Hello and happy Thursday!
Would you believe these images are from Jan 18th, that is where I left off sharing my Florida photos. On this weekend we went on an overnight to the Flagler Beach area and visited Daytona Beach the next day, we stopped at various beaches along the coast. Daytona is just a little further south down the road and along the Atlantic coast. We like the uncrowded area of the Ponce De Leon lighthouse and the Lighthouse Point Park located at New Smyrna Beach Florida.
Terns and a gull. There is one Sandwich Tern in the group below. It has the black bill with a yellow tip.

Shadow shot of me and hubby!
An Egret was hanging near a fisherman on the jetty.
Surfers at Daytona Beach
A look back at the Pone De Leon Lighthouse from the jetty. I do not really like beaches that allow the cars to drive on them. I worry about the birds and their nests in the breeding season. Daytona allows cars to drive on the beach.
For my list of thankful things this week:
I am thankful for pretty beaches. It was great to see so many Florida beaches are clean and do not have litter and trash thrown around.
I am thankful for the time we had sightseeing in Florida. I am also thankful my hubby and I share the love of nature and the outdoors.
As always, I am thankful for your visits and comments on my blog.
I hope you enjoyed my post and photos. Thanks so much for visiting and for your nice comments. Have a happy day!
Thank you Michelle for hosting. Thankful Thursday
Thank you to the hosts of Skywatch Friday

Lovely post Eileen, you are making me wish I was there, I have not been that far North in Florida, amazing to see the Sandwich tern, we have them here in the UK. I agree entirly about cars on beaches.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Gordon.
Linda praia, aves ,sombras, mar...Adorei! Ótimo dia ,bjs, chica
ReplyDeleteJust looking at these photos make me feel as if I had a little vacation. I can just feel that gulf breeze!

ReplyDelete...and I am thankful for being able to share the beauty of our slice Earth through the eyes of all my fellow bloggers!!! YAM xx
Good Morning, Eileen. So nice that you and your husband share a love of outdoors. It's been about 20 years since I've visited Florida. I enjoyed the lighthouse, beach and bird photos you have shared. Hope you have a nice day.
ReplyDelete...I love the light.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture on the beach and I really liked the white sandy beaches there… wonder how the cars there drive on the beach sand without getting struck! Do all 4x4? I love the lighthouse and the views from near and far. Nice shadow of you both :)
ReplyDeleteThe light house and beaches are so pretty - what a wonderful place to visit! It's also wonderful that you and your husband share the love of nature!
ReplyDeleteYou always spot so many different birds everywhere you go. Good news that the beaches were clean.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen! This is a very picturesque beach but I agree with you about the cars driving over the area and possibly causing damage.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of the lighthouse and osprey!
Best wishes!
Awesome post and pics.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
we have always wanted to live on Flager beach, from there to this lighthouse is our favorite part of Florida
ReplyDeleteHeading back that way this Jan. On Wed. a great farmers market at the Fairgrounds.
ReplyDeleteNever seen that kind of birds! Wonderful place and photos!
ReplyDeleteoh wonderful! especially the Osprey shot!
ReplyDeleteLove the birds, and the lighthouse is gorgeous. Would you believe I've never seen a lighthouse in person? Hopefully, we'll remedy that in the fall this year. I can't believe they let cars on the beach knowing many cars have oil drips.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
That looks so beautiful. I have always wanted to visit Florida.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I like this place, hubby and I spent an early anniversary there once! Great captures, and I like your shadows best of all. Okay the lighthouse is cool too! Enjoy your day Eileen.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Eileen! Your photos are always so beautiful. Osprey is very pretty.
Happy Thursday!
It is unfortunate about the cars on the beach but I guess it is a tradition there and it is hard to stop tradition.
ReplyDeleteCarrying a camera gives the toter a whole new appreciation for Nature, don't you agree?
ReplyDeletewhat a nice pictorial summary of how wonderful this area is. i really loved all of these captures, this seems like the best of the best. the lighthouse image composed perfectly and a GREAT capture of the osprey!!!
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous and captivating series, Eileen! Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope you are having a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful area!
ReplyDeleteI like your photos, especially the lighthouse. Nice for you to be there when it wasn't crowded. Daytona beach is where my daughter's family always goes.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your visits to my blog.
Oh, my, I love that Osprey shot...and I like lighthouses...I have never been inside one but they have always fascinated me. I always enjoy your photos.
ReplyDeleteLovely series, and an osprey with his breakfast/dinner/lunch, what a superb shot. Down here, I am so thankful for where we live, and this week with more utter tragedy, think of those in the fire, the shootings, and cannot comprehend it all. Thankfulness every day for blog friendships.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of nice beachtrip.
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you !
Great picture and I really like the lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Daytona many times though not for years and years.
Brilliant photos Eileen, they make me want to get in the car and drive to Florida :) I have never seen the Sandwich Tern before and am always thrilled when I get to see the other kind. All extraordinary birds. I like your shadow shot and the beautiful views you have shared today. Thank you so much and have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a few beaches on the Oregon coast that also allow cars, and I'm with you - I don't like it all. Very hazardous for birds and people alike.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful photos, Eileen. Those terns look like they are facing into a very stiff breeze although by the look of the gull I can tell that is how they look naturally. I hope you are having a great day.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos too! And Daytona is just about the closest beach to us but we usually go down to New Symrna. It's so HOT now though...but I miss going to the beach! Enjoy your afternoon sweet friend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt does look a very nice area.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your photo's but the second one is my favourite.
All the best Jan
While I loved the bird shots it was the shadow shot that had me chuckling...too cute :)
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify ..........for anyone wanting to go visit the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, it is a bit south of Daytona in New Smyrna Beach.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, BEAUTIFUL photos. Those royal terns are one of my favorite birds. They remind me of little old men.
Beautiful photos Eileen! I love beaches in the winter.
ReplyDeleteThese truly are beautiful and impressive photos.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Daytona Beach in years! I love that lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteI love these photos! This is the side of Daytona that isn't shown much, and maybe that's a good thing - It's postcard perfect!
ReplyDeleteA lighthouse is one of my favorite things.

Gulls of all kinds seem to have that "group thing" down pat . . .
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Eileen . . .
Wow! Lovely lighthouse
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, especially that first one, just love it. Have a great weekend,
ReplyDeleteAndrea
Nice series of pictures, Eileen..I love the Flagler/St Augustine area..We used to visit friends there..Driving on the beach..I don't like it either but after all, it's Daytona. Have a great weekend..
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeletemarvelous photos of the birds and the beach and the sea. Gorgeous !
Have a great weekend ahead, Eileen.
Best, Synnöve
lovely photos, the top one is beautifully composed. Lovely to see the sandwich tern too, I saw my first sandwich terns of the year this week!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen, I enjoyed your photos of the beaches with the lighthouse. And the Terns are pretty cool looking birds. I didn't know what Daytona beach looked like. I guess some beaches still allow driving on them. There are a couple in South Texas that allowed it years ago, but I don't know if they still do. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou always take such lovely picture Eileen . Good to be thankful isn't it . I wear a bracket daily that says just that !
ReplyDeleteWonderful post. Eileen. Beautiful birds. I love the sea and I do not like to see cars on the beaches.
ReplyDeleteBuen fin de semana.
Besos.
Wow stunning bird photos, always a joy to see what you have photographed...
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend x
Amanda
Great photos - I love all of the birds! It seems like cars on the beach would dirty the beach :(
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I bet you wouldn't get that tranquility during peak times.
ReplyDeleteVehicles can traverse our beaches nere also...but they're patroled by city police AND beach patrol. Love the lighthouse photos!
ReplyDeleteI know that lighthouse. I would love to return to Florida someday and see it again! Lovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your birds photos. I like your shadow shot and I must remember to take one. Great view of the beach in the last photo. Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteA fun post! Love the lighthouse and shadow shots.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the beach thing. I love the shadow shot! We took a walk on a nearby reserve, and I thought of it, then forgot to do selfies! Old age...:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen-
ReplyDeleteThat's a Stellar bird - awesome capture. The Giraffe and beach are also very nice captures.
People would rather park their autos on the beach, instead of in a parking area away from the beach and walk to the beach to get some 'free' exercise, and then go to the gym to work out to stay fit :)
Lots of words there, eh?
Have a Happy Weekend and thank you for hosting.
Peace :)
beautiful lighthouse and love the terns :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your shadow shot!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Osprey catch!!
Wonderful shots of the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse!!
I know this area well!!! Fun looking!!
I would certainly believe you still have Florida pictures; you guys covered so much ground and the state is so rich in birds. Thanks for the help in IDing sandwich terns.... I hate that they sometimes let cars drive on beaches. That NEVER happens in Oregon and those, of course, are the beaches I know the best.
