Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
The our neighborhood Great Blue Heron season is ending. On July 29th I could still hear some of the herons fussing up on the nest. I can only assume the adult herons still bring food back to the nest and the chicks go crazy. Or maybe some herons return to the nest after they fledge?
Some of the herons still have the fuzzy feathers on their heads.
I could count at least 6 herons on different nests. Some nest had 2 heron chicks. I think most of the herons have already left their nest. Maybe these were born later?
The Great Blue Heron chicks look full grown to me.
The next two photos were taken on 7/26. As of Aug 1st, I am still hearing some heron noises coming from the nest area.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;

I'm loving your heron. He has such an alert, curious look about him, I think he may well be a gossip.

The Great Blue Heron chicks look big and they do have long necks. Thank you for hosting and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of this blue heron.
Photo 2 and 4 are my favorite.
Do you want to place my link, I still can't do it.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Best regards, Irma
They are sometimes funny birds too...they have their own way to look around.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend with a lot of captures!
Hi Eileen!!! Nice pictures of this beautiful Heron.. Happy Agost. Cheers
ReplyDeleteit is quite cool to see those images. It is easy to mistake the heron from the branches of teh tree :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see young ones. :)
Wishing you a great week. Today is a bit windy so I think I´ll be going out. :)
Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images! The Great Blue Heron is very pretty. Thank you for hosting.
Happy Weekend!
Wonderful photos of the Blue Heron. They sure do grow fast.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and weekend! Thanks for hosting.
Linda e gosto de ver os ninhos! beijos praianos, chica
ReplyDelete...beautiful captures of a favorite of mine, thanks for hosting Eileen.
ReplyDeleteI envy the way you are able to get these pictures, Eileen. We have a colony near to us but by this time of the year trees are so dense the nests are virtually blocked from view. Good for the herons though.
ReplyDeleteThe herons are wonderful birds. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Eileen. I expect that the herons laid eggs at different days, so yes, there may be some smaller youngsters yet to leave. If so, more fun and pictures for you in the coming days. Thank you for logging the herons for us.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite critters. You captured them well. Happy Day.
ReplyDeletethis is a great heron series eileen, this is one of my favorite large birds!! i can still see a little "fuzz" on top, but in their markings, they look like adults!! you are so lucky to see these guys grow up and to have them so close!!
ReplyDeletemany thanks for hosting, have a great weekend!!!
Off into the big world they go, I hope each have a carefree life. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Between the tree and his long neck, that's quite a view!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, especially the last one.

ReplyDeleteWonderful glimpses of the heron/s, Eileen - what a joy it must be to have watched them develop! YAM xx
Magnificent birds, Eileen, and that first photo is just amazing!
ReplyDeletePS: Thanks for hosting, Eileen. Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how ungainly these large birds are. I watched one down by the pond try to land in a deciduous tree...couldn't do it and had to fly off. Unfortunately this heron is probably cleaning out all the life in that little pond. But as littler grandson who is 5 wisely says, that's nature taking its course.
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen.....just love the photo's of the Herons...Magnificent. Thanks for coming by my post and leaving a comment. Enjoy the rest of your weekend
ReplyDeleteThey are so huge to be living up in trees...but of course it's just because I've only seen them wading down in the edges of ponds! Have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots of the heron in the treetop. It's wonderful and comical at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I love watching and photographing the herons. Mine is a black night heron for this week. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeletethey are all amazing photos but for some reason, number 2 made me smile really big. he looks like a heron periscope or a heron jack in the box... they are so beautiful
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the Herons!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Fantastic photography of the Great Blue Heron family ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to You,

Lovely close-ups of these majestic birds!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Eileen.
Happy WE to you!!
Peace :)
Do the herons go south for the winter?
ReplyDeleteWonderful successful season for the herons! Our local rookery was so disturbed by tree cutting that the only two Yellow-crowned Night-Heron nests were abandoned before eggs were laid.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to be able to watch the nests and see them change! What amazing photos of these beautiful birds! Enjoy your weekend! (I just got back from a hike...it's hot but hey...it's Florida! heehee) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWe had a young robin at the bird bath thoday. They must be on brood #3!
ReplyDeleteYes the younger birds look like adults as quickly as possible. Defensive I suppose
ReplyDeleteThey're such graceful birds!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures of the herons!!!
ReplyDeleteYour are so lucky to be able to watch the heron chicks grow up, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteThat's nice !
ReplyDeleteWonderful close-ups of herons, Eileen.

ReplyDeleteAmazing pics.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful post.
Such awesome birds!
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen!
ReplyDeleteFörträffliga bilder av den stolta och vackra hägern! Det är svårt att fotografera fåglar, de poserar inte så som vi önskar men du har verkligen lyckats få till bilderna och hägerns stolta uppsyn!
Stunning photos of the Heron, how wonderful to watch them grow.
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
Absolutely beautiful Herons, really close ups.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteEileen, these photos are priceless!
ReplyDeleteStopping by and adding your link to share with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Eileen, in front of my work there is as artifical lake with fishes and turtles and a heron that lives there. I'm always taking pictures of this heron. She's so beautful and elegant.

Good morning Eileen, what a gorgeous day it was, your heron and as always critters out in their habitat is a joy to see, but especially today your lovely blue colored sky just kept taking my attention!
ReplyDeleteI got some pictures once of a mother GBH feeding her chick who was as big as she was... the “baby” kept poking at her, like she wasn’t feeding him fast enough.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you love to know for sure just how many chicks there were. Sure made for a fun summer to see your photos of them.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteA great collection of photographs.
All the best Jan
SIX herons? BE still my heart!
ReplyDeleteWhat glorious photos of one of my favorite birds!
