Saturday's Critters #238

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some images of birds and critters from my yard and some from our local fire road taken around June 10-15th.

I've been seeing at least three bunnies in the yard, this one has a couple ticks on it's side.

The Goldfinches love the thistle sock.

The Gray Catbird is always looking for the suet.

From our walk on the local fire road, we see the Scarlet Tanager.

A Great Blue Heron on the nest, seen from the fire road.

A Swallowtail butterfly seen near the fire road.

A juvenile Great Blue Heron has been seen in my yard , this time on my deck railing.

The Heron has been seen in my neighbors yard, this heron walked all the way around my house. I saw it pacing in front of the gate like it wanted to come inside the yard. Finally it walked toward the back of the yard, I think it can climb the pine trees branches back into it's nest.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments!

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Poor bunny! Those ticks are HUGE!

The scarlet tanager is gorgeous. I wonder if they come this far north. I'd love to attract THOSE to our yard.

What a colourful collection!
That butterfly is new to me. I know a different type of swallowtail.
Thanks and happy weekend!

Oh dear! The ticks on the bunny look well fed! Good to see the yellow and red birds. The juvenile Great Blue Heron would have entered your house if it had found an open door or window to satisfy its curiosity. Have a happy weekend, Eileen!

I have never seen a Scarlet Tanager, so your photos are especially beautiful to me. And to have a Heron perched on the deck rail - fantastic!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Seems really appropriate that you should see the Scarlet Tanager on a fire road!

Jenn Jilks said...

That is hilarious, the heron just cruisin' around!
Are you on a lake?
The poor bunny. I don't think they feel the ticks, once they get that large. Poor bunny.

Beautiful bright colors on the goldfinches and tanager! That's really cool to have a GBH on the deck! Kinda dwarfs all the other birds!

Morning Eileen. There's so much splendid colour in your post today. Just love those two contrasting goldfinch and the fabulous red shades of the tanager. The heron made me smile with the way it seems to be thinking of ways to attack that feeder but hasn't quite worked it out.

Thanks for the link today. Have a lovely weekend.

A proper menagerie today - herons are usually so wary, it is quite special that this one feels safe in your yard. YAM xx

Great shots!

I love the heron in your yard, how fun that would be. Some day I would like to see the scarlet tanager, so pretty!

Lovely goldfinches and tanagers. I will miss seeing them now that we no longer have a second home in Illinois. The catbirds will be back here for the winter in huge numbers. Those ticks appear to be engorged with rabbit blood. Poor thing may not even see or feel them in that location.

Beautiful birds Eileen.

Eileen - how wonderful to see a heron so close to your house. We have a frequent visitor at our lake, and if I start to look at him through binoculars, he takes off! I feel sorry for the bunny with those ticks - they must be really engorged if you can see them in a photo! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for hosting!

Hi Eileen, I am using my 9 year anniversary blog post again.
Your bunny is so sweet. We used to have so many and now we have none. There is a neighborhood very near where I met you and Michael and you have to drive slow, there are so many bunnies everywhere.
Have a beautiful week dear friend~

I am always so in awe of your yard birds! Love that thistle sock and the birds on it and especially love the tanager which I never see anywhere we are. Thank you so much for hosting and for your help with IDing my Pacific Loons. I looked it up on line and exactly what it was .... a sort of lifer for me (does it count if you don't know what it is until your mentor tells you?) Always grateful for your help.
