Our World, My World

Happy Monday,

Our world and my world has not been normal for over a year now. It would be nice to have everything feel normal again.  This week, I am looking forward to having President Biden in office. I am hoping and praying for peaceful times in our country. We may not agree on politics, but we can be respectful and kind to everyone. My post this week is on some of my favorite national parks, since we have not traveled due to COVID these images are from my archives.

One of my favorite parks is Yellowstone, the scenery and wildlife is just amazing.  The scenic drives in these parks, both Yellowstone and the Tetons in Wyoming are beautiful.

Grand Prismatic, largest hot spring in Yellowstone. It is the third largest hot spring in the world.

Various birds seen in the Yellowstone and Tetons National Parks.

Unidentified Hummingbird, Cinnamon Teal, Magpie,
Trumpeter Swan, Cedar Waxwing, Dusky Grouse,
female Mountain Bluebird, Osprey, White Pelican.

Yellowstone's Canyon...  "The best thing about memories is making them."

Glacier National Park in Montana, I am guessing the top left is the Swiftcurrent Lake, we stayed nearby, the Running Eagle Falls or also nicknamed Trick Falls. Lower left the Beargrass looked pretty and bottom right is near Logan Pass Visitor Center.

Going to the Sun, a very scenic drive in Glacier National Park.   This park road was a hair-raising drive for me.  We saw some Mountain Goats crossing this road, definitely keep your eyes on the road while driving.

A view of Glacier National Park in Montana.

Scenic view of  the Grand Canyon National Park.

"A good life is a collection of happy memories."

Grand Canyon and Colorado River

Arches National Park, the various rock formations all had names, if only I could remember them all.  The top left could be the Balance Rock.  I do remember the bottom left are the Three Sisters and the bottom right is the Landscape Arch.

Arches NP, Landscape Arch is the longest stone span. It stretches 306 feet and is only 11 feet thick at it's center.

"Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints."

Arches NP, Balance Rock.  "We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone."

"Never let your memories be greater than your dreams."

We are looking forward to the days when we feel safe to travel and take some road trips. My dream is to visit all of our National Parks.  Our world is beautiful and our country has some of the greatest National Parks to visit.  These are just of few of the National Parks that hubby and I have visited. Some parks we visited twice, my favorites are Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Grand Canyon, Bryce and  Zion.

Hubby and I continue to be happy and healthy, I hope everyone is doing well too.

  8. Life as normal was so long ago, I,too, hope it can return. Down here, you might not have seen all the drama on our Hauraki Gulf. as Dean Barker was at the helm of American Magic boat, Patriot, they were in the lead, turned round the marker buoy, got a HUGE gust. keeled over, and it took on water. All the crew were safe, but the hull sank and all that was showing was the mast. All other teams came to help, spectator boats offered assistance, and after a massive undertaking, they were towed, stern first, some 17km back to their base. This is a massive blow for team USA, and their next race would be in 5 days, all the electronics and hydraulics were flooded, a huge hole in the hull, but us Kiwis will rally round to give whatever help is needed. We have a cold wind, gusts of heavy rain, and I have a winter fleece jacket on,. Stay safe.XXX

I grinned at your hair-raising road – it reminded me of Independence Pass in the Rockies, where I had to shut my eyes, so just as well I wasn’t driving!

Hi Eileen, Really enjoyed seeing your memories, I also visited these same places, and most of them with my Mom so memories made even more precious in her company...We have the most beautiful parks in the world and yet we have to cry out for them to be protected and properly managed. To me that should never be in question. All of us will be happy to have a new and decent person at the helm of the nation.

  65. Hello dearest Eileen!
In Europe, we watched the US election and the events related to it breathlessly - and I also hope that the USA will now experience calmer times. Your Yellowstone photos are wonderful - we were in some national parks, but unfortunately we didn't make it to Yellowstone - I only saw a TV movie about the return of the wolves and how it has changed the landscape in a positive way. And we were in Iceland a few years ago, where we saw (and smelled ;-)) hot springs and geysers. We have been to Grand Canyon National Park too, and Arches reminds me of Bryce Canyon (apart from the longest stone span). There are such fascinating natural beauties in the world. Happy are those who can actually look back on such memories. But I hope, like you, that we can travel again in the not too distant future.
Hugs and best wishes and thank you for the compliment to my daugther :-),
