Happy Easter everyone! I am sure no one expected to be on lock down at this time. I do pray everyone is safe and healthy.
I still have one last place we visited during our early March 8-10th getaway. It was the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Cambridge Maryland. It was a great place to visit with wonderful bird sightings.
March 10th, below are a few of the birds we saw, I hope you enjoy......all photos were taken out the car window.
As usual we saw a lot of eagles. There are 2 Bald Eagles on the photo below, one in the nest and one standing in front of the nest.
A juvenile Bald Eagle perched on the top of a dead tree, below him on the ground were a group of Vultures eating something.
Below a large group of Snow Geese hanging out with some Tundra Swans.
Hello....I see you..Snow Goose..
We watched the White Pelicans on the water and even more were flying in and landed .
A large group of White Pelicans could be seen from the wildlife drive. They swim together in tight circles herding fish..
It is fun to watch the Snow Geese take off sounding an alert, only to circle and land in the same spot. The Tundra Swans ignored them and stay where they were, with nothing to worry about.
If you look closely, there is a Bald Eagle standing behind this group of White Pelicans. Groups of the White Pelicans were all around.
We found another Bald Eagle nest, seen from the wildlife drive.
I stopped the car to watch this Northern Harrier working the field, it flew across the road in front of and circled around. An id tip for the Harrier (in the center of the photo) is the white band on the upper tail.
Thanks to all my visitors and for all the wonderful comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.
Here is a list of my linky parties;
Also visit: I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Thanks to the host Anni.

love the huge nests, and that you can walk safely there. We are in total lockdown, just over half way of the estimated 4 weeks, but we all are thinking it will go on for a lot longer. Another 3 deaths this weeks, all elderly and frail, family could not be with them. SO sad. Take care, fond greetings, Jean.
ReplyDeleteHello Jean,
DeleteWe are seeing too many of the elderly in nursing homes dying from the virus.
We can go out for a walk, making sure to keep our distance. I live in a rural area, not as many people around as in a city. We do drive 15 minutes to the food store, hubby went to the store by himself the last time wearing a mask I made for him.
Thanks for the visit and comment.Take care and stay well.
Happy Easter to you and yours.
Hello Eileen
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful shots again! The bald eagle is wonderful and exciting to watch it like this at the pelicans or to see it in its nest wonderfully and I have never seen the snow geese too.
I wish you a nice Easter and take care of yourself and stay alive and well with your husband!
Hugs, Elke
Thank you Elke. I wish you and yours a very happy and blessed Easter! Take care and stay safe!

DeleteGreat to see the Bald Eagles doing so well. Our local pair were on the nest yesterday and I saw two Greater Yellowlegs, my first shorebirds of the spring. It may be difficult to get to some of the local hotspots, however,
ReplyDeleteHello, David. Thanks for the comment. I hope I do not miss the shorebirds passing through, this lockdown seems to go on forever. Have a great weekend!

DeleteWe love seeing the Northern Harriers here and can tell by that big swath of white across the back near the tail. LOVE seeing all the geese and swans! WOW! And finding the Eagle's nest is amazing! I'm glad you were able to get out this week! We are getting out some....not as much though. Take care and thanks for the party! Hugs, DIane
ReplyDeleteHello Diane, thanks for the nice comment. Take care and stay well. Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteGreat variety this week. Don't think I've ever seen a snow goose. The RG 'distanced' in the boat for the first time this week and observed an Eagle on its nest in the propagation zone at the local state park.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gayle! I always enjoy seeing the eagles. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
DeleteMostly, we have smaller birds. I enjoy seeing yours! Someone reported an adult eagle, with two juveniles, on our local lake.

ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra!
DeleteThe wildlife refuge drive is nice, I can use the car as a blind, not spooking off the birds.
Take care and enjoy your day!
Hello Eileen. And a Happy Easter to you too. You seem to have lots of Bald Eagles in your area. What a good sign that is that a top predator can make a living and that they are note persecuted. Stay safe and let's hope we can all get out for some new birding soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil! It is always a treat for us to see the eagles. Take care and enjoy your weekend!
DeleteHappy Easter to you too, Eileen! Lovely shots of the eagles.

DeleteThar was a very productive trip! We have had American White Pelicans on our local wetlands a couple of times. I was able to shoot a video of them herding fish into a corner of the lake and then feasting. Such remarkable cooperation.

ReplyDeleteHello Terri, it is a treat to see the Eagles. Thank you for the comment and visit! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteI LOVE the shots of the eagle's nest and the juvenile. I am fascinated by them. I thought my first eagle pic was early last year here in Oklahoma, but while browsing through some of my old pics, I found one from 2 years ago in South Dakota. I took a pic of a flag stuck in a rock out in the middle of a lake, but on closer inspection there were 2 eagles perched in a tree next to it. Had I only known, I would have zoomed in on them, but I was too focused on the flag. :( Love your pics!
ReplyDeleteHello Betty, I love seeing the Eagles too! Thank you for the comment and visit! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
DeleteWow, very nice ! Happy Easter in return !!

Beijinhos! Tudo de bom!
