Saturday's Critters # 409

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

Hello and happy Saturday!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

I am sharing more recent yard birds and birds seen on our local fire road walks to the lake. I was seeing migrant warblers in my yard for most of September. They love the Devil's Walking Stick berries. Photos were taken from my windows, it is nice to see these birds without having to travel somewhere.

I may be away from my computer but I will be visiting everyone who has linked up a post and those who leave me a comment as soon as possible.  Thank you always for participating and loving all the critters.

1. Below male and female Cape May Warblers, guessing the bottom row is a Tennessee Warbler and far right is a male Black-throated Blue Warbler.

2. I know these photos and birds all look familiar, but they are new photos I have not posted previously. I have been seeing the Cape May Warblers at these berries every day for weeks. Some times there are 4-5 Cape May Warblers chowing down berries.

3. The photos below are from one of our morning walks to the lake, we saw 2-3 Great Blue Herons, Double-crested Cormorant, Green Heron and the Belted Kingfisher can be found in the same spot almost daily.

3-A   I was able to catch the Belted Kingfisher with the Green Heron hanging out on the same tree. The Green Heron is a little hidden, can you find it below?

4. A little further drive away is one of my favorite county parks, we do a loop hike around the park. We saw a large flock of Blackbirds, maybe Grackles, a group of Cedar Waxwings were also flying across the park. A Gray Catbird, Finches, Downy Woodpecker and a visit to the park's raptor center.

5. Back in my yard, the male and female Black-throated Blue Warblers were being seen eating the berries.  During the month of September I could not pass my windows without looking out and seeing Warblers eating these berries.

5-A.  The Black-throated Blue Warbler , it is 4-5 inches in length. The male is blue above with white underneath and has a black throat, face and sides. The female is a brown-olive color and has the white spot on it's wing, my photo of the female is on the top left above.

6.   Living so close to the reservoir, their are days we take a ride around the lake to see the dam. On this day there was a small group of Canada Geese and a group of Double-crested Cormorants.

7. A group of Double-crested Cormorants seen swimming in the reservoir near the dam bridge.

8. A view of our lake during one of our early morning walks, we saw the steam fog rising over the lake.

An added extra, our grandson Wyatt not a critter but very cute.

I am also linking up to Anni's blog party found here I'd Rather B Birding   Anni always has some beautiful birds to be seen on her blog, check it out!

Here is my linky:

I appreciate you taking the time to link and share your critters!

Thanks to all my visitors and for your comments. Stop back to see any replies to your comments. I appreciate everyone who loves critters and has linked up their critter post.

Excellent sightings again! I like the Cape May Warbler, the Heron with fish, the kingfisher and the sky shots. The mushroom shot is cute and that pic of Wyatt with sunflower is just awesome.

Hello Eileen, The Warblers, so many different ones, really love those berries, and the Black-throated Blue Warbler is a beauty, a new visitor perhaps! Very beautiful lake scenes, with a great variety of birds. How lucky you are to live so close to the lake and be able to see so much wild life. Eileen, I can't seem to link up today, would you be so kind as to do it for me.

Hi Eileen, Thank you for sharing your recent yard birds and birds seen on your walks to the lake. I really, really like your collages. You inspire me to do more of that on my blog. In today’s Saturday’s Critters my favorite collage is #5 of 11. In that collage I like the way you set the scene for us with the photo in the upper left corner. Adding the sky photos is cool, and, of course, I love your moon photos. Going back to photo #2 of 11 … I can’t believe how many berries are on that bush. Those Cape May Warblers must be loving it! Neat photos of the Great Blue Herons, Green Heron, and Belted Kingfisher. Photo #10 of 11 is an amazing shot. Wow! And #11 of 11 … how sweet, and yes, Wyatt is cute! I noticed your message that you might be away from your computer, which may mean you are traveling, and if so, hope you have a great trip and enjoy. Thanks, as always, for sharing and hosting Saturday’s Critters and for your recent comments on my blog. Wishing you and yours a happy week ahead. John

So beautiful capture of the birds and nature surrounds you. The morning shots from the reservoir are splendid and refreshing to see the smoking (foggy) lake. Your grandson is cute, and I like the way he touches to feel the petals :)

Great that you have warblers. They are fascinating to watch.

I think Wyatt takes the prize here as the cutest of the lot! I have a photo of what I think is a warbler...very small and very yellow. Flitty kind of bird that I found hard to photograph. I have been busy on my property making brush patches/houses for the small critters. I love in the winter to see tracks around the ones I've "built" before.

Lea said...

What a handsome boy your grandson is!
Enjoyed all the bird photos, and the fog on the lake is beautiful!
