Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello, Happy Saturday!
1. Below top are the Pine Siskin and bottom are the Northern Cardinal with 2 Pine Siskins.
2. The Pine Siskin is close to 5 inches in size. It has a thin bill and a yellow streak on it's wings.
3. A closer look at the Purple Finch, it has a forked tail. It's head and back are a rich rose red or raspberry color.
4. Top is the Carolina Wren, below is a Downy Woodpecker and a White-breasted Nuthatch and a Red-breasted Nuthatch.
5. A male Purple Finch
6. A female Red-breasted Nuthatch, the head was moving causing a blurry look.
I hope you enjoyed these birds, I am always happy to watch my feeders and yard birds.

Hi Eileen,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful series of photos.
It's great that you get all this in your garden, the red cardinal is only found here in the zoo, the other species we have here in the Netherlands in the wild.
Would you like to post my link, I can't.
Have a nice weekend and stay healthy.

Great photos today Eileen. The Pine Siskins are how do say "neat". Their plumage is just perfect for hiding from predators. Not so for the male Purple Finches. They must have another trick in the book. Thanks for the link today 😊.

Pine Siskin is a very cute bird. To bad we don´t have it. :) The Purple Finch is also gorgeous with it´s special coloring. We don´t have that one either :( And your little wren is so sweet. That is one good thing with birding. You always find beautiful creatures around you. I only wish life would be a bit more easy for them.

I enjoyed all your bird photos today especially the pine siskin. Now I'll have an even better idea what to look for should I think I spot one out at my feeder. The purple finch as well, though I've not seen as many of my finches this winter. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hello Eileen, I love all your birds and learning their names. I thought the other day that growing up in Sweden, I could identify all birds, or at least, most of them, by name. Here, it hasn't been as easy. So it's fun to visit you and other blogs with birds and learn a little.
ReplyDeleteThank you Inger!
DeleteI am sure you see some great birds there.

I loved seeing these. Right now about all I can get is startlings. I will swear that I am not even going to try again, but always end up buying a couple bags of feed and every time the startlings get almost all of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose!
DeleteI am glad I do not see the Starlings here, maybe once in awhile.

Lovely to see your Carolina Wren - isn't it interesting how different all the wren birds in the world are? The British & Aussie ones different yet again. Have a lovely week Eileen
ReplyDeleteWren x
Thank you Wren!
DeleteThey are cute birds.
Take care, enjoy your day!
The birds are wonderful -- you have such a great variety. I am sure that is partly because of the variety of feeders and seeds you are using; I enjoy seeing those feeders also. (Of course another reason is that I'm sure the birds know that your yard is a safe and wonderful place to stop for a bite to eat!!)
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, beautiful little birds. I like the Caroline wren. Thank you for visiting my blog. Greetings Caroline
ReplyDeleteThank you Caroline!
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day!
You know I always grin from ear to ear when I see your Wrens!

Wonderful bird photo's! You got a good mix. The Bridge gives me the willies. Not sure I would be able to cross it. In fact pretty sure I probably couldn't.
