Happy Monday everyone!

Happy Earth Day!!!
April is rolling along quickly, our weather has been crazy. The temperatures this month are up and down, tornado watches, snow, heavy rain, wind and frost If you wait a minute the weather will change. The trees are blossoming and looking beautiful. For some reason my neighborhood is way behind other nearby areas with bloom time in our state. I am happy to see the dayliles, irises, bushes, plants and trees all seem to be off to a great start.
April 14th, I am still seeing some of my winter yard birds along with the summer birds. The 3 birds together, are the WT SParrow, male Northern Cardinal with a House Finch, a lone Northern Cardinal. Bottom are the Hairy Woodpecker and another WT SParrow.
Some scenes from around the yard, maple tree, creeping phlox, blooming Dogwood and Redbud trees.
The Japanese Maple trees in the front yard are turning a pretty red.
The Creeping Phlox is looking pretty.
My yard birds seen on April 14th, an American Goldfinch male in his pretty summer colors, a winter Dark-eyed Junco, a winter White-throated Sparrow and a male House Finch.
I love the curly ferns, they will be open soon.
I have quite a few Chipping Sparrows in my yard, they are sweet birds.
The dogwood and the Redbud trees are blooming and looking pretty.
I pray everyone is healthy and remains safe. Take care.

Looks like my daffodils in the backyard aren't going to bloom. :-( The dogwood is just about open. The front daffs are just about done. Peonies, astilbe and Lily of the Valley are getting ready to take over. I think it is going to be awhile for my huge azaleas.
ReplyDeleteThankfully ALL the backyard bushes look like they survived the winter, including the 4 winterberry bushes we planted pretty late.
Thanks Dee! I do love spring time, such a beautiful time of the year. All the lovely flowers and blossoms. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy, healthy new week!

DeleteWhat a beautiful yard you have and I'm sure it's even better because you know what you're looking at. I see a lot of sparrows and robins around here that look fat and pregnant, they all can't be pregnant can they? The sparrows have built another nest in the fireplace vent at my mother's so it's a good thing maintenance is so bad at fixing it. The sparrows also seem to be picking at the outdoor carpet to add to their nest, at least that's what I think they're doing.
ReplyDeleteI love the finches and white-throated sparrow. The curly ferns are cool.
Hello Jeanna, it will be nice to see all the baby birds. Thank you! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy, healthy new week!
DeleteBeautiful photos. I love all the birds especially the cardinal! Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the comment! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy, healthy new week!
DeleteOh Eileen - how you make me homesick for the backyards of my youth - phlox, dogwood, cardinals … In the past week, I have seen a male goldfinch and a family of house finches at my feeders, so I know spring is on the way! But of course, being in Montana and at a higher elevation, we are a few weeks behind you. So grateful to see what I can expect. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, my friend!

ReplyDeleteHello Jill
DeleteSpring time is a lovely time of the year. Thank you for the comment! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy, healthy new week!
Your yard is looking beautiful. As Spring is with you we are coming into Autumn but we don't have fall. the trees are not deciduous but we have beautiful sunny weather without the searing heat of summer. It's a shame we can't go out. Luckily we are flattening the curve. No new cases in the last two days.
ReplyDeleteHello,Diane
DeleteI would enjoy your weather year round! Sounds Nice! Thank you for the comment! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy, healthy new week!
Wonderful bird captures! Up here in New England it’s been crazy weather as well. I wish it would warm up enough to be able to sit in the back garden.

ReplyDeleteWonderful to see nature bloomed pretty around you in company of cute, colourful birds! Lovely photo from your yard and I hope you all stay safe at home
ReplyDeleteTake care
I don't recall ever seeing a rosebud or dogwood tree in person. Both are so beautiful. It must be an amazing sight when the blooms fall. And you have a cute green rocking chair perfect for sitting and watching. Chirp, chirp. Chirp. Happy days to you, Eileen. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely shots!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen,
ReplyDeletereally great photos and beautiful birds. Your flowers also make me happy. With these kind of photos you really get a bit happy again.
Fortunately we are also healthy and I hope to stay that way. Also think carefully about yourself and your safety.
