Happy Monday, wishing everyone a happy day and new week!
On Oct 23, hubby and I took a walk to the lake looking for some colors in our neighborhood. This is a short walk, less than a mile round trip from our house. Here are some views of the lake and I managed to find my first of the year Brown Creeper.
Views of our lake and some fall colors.
Two Double-crested Cormorants found a spot to perch in the middle of the lake.
There were actually 3 Cormorants, two together and one just a little further away.
Sun's reflecting on the lake.
Canada Geese come in for a landing.
The Canada Geese have landed on the lake.
Some pretty red leaves.
My FOY Brown Creeper. I also heard some Kinglets nearby.
A view of the trail as we headed home.
Thanks for your visit today! I hope you enjoyed my post and photos.
Thanks to the hosting team of Our World Tuesday!
I hope to see you there. Thanks to the host today. Enjoy your day and new week.
As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. The colors are so pretty. Here have all of the leaves fallen from the trees. We are expecting snowstorm tomorrow.
Happy Monday, and happy new week!
I am sure you enjoyed your walk very much. It’s a beautiful spot and so close to home. I hope those Canada Geese brought my good wishes with them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk, Eileen! A reminder of why I love fall that is passing much too quickly! Enjoy your Monday!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place for a walk and to enjoy nature and birds!
Very beautiful pictures and Autumn images! Like the Autumn colors of the trees and the leaves!
Great captures of the Cormorants and the lovely birds! Thank you for sharing!
Wishing you a lovely day and a happy week!

Very beautiful photos, I wouldn't say no for a walk there !
ReplyDeleteIt's always lovely going on a walk with you Eileen.
ReplyDeleteWhat magnificent scenery you have so close to home, the lake is beautiful and serene.
You made a beautiful collage of photos.
How wonderful that the Canada Geese flew in.
Cheers and may your week be full of happiness, Sue :D)
This is definitely hiking weather.
ReplyDeleteIt is almost 30 degrees cooler here this morning than it was a week ago.
...wonderful fall colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, great to see a more natural setting for a lake...ours (about half the size of yours probably) is pretty civilized. I don't think I've ever seen a brown creeper...he's cute. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Alchemy of Cay
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful neighborhood. So much beautiful nature...and the Brown Creeper is a new discovery to me. Good to see it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous - it is a wonderful season is it not?! YAM xx
The Brown Creeper is a precious little bird, I don't think I've ever seen one. We hiked yesterday. It's a great time of year to get outside! Beautiful pics of the lake!
ReplyDeleteyou have some pretty color eileen, we have very little right now!! i enjoy seeing the cormorants, drying their wings while perched on a rock, it is a common sight!! the creeper is cute, a little like the carolina wren in shape!!!
ReplyDeleteBrown creepers are hard to spot as they blend in so well. Yesterday I saw hundreds of snow geese, about 50 tundra swans, thousands of Canada geese and lots of ducks on the same small lake. However, all our leaves are gone.
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate to have this beautiful area to walk in so close to your home, Eileen! You always find the most beautiful sights of nature there.
ReplyDeleteyou found lots of gorgeous color and sweet little birds and I LOVE that trail through the trees
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Eileen. Love the look of that trail.
ReplyDeleteYour lake is gorgeous! What a beautiful area for photos.
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely to live near this very beautiful place and what delightful photos! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,

The little brown creeper is adorable. He has some mighty sharp claws though.
ReplyDeleteCreepers are hard to see, I watch for their downward movement. Those cormorants have to dry off once in a while and look eerie with a bunch in a tree with their wings out.
ReplyDeleteA great place for a walk filled with wildlife.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo, so pretty, and your leaf colours, we do have them here, but the South Island has the deeper reds and oranges, where the winter is much colder.
ReplyDeleteThank you for always sharing beauty and Aloha, Eileen
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty day and beautiful walk, Eileen. Cormorants are such funny birds - they seem to find the most amazing perches! Hope you continue to have more beautiful, fall days like this before Old Man Winter knocks on the door! xx Karen
ReplyDeleteYour 1 mile walk from home looks so much different than my urban one is! It could be an interesting series to try various 1 mile routes - I may do it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place for a walk :)
ReplyDeleteHi There, Love your pictures.. We have that Creeper ---all over some of the trees in the empty lot next door... It's a nuisance --but pretty in Autumn (especially for me --who loves the REDS)....
ReplyDeleteLove your Shenandoah/Skyline Drive photos... We saw the sunrise at that same overlook a couple of years ago... GORGEOUS.
Pretty view from Bearfence Mtn....
South River Falls sounds intriguing--but not sure I could do it now.... I about killed myself yesterday doing a 4 miler --with almost 475 feet in elevation change.... At least, the one I did was UP first and down coming back (which I easier for me)...
Hugs,
Betsy

Of all the photos, i think the 4th photo touched me the most. It highlighted the sun beam with the calm water and wood. Lovely
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of Autumn colours. We also get cormorants here in Perth. They are quite funny when standing with their wings open to dry.
ReplyDeletePretty place to walk. Lots of great color
ReplyDeleteMB

ReplyDeleteI love red leaves.
