Cumberland Falls Resort State Park

Happy Monday,

I am continuing our road trip. After leaving Mammoth Cave NP and Bowling Green Kentucky we headed to our next night stay at the Cumberland Falls Resort State Park.

This is a Google map of our road trip. The trip dates were from May 1st to may 11th.

On May 7th-8th we stayed at the  Cumberland Falls Resort Lodge,. We had a nice room in the lodge for the night. Their restaurant was perfect for dinner and breakfast the next day.

A view of the river above the falls.

Pretty sure this is a Song Sparrow, seen near the river's edge.

Rainbow at the Cumberland Falls.

The recent rain helped the falls look great with lots of water.

Me and my shadow at the falls.

The view of the river and park  from the resort's restaurant. I was happy to see a worker come along and fill all the bird feeders outside the windows.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Thanks to the hosting team of Our World Tuesday!
I hope to see you there. Thanks to the host today. Enjoy your day.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

  4. Great to see a map of your trip as well! The falls must have made a break in any river travel for early pioneers. Beautiful photos!

  8. I last saw this Cumberland falls view of river and rocks and falls about 60 years ago, it was 1957 I think and I don't think the resort was there.

  10. I love this place I camped there in late Aug of 2016. I met this preacher and his wife who had just began a journey camping in a dodge caravan, and I often think of them.

  26. Wow those are lovely scenes, most specially because of that waterfalls. I am always attracted by them. By the way, till now i don't know how to put the trails on google map as you did, how to put those blue lines. Can you tell me how to do that? Sorry Eileen, i am so dumb with these things, hehehe.

  39. Wow, that trip looks fantastic! I need to plan my own summer road trip. So far, we are camping this weekend in San Diego County. Really like the waterfalls you have shown here. It must be nice to stay in a lodge close to a river.

  40. I love following you along your journey.... You definitely got to visit several of our very favorite places... Anyone who wants to see a pretty waterfall should visit Cumberland Falls... The water is usually always good --and that rainbow is so special. We went there once and saw the Moonbow during the night.... That was very special also.

Gla you enjoyed it.. We've stayed in their lodge also and eaten in their restaurant...

    Hugs,
    Betsy
Did you see where I mentioned you on Facebook? I posted a sunrise picture from the Thorofare Mtn. Overlook near Skyland from our trip there last August.... I think you posted a similar picture not long ago.

  48. I remember Mammoth Cave NP from when we were RVing... do not remember the Falls which means we must have missed it, darn it! I would love to go back to Kentucky -- we definitely enjoyed our time there.

  49. Hmm, looks like a place I'd like to see! That's a lot of road to cover considering that it's mountainous.

  50. Eileen - this is one of the spots my husband and I went for our honeymoon! Back then, we were poor as church mice, but more importantly, as a resident alien, he could not leave the US right after we were married, so no EXOTIC honeymoon for us! We loved this part of our trip, including some rafting on the river.

By the way, I may not be commenting as often for the next few weeks since I will have my in-laws visiting from the UK. We are going to have a great time!
