Hello and happy Monday
I am sharing some images from our visit to Calvert Cliffs State Park, located on Maryland's Western Shore. The park has 13 miles of trails, a sandy beach where you can search for fossils, fresh water and tidal marsh lands. The cliffs and shoreline are on the Chesapeake Bay, I enjoyed the views of the bay, a nearby lighthouse, hundreds of dragonflies and turtles. We saw a Belted Kingfisher, frogs, lizards and the Red-headed Woodpecker.
A wet section of the Red trail through the marshland to the beach and cliffs.
A Belted Kingfisher hanging out at the marshland.
Red-headed Woodpecker seen on a dead tree at the marshland.
There were hundreds of waterlilies on the marshes.

Me and my shadow hubby!
I was asked a lot on my previous post about beaver and being warned to look for the beaver. The beaver den is right next to the trail. Beavers have been known to attack people if they feel threatened.

A look across the bay to Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
A lineup of Terns, possibly Osprey and Cormorants?
Thanks for your visit today! I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Hello Eileen,
Beautiful photos! The waterlilies are so pretty, and very nice photo of them. I love the lighthouse too.
Happy Monday, and enjoy your new week ahead!
Looks like a great place to visit. Anywhere on the ocean is productive habitat.
Maravilhoso passeio que rendeu ótimos cliques e fotos!Adorei ver! Ótima nova semana! beijos, chica
...another beautiful spot.
13 miles!
Boy could I get pleasantly lost. I get lost everywhere I go. My wife can't let me out of her sight at Walmart.
Love your shots.
What a great place to visit and I love the shadow pic of the two of you! That dragonfly is very pretty and love the woodpecker! Lots of wildlife there! Hugs!
Good day to you, Eileen. These are more of your well documented critters (and scenery). Thanks for identifying them. Guess the beavers were napping when you stopped by! Barb
So green and lush there. That must have been so wonderful to walk around.
What a lovely place to visit. So many delightful things to see.
Incredible beauty! That bay is a pretty area as I remember from our trip long ago.
Gorgeous photos! Such a beautiful dragonfly.
I like all of your photos today, Eileen! Especially fond of the lighthouse, woodpecker and that gorgeous dragonfly! Have a beautiful week.
I think the woodpecker is playing pi pi with you and us... that walkway is one I would not be able to walk on, I get dizzy without a rail, I have not seen any like this here. every boardwalk has railings and are much higher than this one, it is beautiful
what a great post eileen!! i really enjoyed seeing the kingfisher and the read headed woodpecker. the capture of the woodpecker is awesome!!
the waterlily capture is exceptional, i love the perspective of it!! i have been seeing so many dragonflies, more than any previous year. i have not been able to get a picture, and believe me i have tried. i am just not quick enough!!!
this looks like a great/fun park to wander around!!!
There! I have caught up Reading all your blogposts, tho I did not comment on each... I am so behind, and just cannot keep up with comments! I have enjoyed coming along with you on your outings... I haven't been out in many weeks, due to the deluge of biting insects from the constant rain! So I am living vicariously thru your nature walks! From Ospreys to a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher! And potential Beavers, and frogs, lighthouses, rivers, gorges, gorgeous sunsets... Thank you for sharing so much with us! I truly appreciate it! Hugs!
Lovely series of nature shots ~ all wonderful!
Happy Day to you,

The lighthouse, what a grand building, And the water scenes, so beautiful.
Fantastic shots all the way, especially the Woodpecker and the Five-lined Skink, lovely.
I have to admit that I wondered about your beaver warning! I thought the only problem with them is the flooding they can cause with their dams!
Looks like you had great weather!
Great photo of the red headed woodpecker. What a wonderful area with such a variety of habitats.
Beautiful part of your country! The lighthouse is lovely. What a coincidence: I saw beavers last Saturday... we visited a zoo not far from home. Have a nice week ahead!
Beautiful captures, I enjoyed the whole post!
lovely images, particularly the dragonfly.
This place sounds like a nature lovers' paradise.
Worth a Thousand Words

Like the red headed woodpecker,
The Dragonfly is stunning . . .
And Chesapeake Bay views were inviting . . .
What amazing shots. I love love that woodpecker!
Loved your post. Awesome photos.
That is a pretty wood pecker. Nice shot of the light house and the shadow! I can see the sign of peace! Have a great day!
What a great looking place - lots of different habitats, so I assume you can always find something to see.

Another great spot! I always hope to get close enough to a beaver to take a decent photo so far that has not happened I didn't know they will attack good to know. Enjoy the week.
The dragonfly shot is stunning! The wings are like crepe paper. Amazing it can fly!
Sounds like a great place to visit. Next time we're down there we will have to investigate. I learn about a lot of places thanks to you Eileen. Great photos as always. Enjoy your day :)
Your shot of the woodpecker is my favourite of these.
Super images Eileen. Sharp shot of the Woodpecker. Kingfishers are hard to capture too.
What a neat place to visit

Such a beautiful spot with so many beautiful pictures! I remember having so much fun fossil hunting when I lived in New Jersey!
This is a beautiful place, the beach looks deserted and inviting. Interesting last photo - the birds look like sculptures on posts specially made for them.
Enjoy your week!

Hi Eileen,
I love fossils so I would love to be there :-)
Beautiful pictures of the woodpeckers but also of the water tower and the water itself.
A nice place to be and relax.
Greetings, Helma
Nice place ! I love the dragonfly !
Looks a great place, all very nice photographs.
I always enjoy your waving shadow shots and the Red-headed Woodpecker looks good on that tree.
Enjoy your week
All the best Jan
That's a beautiful park. I wish I'd spent some time exploring the Chesapeake Bay when I lived in Maryland.
Nice picture of the red headed woodpecker.
Great shot of the dragonfly. Beautiful and so delicate looking and such a pretty color.
Looks like a wonderful place to visit. The waterlilies are beautiful. I would enjoy having some of those fresh crabs.
A great walk, beautiful scenery and great birds ...those are definitely crab cages or crab pots as we call them. We used to go crabbing on the Oregon Coast and noticed when we went ‘up East’ that they used the same kind of traps even if they are different kind of crabs. .. Thank you for the info about beavers! I had no idea.
Lovely post. I’ve heard about hunting fossils there. It’s famous for sharks teeth.
Hello Eileen,
Fantastic pictures of these beautiful birds.
Great photo of the red-headed woodpecker.
Best regards, Irma

The dragonfly is my favorite of the group
