Our World, My World

Happy Monday, wishing everyone a happy day and new week!

On Oct 23, hubby and I took a walk to the lake looking for some colors in our neighborhood. This is a short walk, less than a mile round trip from our house.  Here are some views of the lake and I managed to find my first of the year Brown Creeper.

Views of our lake and some fall colors.

Two Double-crested Cormorants found a spot to perch in the middle of the lake.

There were actually 3 Cormorants, two together and one just a little further away.

Sun's reflecting on the lake.

Canada Geese come in for a landing.

The Canada Geese have landed on the lake.

Some pretty red leaves.

My FOY Brown Creeper.  I also heard some Kinglets nearby.

A view of the trail as we headed home.

Thanks for your visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.

Thanks to the hosting team of Our World Tuesday!
I hope to see you there. Thanks to the host today. Enjoy your day and new week.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

  8. Hi Eileen, great to see a more natural setting for a lake...ours (about half the size of yours probably) is pretty civilized. I don't think I've ever seen a brown creeper...he's cute. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Alchemy of Cay

  11. The Brown Creeper is a precious little bird, I don't think I've ever seen one. We hiked yesterday. It's a great time of year to get outside! Beautiful pics of the lake!

  12. you have some pretty color eileen, we have very little right now!! i enjoy seeing the cormorants, drying their wings while perched on a rock, it is a common sight!! the creeper is cute, a little like the carolina wren in shape!!!

  13. Brown creepers are hard to spot as they blend in so well. Yesterday I saw hundreds of snow geese, about 50 tundra swans, thousands of Canada geese and lots of ducks on the same small lake. However, all our leaves are gone.

  19. The little brown creeper is adorable. He has some mighty sharp claws though.

  20. Creepers are hard to see, I watch for their downward movement. Those cormorants have to dry off once in a while and look eerie with a bunch in a tree with their wings out.

  21. A great place for a walk filled with wildlife.

  22. The last photo, so pretty, and your leaf colours, we do have them here, but the South Island has the deeper reds and oranges, where the winter is much colder.

  24. Such a pretty day and beautiful walk, Eileen. Cormorants are such funny birds - they seem to find the most amazing perches! Hope you continue to have more beautiful, fall days like this before Old Man Winter knocks on the door! xx Karen

  25. Your 1 mile walk from home looks so much different than my urban one is! It could be an interesting series to try various 1 mile routes - I may do it!

  26. Hi There, Love your pictures.. We have that Creeper ---all over some of the trees in the empty lot next door... It's a nuisance --but pretty in Autumn (especially for me --who loves the REDS)....

Love your Shenandoah/Skyline Drive photos... We saw the sunrise at that same overlook a couple of years ago... GORGEOUS.

    Pretty view from Bearfence Mtn....

South River Falls sounds intriguing--but not sure I could do it now.... I about killed myself yesterday doing a 4 miler --with almost 475 feet in elevation change.... At least, the one I did was UP first and down coming back (which I easier for me)...

    Hugs,
    Betsy
