Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
We were dog-sitting Nibbles and Chewy while my son and DIL went on their honeymoon. I think Nibbles and Chewy loved going on walks with us.
Nibbles took on the job of watching for squirrels.
Oct 12th I saw 3 Monarchs at our Butterfly bush.
One morning, I looked out my dining room window to see this Hawk on my deck railing. I was glad I did not put out my bird feeders earlier.
I am guessing this is the immature Cooper's Hawk, it was looking all around for a meal.
We had a surprise visitor early Friday morning, my hubby woke me up at 2am saying we had a black bear on the deck. It knocked over a metal trash can that had a heavy cinder block on top. I keep all my bird feeders and seed in the trash can, the heavy block was to keep critters like raccoons from eating my seed. Obviously the heavy cinder block did not deter the bear any. Hubby had a view from our kitchen window at the bear's butt sticking out of the trash can. The trash can was right outside and under the window. I had a good view of the medium sized bear walking away by our gate and down the end of the driveway. The bears have been seen in our area for the last month or so.
I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments !
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the gracious host: Anni.

Very creative dog names :) You got some really nice shots of the hawk. Really scary to have a bear intrusion.
The hawk is quite nice to see too, anyway. Bears are an embarassing presence...we do not have any in our neighbouhood, but in eastern Finland where the landscape is wilder, there are bears.
Enjoy your weekend and your cute dogs!
Bears on the back deck now that is something i've never seen .
Merle.......
A handsome hawk visiting you! Dogs are the best pets <3
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful dogs, and they are such good company. Pretty Hawk and Monarchs too. It must be nice to watch butterflies now. Here they are gone.
Black bear? Be careful!
Happy weekend!
You have the beautiful Monarchs! Tom too!
... you all want to make me jealous! LOL
The hawk is also very beautiful.
Have a nice and blessed weekend, Eileen!
Hello Eileen,
Beautiful pictures of the dogs and also of this Cooper's Hawk.
What an experience to get a black bear in your garden.
Too bad you couldn't take pictures of it.
Do you want to add my link, I still can't do it.
Best regards, Irma
Nibbles and Chewy are beautiful dogs. I love taking dogs for walks but no more since I am not keeping a dog now. The bear knows where to get easy meal. Thank you, Eileen for hosting and have a beautiful weekend!

That does indeed look to be what I understand as a Coopers Hawk (based only on other images seen!) - very handsome, but certainly could be trouble for the smaller birds. Crikey, hope those bears don't become too regular as visitors. Is there some noise deterrant you could use to make it think it has company? They are fun to watch, but not really the best to have in the yard! YAM xx
Wow, the bears are invading. I had them demolish two of my feeders in New Mexico. I knew to bring them in but forgot one night and paid dearly! Nice big Cooper's Hawk. One has been terrorizing my favorite birding spot. When I flush it out it simply moves to the other end.
Songbirds watch out! Great bird to have in your deck though.
Simpáticos os cachorros e lindas aves e borboletas.Como sempre belas as tuas fotos! beijos, chica, lindo fim de semana!
Hello Eileen
great to see the hawk.
Really beautiful photos.
I have shared the kingfishers and kelintjes because I had never done that before.
Have a nice weekend.
Greetings, Helma
I would totally freak out if a bear was in our yard... so the bear came to the bird buffet and the hawk came to the bird buffet, but the hawk got NONE and the bear got it ALL...
The cooper's hawk is incredible, a great shot. A bear on your porch, that is absolutely wild. When I had dogs, walking was always nice, I miss that these days. Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
Happy puppies. Sleepovers at Gramma's!
I love the hawk. Nature and the circle of life. The bear is problematic, isn't it?! I have not had one since September. This is good!
Hello, LOL, I have smart song birds. They know when it is safe to come out. Thanks for the comment, happy weekend.
Hello Ken, my feeders will not be hanging out for awhile now. I hope the bears moves on. Thanks for the comment, enjoy your weekend.
Thanks Yam! I hope the bear is not a regular visitor. I am sad to have to put away my bird feeders for awhile. Enjoy your weekend!
Nibbles and Chewy are nice dogs, you are lucky.....
I love butterfly, colorful....
Have a wonderful weekend
Two Happy Pups - Enjoy Every Outing With Them - I Know They Sure Enjoy YOU - Fabulous Photos All Around!!!
Cheers
Good grief. Nobody wants a prowler, especially the bear kind.
The dogs look so anxious to go! Adorable pups!
What lovely dogs they are, Eileen! They must love coming over to stay with you as I am sure you spoil them rotten!
Awesome hawk sighting and photos! Just to say you've had a bear at your house is kind of a neat thing! Both looking for something to eat like all the others, I suppose.
Hmmm, a bear in one's yard is not a sight that many people would welcome. They're fine creatures out in the wild, but as there is less and less wild nowadays, we will see such creatures foraging for food closer to our homes.
Lovely dogs.. Happy weekend Eileen..
Lindos estes animais e aproveito para desejar um bom fim-de-semana.

Thanks Jenn! The furbabies think they are on vacation at our place. They go on walks twice a day. I hope the bear moves on, so far only the one sighting. Happy weekend!
Thank you Tanza! Enjoy our weekend!
Hello, thanks! The grand dogs did enjoy their walk and stay with us. Happy weekend!
Hello, it was fun having the dogs stay with us, they do enjoy the walks. The bear is not a good visitor, I hope it moved on. Happy weekend to you!
Thanks Nick! They do love going on walks with us! Happy weekend!
Thanks Brian! The bear sighting was the first time in 30 years. I hope it does not stick around. Enjoy your day and weekend!
Hi Nick, the bear sighting is neat, just not in my yard. I hope it has moved on. Wishing you a great new week ahead.
Hi Ana, thanks for the visit and comment. Happy weekend!
Hello Francisco, thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your day!
Thanks Nick! I appreciate your comments. Have a great day!
Thanks Tom! Enjoy your weekend!
Lol, I like the bears just not in my yard or neighborhood. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy your weekend.
What a great photo of the young cooper's hawk where you used the curtains as a frame.
Hi Eileen. Shame you didn't see the bear. But anyway you might have just seen its butt! Great shots of the hawk. An interesting yard you have there.
Have a great weekend. I hope you get some pics of the bear (from the front).
Hello Phil, I did get to see the bear out in the open by our gate as it was leaving. The moonlight was bright that night, just no photos. Thanks for the comment. Happy weekend!
Thanks Red, I had to take the photo from inside my dining room. If I moved I would have spooked the bird away. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your day and weekend!
Love them squirrel watching dogs. Butterflies are always beautiful. Cool
Oh my! A bear on your deck ~ too close for comfort ~ Great nature photos and love the doggies ^_^

Oh my gosh- I would be so excited, but also scared to see a bear! Just waddling away...wow! Great shot of the hawk...I like to see them, off season of my martins because they pull the little ones out. Love the pups!
Bear visitors make a mess. We have one who has visited my garbage can twice over the two weeks and after cleaning up the last mess I decided to keep the can inside and put up with the smell rather than have a big visitor. Lovely to see the two dear dogs having their holiday with you. Love visiting.
Joy
Hope you having good company in dogs while the newly wed got to enjoy their honeymoon! Excellent capture on the hawk that looking around for its prey and it sounds exciting of the bear’s visit at midnight.
Happy Weekend
What a fabulous post! Happy dogs, a hawk and a bear! Very cool,E
Hello,
Thanks for the comment! Enjoy your weekend!
Hello, Carol! Yes, it was too close for a bear visitor. I hope it is gone. I hope your day is great!
Thank you Isabella! Enjoy your weekend!
Hello Terri, I hope that bear is still waddling away from here. Thanks for the visit and comment. Happy weekend to you!
Hello, Joy! I have seen bears at trash cans, they can make a mess. Raccoons do too! Thanks for the visit. I hope your day is great!
Thanks Jeevan! I hope your day and new week are great!
Thanks Cloudia! Enjoy your day!
Thanks Linda! I hope your weekend is great!
Thanks Dee! They are good dogs. Enjoy your weekend!
You have a busy deck! A bear is not what you would like to see out there!
I love the Cooper's Hawk, and the dogs, beautiful.
Wonderful shots of the hawk. The dogs are good company.
Very nice photos, but where is the bear ?
Cool view from the window... And cute doggies :0)
Thank you for hosting.
I bet Nibbles and Chewy love to visit with you guys. Wonderful shots of the hawk. We have one in the neighborhood sometimes, but I don't know which it is. I have only seen it close once. I cannot imagine a bear on my deck!
Great shot of the hawk!!
We can't put any bird seed out at all because of the bears here.
Two dogs, lovely, so much fun to have.
How exciting to have the Cooper so close and a bear too!! I love bear and I know they are dangerous but still it's so nice to know they are figuring out how to survive in this world in spite of us humans! I bet the dogs went crazy sniffing where the bear had been.
great shots of the hawk. :) And what a story? A bear in the garden. But they seem to like trashcans. Strange isn´t it??
Nibbles and Chewy do look very happy and every home should have a squirrel watcher/alerter. Great photos of the hawk. One was sitting on Daughter's fence last Tuesday and when I moved to the window to get a photo, it flew away. Drat!
Beautiful post and pics.
That hawk is majestic!
I love all critters, but a bear on my porch might be going a wee bit over the line for me! They are so strong and so smart! ... Glad you could be there to take care of the honeymoon couples dogs! They obviously enjoyed their vacation at your house!
Awww, such lovely photographs of the dogs.
That hawk looks wonderful too … but goodness me what an experience to get a bear in your garden...
Take care.
All the best Jan
Sweet pups and that hawk is amazing! I could stare at it for a long time. Great photos Eileen. Happy new week to you!
Oh a bear on the deck, is that scary? I'm not sure how I'd react! The dogs look like they've enjoyed their honeymoon adventures with you!
Happy Wanderings Eileen :)
