Saturday's Critters # 386

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms!!   😊

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I am seeing and hearing about the spring birds and migrants moving around I try to get out to do some birding at our local parks and my favorite parks.  On this day, hubby and I took a loop walk around Hashawha Nature Center. These are some photos from our walk.

1. Below are the Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Chipping Sparrows, Northern Cardinal and a Song Sparrow.

2. At the raptor center, they have a male and female Barred Owl, Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawks and a Great Horned Owl.

3. As the day warmed up, we saw lots of turtles. They could be the Eastern Painted Turtle. The Red-eared Sliders are being seen in Maryland after people have released unwanted pets into the wild.

4. Various scenes from our walk, the pond and Hashawha Lake.

5. Hellebore, Bluebells, some unknown wildflowers and the Bloodroot.

6.  The male Eastern Bluebird, I wish the twig was not in front of his face.  They are a common bird seen at the park, there are a lot of bird houses set up for the bluebirds to use.

7. These Painted Turtles were seen sunning along the lake shore.

I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding   Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

  15. Are the birds at the raptor centre injured birds that are unable to be released back into the wild and are now used for breeding purposes where possible? It certainly provides a great opportunity to study plumage at close quarters.

  17. Such a great place for you to visit. I don´t know of any such place as Hashawha Nature Center in Sweden.
We have, of course, some places with birding towers and a few larger ones with Visitor centers. But none that I know of has caged birds. They use to invite visitors to see when they are ringing the birds. That is a nice thing to visit.
Glad you had a nice day.

The bluebird photo is gorgeous and yes, I have the same problem with some of my better photos...twigs in the way but that is nature too. I have also photographed our painted turtles in our little pond. They only appear when it is sunny and since we seem to have turned cool and rainy, I haven't seen them this past week at all. What a treat for you to spy so many!

  34. Hi Eileen. As usual I have mixed feeling about seeing those birds in cages but as long as the centre is using them for the correct motives then it is OK. Great captures again of the birds and it is good to know your spring birds are arriving, even though all over the world, people seem to be finding it a very cold spring, depite "global warming". LOL. Those turtles are just amazing to see as we have nothing like that here, just terrapins released into the wild by people who tire of looking after them.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and many thanks for thee opportunity to join in today.

The raptors are well cared for even though they each have some kind of injury. They would not survive in the wild.

And then sometimes I think I have made a comment and get a little confused. Anyhow, I thoroughly enjoyed your latest critters post and other nature photos. I focused particularly on your bluebirds. I saw them for the first time this year today. I don't think mine came out as clear as yours but so glad to have the memory of them even if the my photos come out a bit fuzzy. I am a bit envious of the turtles. I want to go somewhere where I can see them lined up like that but it has stayed so cool I have not even tried to find any. But it is supposed to start warming up so maybe I will get to go.
