... ugh! I am so frantic when I see a snake, and I could NOT get that darned canoe pushed free fast enough. Thankfully the snake stayed put (he was probably laughing at my reaction).

I would love to see a red-headed woodpecker, Eileen! It's so cool you take time to go to these interesting wild places and share your photos, since I don't get out much to do that. I'm reminded of when my adventurous brother kept a large snapping turtle in his room briefly, until it started climbing everything.
