Saturday's Critters # 371

 Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello, Happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I am sharing more of my recent yard birds, from Jan 11 and 12th.  I had a few Pine Siskins and a male Purple Finch. These two species have been randomly visiting within the last couple of months.  These are just some my winter birds. I also see maybe 3 of the Red-breasted Nuthatches and lots of Dark-eyed Juncos and White-throated Sparrows.

 1. Below top are the Pine Siskin and bottom are the Northern Cardinal with 2 Pine Siskins.

2.  The Pine Siskin is close to 5 inches in size. It has a thin bill and a yellow streak on it's wings.

3. A closer look at the Purple Finch, it has a forked tail. It's head and back are a rich rose red or raspberry color.

 4. Top is the Carolina Wren, below is a Downy Woodpecker and a White-breasted Nuthatch and a Red-breasted Nuthatch.

5. A male Purple Finch

6.  A female Red-breasted Nuthatch, the head was moving causing a blurry look.

I hope you enjoyed these birds, I am always happy to watch my feeders and yard  birds.

Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

I enjoy seeing the birds visiting the bird feeders. You have captured some nice close up of the birds. Over here the birds are just too fast for me or too far away. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Eileen,
This is a wonderful series of photos.
It's great that you get all this in your garden, the red cardinal is only found here in the zoo, the other species we have here in the Netherlands in the wild.
Would you like to post my link, I can't.
Have a nice weekend and stay healthy.

Looks as if the explosion of northern visitors is continuing. A female Purple Finch got down into Florida this week, not nearly close enough for us at the southern end of the peninsula. Thanks for sharing those nice feeder shots!

Lots of visitors to your feeders, how nice that you can watch and photograph them. I love the Northern Cardinal, it really stands out. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend and stay safe. Thanks for hosting.

Hello Eileen, You have so many lovely bird visitors to your well stocked feeders. Love the sweet Carolina Wren, the Pine Siskin ( which I have never seen before) and the brightly coloured Purple Finch and Cardinal. I'm glad you posted the Nuthatch, one of my favourites. I'll try to link up later.

A lovely collection of birds, Eileen, I guess they must be grateful for the food in your yard during the Winter!
The cardinal is quite impressive!

Great photos today Eileen. The Pine Siskins are how do say "neat". Their plumage is just perfect for hiding from predators. Not so for the male Purple Finches. They must have another trick in the book. Thanks for the link today 😊.

Pine Siskin is a very cute bird. To bad we don´t have it. :) The Purple Finch is also gorgeous with it´s special coloring. We don´t have that one either :( And your little wren is so sweet. That is one good thing with birding. You always find beautiful creatures around you. I only wish life would be a bit more easy for them.
Take care! And enjoy the coming week.

I enjoyed all your bird photos today especially the pine siskin. Now I'll have an even better idea what to look for should I think I spot one out at my feeder. The purple finch as well, though I've not seen as many of my finches this winter. Hope you are having a great weekend!

We finally have birds coming to the feeder we bought. They needed to find it and figure out that we had hung it. It's fun to watch them. You got some great photos of the beauties that have come to your feeder. Happy weekend to you.

Hello Eileen, I love all your birds and learning their names. I thought the other day that growing up in Sweden, I could identify all birds, or at least, most of them, by name. Here, it hasn't been as easy. So it's fun to visit you and other blogs with birds and learn a little.

The birds are wonderful -- you have such a great variety. I am sure that is partly because of the variety of feeders and seeds you are using; I enjoy seeing those feeders also. (Of course another reason is that I'm sure the birds know that your yard is a safe and wonderful place to stop for a bite to eat!!)
