Hello,
I am sharing another Florida bird with the help of my Flickr photos. This is the Black-crowned Night Heron. We saw these herons in various parks and places in Florida. These shots were taken at the Lettuce Lake Park near Tampa, Florida.
At Lettuce Lake Park there is a boardwalk and you just look down at the birds, most birds were really close.
The Black-crowned Night Heron's have mostly grey and black plumage. They breed in colonies and they live around fresh and salt water wetlands.
Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Hello Eileen
Gorgeous photos of this lovely heron, ours is very similar... for once!!! How nice to be able to get that close, here they are soooo wild!!!
Keep well and enjoy the new week :)
One of my favorites! Lovely portraits.
Gorgeous, crystal clear pics, Eileen. Wishing you a lovely Monday.
I really appreciate those photos of Night Heron Eileen. it's not a species I see very often, just in Menorca once a year. I am impressed that you are able to observe them so close. Full marks to the organisation behind Lettuce Lake Park.
What wonderful photos of this gorgeous bird! We saw one last weekend...the first one we've seen this year! Now we'll be looking every time we go. Hope your computer is up and running! Hugs!

Wonderful photos. Have a great week.
The black crowned night heron is a god looking bird, Eileen. I like the name "Lettuce Lake"--I wonder if there is a story behind that name?
I loved reading about the Black-crowned Kinglet. Gorgeous images.
Have a great week, Eileen!

I really wish you could come and visit me and our birds in Bangkok, your Heron photos are as usual exceptional, I love the clarity you get. We would have such fun trying to identify the noisy dawn chorus outside my window, which I am extremely happy about living in the middle of the city!
Have a happy week

Thats a nice heron - I always think I have seen 'something' if I see a heron of any species.

WoW eileen, these are great images, you really captured the eye!!!
Great post of that beautiful bird, Eileen... Sounds like a great place to see birds... I know how much you miss being in FL.
Hugs,
Betsy
We have one that lives in a pond near me. I'm always thrilled when I spot him!
Very nice !
Quite distinctive. That kind of heron does not come this far north.
It is a beautiful bird...
He is magnificent / always so interesting to see the birds and critters that are not natural to my habitat :)
Beautiful Eileen!
I'm a bit late to the party, but I've been busy! Actually busy, which is unusual for me!
Your birds are amazing.
It's funny. These birds can be really hard to snap photos of OR they can be super easy! Looks like a fabulous place to bird. Hope you are enjoying your week! Chris
Beautiful bird.
Good continuation of the week.

Very nice !
One of my favorites! Great captures, Eileen!
Hello Eileen!:) Sorry to be late in commenting. Have had a few mishaps that needed medical attention. I have always loved these Night Herons, and your shots are brilliant! Those red eyes are really striking. I wonder why some Black Crowned Night Herons have white head plumes, and others don't! They are handsome grey and black birds anyway, with, or without head plumes.
There are some of these at one of the rehab facilities that I follow...I can't grab the photo for the collage..only a link so it won't be in this week....Michelle
Really fine photos Eileen!
Herons always look a little grouchy.
Nice shots indeed. This is again new to me.
Funny looking, almost awkward...
