Hello,
I am sharing the Wood Stork, another one of my favorite Florida Birds. I see them in various parks and preserves from our local Lake Parker Park and at the Circle B Reserve.
The Wood Stork is a large American wading bird. It has a dark head with a bald black face.
It is a large bird 33-45 inches tall.
At the Circle B Reserve, the Wood Stork and Roseate Spoonbill hang out together.
It appears mostly white but, while in flight the edge of the wings are black.
They build a large stick nest in a forest tree. They nest in colonies, as many as 25 nest in one tree. They prefer cypress trees in marsh land.
I hope you enjoyed my Wood Stork photos and post. Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Storks ROCK. I luv dem
they are beautiful and I am betting they like to nest in the cypress trees because they are found in a swamp that people can't bother them

Lovely posts you've published, dear Eileen!
A pleasure to discover you posts as I came back from Paris, a beautiful city but I would not like to live there, the stress to move around and find your way when you're a country girl is too high! LOL!
Great stork, mandarin and turtle photos!!
Keep well and enjoy the rest of the week :)

Such huge birds Eileen. They are very distinctive in flight. Nicely taken pictures as usual. Enjoy the rest of your week in the sun.

Hi Eileen, Right up there with the Bufflehead Ducks, Wood Ducks, woodpeckers and the bluebirds on my "I love these birds" list! The Wood Storks are serene and interesting big waders! The ones in your photographs look like they are older birds. Outstanding pictures! Have a fabulous Friday tomorrow!
Stunning - I'd love to see the birds in person, I've always been intrigued by them.
I have seen wood storks but for the moment I don´t remember which trip. :(
I don't think I've ever seen any of these before.
Great photos!
