Saturday's Critters # 235

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

Can a birder have two spark birds? If so I would say it is a toss up between the Eastern Bluebird and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.  All it takes was just one look. Spark bird, it is when a casual observance became an obsession over the birds. That's me, I am addicted to birds. Have you had a spark moment, a spark bird?

The Eastern Bluebird, my spark bird. One day I watched out my window at the Bluebirds checking out all the bird houses in my yard.  They were only house hunting and chose to find another home in someone else's yard. This is my unhappy face :(

I think the male above is telling his partner to go inside and check out my bird house.

Go ahead inside, what are you waiting for?

Now, the female is telling the male to go inside and check out the next house.

It is all about the location, location location.

Now, he is thinking his partner is just too picky. What is wrong with these two beautiful houses, they are right next to the blueberry bushes.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !

Here is a list of my linky parties;

  10. can´t remember having a spark bird moment. It was actually photography that opened my eyes to birding. They give me a challenge I need. They are beautiful, at least most of them. You can study behavier. looks. ages, plumage, you name it. Never stops. And you get to travel a lot :) I have favorites of course, who son´t. :)

  11. forgot aboutthe housing problem. My daughter and her husband was about to buy a cottage, but the bank said no. Guess the Bluebirds don´t have that problem. :)

  14. Great series of images … every picture tells the story.

My spark bird … hearing a Bittern boom for the first time AND then seeing this elusive species fly over a reedbed.

    Have a glorious weekend.

  15. I don’t know whether I have a spark bird, but I think that if I were absolutely pressed to pick a favourite it would be Black-capped Chickadee. I have seen almost 3,500of the world’s species but this wonderful little treasure is our friendly companion year- round, whatever the weather, and its lively chatter enlivens even the coldest day.

  18. Cute pics of all the birds, especially the male telling his mate to check out your bird house. I love birds and bemoan the fact that I don't get out to find them as much as before. My spark bird would be a kingfisher, especially the Giant Kingfisher. Thanks for hosting this meme. Have a great day. Jo

  20. Good morning Eileen. Your choice of spark birds in understandable - two lovely looking species. It's such a shame that the bluebirds chose your neighbours as their home. But with luck you will still see the birds around when they are feeding. And with luck they will choose your garden next year. Thanks for the link-up today.

  29. Hi Eileen, great post. Love your bluebird story. I am attracted to them but not having much luck getting them to live in my bluebird houses. I've put out three houses, mealworm feed but no one wants to stay. Two came and visited but moved on. Going to put a water source for them next.

  35. I imagine that if there's one bird that particularly stands out to me, it would have to be the blue heron, with its infinite patience while standing in water, waiting for a bite to come swimming by.

  36. Wonderful photos of the Bluebirds!
I have liked seeing birds all my life, but it was after I retired that I really began to pay attention to them. A few years ago I saw a Great Blue Heron standing in a drainage ditch, peering intently into the water. It was at the intersection of two busy streets near a Shopping Mall, and I was amazed to see it! As my husband stopped at the intersection, I rolled my car window down and snapped a few quick photos. I bought a bird book to get an ID, and I have been an avid bird-watcher ever since!
    Have a great weekend!

  59. The male Bluebird usually makes a ring of white pine needles to impress the female. Sometimes he makes a few presentations to get her to pick one.

  61. Fun post ( I've neither of these around here :)

  62. I totally understand and can why you love them, Eileen! There really are eye-catching and fun to watch.
My favorite is the Eastern Phoebe. But I have to admit, that the last few days I have been taken by the hodge-podge singing, loud and proud of a Catbird.

  64. Good morning Eileen! Your heart photo is just adorable and it spells out our love for critters, from all walks. You have brighten my rainy day, which just might be a blessing from the humid weather lately! Maybe. We'll see, but it's great for my baby tomato plants. Enjoy you DAY.

  65. We are birdless this year, at least as far as nesting birds. Our barn swallow pair disappeared and we had to take our tree swallow boxes down for construction. I sure miss their company. - Margy
