Hello,
I am sharing another Florida lifer, the Monk Parakeet. I planned a daytrip to see the Burrowing Owls and I happened to see the Monk Parakeet in the same spot along with a Loggerhead Shrike.
The Monk Parakeet is a bright green parrot with a grayish face and breast.
They are native to South America. They have established colonies in the USA.
I watch numerous Monk Parakeets going back and forth to this light pole. They were working on a nest.
Lightpole nest at the ball field.
Thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

They look cute and clever:) Great photos!
A busy flock of parakeets & they don't seem timid or worried about spending time on the ground!
The site of their nest is very modern 'penthouse '!

Very pretty bird . . .
Great pictures Eileen . . .
They have a humongous colony on a muni golf course I used to hit often. Their nests were right above the 14th tee. So noisy. Hard to concentrate on your drive. But they are cool birds.
Wow - what a spot for a nest. Busy and pretty little birds. Happy week ahead. I always look forward to seeing what wonderful birds you find.
Fantastic looking the Monk Parakeet, well taken Eileen.
Hi Eileen!
I really enjoyed this post on the Monk Parakeet. Love the photo of the nest building in the top of the light pole. I hope the nestlings to be will fair well when the ballgames begin.
Have a great week!
Toni

How delightful to spot these bright green parakeets. I am watching a red headed woodpecker hammering on a stump outside my bedroom window this morning :)
Wow, that was quite an amazing birding day. Could you let me know where you were? Love these pictures of these busy birds. Thank you so much as always for hosting and for sharing your pictures and knowledge.

The little parakeets sure are pretty with their lime green and gray colors. And, what a nice name, Monk Parakeet. They really look busy, with their building. Have a nice afternoon, Eileen.

We used to see these parakeets in Brooklyn! The story was they escaped from a shipment at Kennedy Airport. They made their homes on power towers where tey could stay warm in winter. They were pretty but very noisy..lol
Lovely green parrot, i wonder why it is called monk parakeet!
I've noticed how busy the chubby looking parakeets are in the pics!

Hello Eileen. Thanks for visiting me in Spain. I'm back home now where it's easier to get online with a PC rather than a smartphone. Interesting bird the Monk Parakeet and I remember seeing them in the Canary Islands where thay have established a feral population.
That's an impressive nest! One of these passed through our yard a few years ago. It was a joyful sighting. :D
They certainly are pretty!
You've been missed Eileen! I hope you're okay...and maybe just computer woes.
Anyway, love the parakeets....we have 'em nesting here too. They're fun to watch and hear.
Hello,
Beautiful bird! I wish you a nice and warm day :)
fascinating! have a beautiful day!
Hello Eileen!:) What an exciting find. I really enjoyed seeing these lovely green birds, and to actually see them in the wild making a nest must have been thrilling. The Monk Parakeet and the Rose-ringed Parakeet have both established colonise in Portugal, but I haven't had the pleasure of seeing them yet. Congrats on your lifer!:)
Hello Eileen
These birds are such a lovely colour.
I like all of your photo's especially the ones showing the nest too - they have to work so hard to build it!
Enjoy the rest of your week.
My good wishes
All the best Jan
