Welcome to Saturday's Critters!
Hello and happy Saturday!
If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!
I have been feeding my yard birds some peanuts in and out of the shells. The peanuts attract some of my favorite yard birds, I see the Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadees, Cardinals, I am still seeing the winter birds like the White-throated Sparrows and the Dark-eyed Juncos.
1. April 5th, the Blue Jays love the peanuts, they sit in the trees and just squawk letting me know they are hungry.
2. The Blue Jays seen waiting for the peanuts to be put on the deck railing.
3. A Tufted Titmouse can be quick at grabbing a peanut and flying off.
4. A mosaic of Blue Jays, Tufted Titmouse and a Eastern Phoebe almost hidden behind the branches.
5. April 6th, Nibbles and Winnie take a walk on the fire road.
6. A Double-crested Cormorant is seen at the lake.
7. April 7th, the dogs warned me by barking when they heard a banging on the window, I looked out and saw an American Robin sitting in the rhododendron outside out window. A Cardinal looked on watching the Robin banging against the window.
8. A larger sized photo of the American Robin, crazy bird survived the window.
9. The Male Cardinal sitting on the gutter watching the Robin, saying I've been there, done that.
Thank you for sharing your critters and post!

DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
Good morning Eileen, I have enjoyed every one of your bird photos. I love the Eastern Phoebe. So petite. You certainly are well known by the wild birds in your garden! Your American Robin is not at all similar to our Robin-Chat in South Africa. More like a thrush. So interesting to read all about the antics of the Cardinal banging against your window. Thank you for sharing. I am linking to your post (no birds but I have cows grazing and a very happy dog!) Thank you for always visiting my blog, Have a wonderful weekend. Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo! Our Robin is in the family of Thrushes. It is crazy they attack their reflection in the window, they must think it is a rival. Take care, have a happy weekend!
DeleteLooks like the peanut is too big for the little Blue Jay. Very entertaining to watch the birds. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy! The Jay has a big mouth, lol.

Hello Eileen,

Take care, and have a happy weekend!
Thank you Marit! The Jays are pretty.

There is still ample feed for the birds down here now, but I am going to save all the sunflower seeds for their winter snacks. The Blu Jays , beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean! It is good that the birds have natural foods for them to eat.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
Thank you Dear.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cloudia!

Good morning Eileen. We have a crazy Dunnock that bangs itself against the glass of the car door side mirror. These birds are seeing off their love rivals at this time of year LOL. Those peanuts are very popular aren't they? I bet you have to ration them out because the Jays would just eat the lot if you let them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, and thanks for the link up today. Enjoy your walks with Nibbles and Winnie.
Thank you Phil! Yes, the birds are chasing away their rivals.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!

Dearest Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI just fell in love with the Tufted Titmouse's adorable facial expression :-D <3 The Blue Jay with his nut looks very cute too!
I'm not sure if I understood you correctly: The American Robin banged his head against the glass, the Cardinal said "It wasn't me" and the Granddogs alerted you? But nothing happened, everyone safe and sound!?!
Please pet Nibbles and Winnie for me!
All the best and happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteThe first shot with the Jay and it's nut is the winner for me today - the look in its eye is at once triumphant and disbelieving of its own luck! YAM xx
T=Thistle
Thank you Yam! The Blue Jays were happy with the peanuts.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
That's a huge peanut for the bird. Your window must be very CLEAN or the American Robin wouldn't have banged on it :-))
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie! Our windows seem to always need a cleaning.

...the bluejay is quite a treat, the ones that came to our feeder seem to have gone to parts unknown. Thanks Eileen for hosting, enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom! The Jays seem to hang out here, they know they will get some peanuts to eat.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteThank you Jenn! Take care, have a happy weekend!
DeleteThe blue jays along the boardwalk watch every move made by walkers as they wait for peanuts too. Love those birds. The cardinal is such a rare one here. And the pup photos are always a favourite, Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie! The Blue Jays do enjoy their peanuts and I enjoy watching all the birds.
DeleteHave a great weekend.
I don't know why but it always cracks me up to see a bird with a big piece of seed or a nut in its mouth! Great shot. And I love that tufted titmouse!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie! The Blue Jays do have big mouths, the Titmouse is a cutie.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
The titmouse is looking at the work of art in his world! Love seeing these birds, they are ready for Spring too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! I am ready for Spring and more birdwatching.
DeleteHave a great weekend!
I love the Blue Jays and Tufted Titmouse, they are beautiful Eileen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob!
DeleteHave a happy weekend!
I wanted to put a birdbath under the windows with the ferns but they hit the window sometimes trying to fly into the sky they see, so that was a no.. the woodpecker has been banging away on the palm out back this week. sounds like a machine gun. mixes well with the roofers putting on a roof nextg door. I have seen the jays dive bomb the squirrels at bray park, making them run so they can steal the peanuts we throw to the squirrels
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra! The woodpeckers are loud while drilling their holes.
DeleteHave a great day!
While out for a walk yesterday along the Humber River all I could hear was Blue Jays all around me. There must have been a dozen of them in the area.
ReplyDeleteThank you RedPat! The jays are very loud!
DeleteHave a great day and happy weekend!
Beautiful photos, Eileen. I especially like the blue jays!

Great variety of critters. Love the catch with the peanut in its beak! Happy Saturday to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen!
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
My parents had a cottage. The second floor study included a small platform outside the window where they'd spread peanuts in winter. The jays would come and get them.
ReplyDeleteThank you William! Nice memory!
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
Good morning Eileen, we may have some signs of spring soon here since we're possibly going to hit almost high 70's today?! But they promised storms too, of course. Your world is opening up to spring and your Blue Jays huge fans of peanuts they are bold and pushy. I've had to put a stop to feeding the birds and squirrels as our state has ordered with a strong rise in bird flu around here. Enjoy your weekend and thank you for sharing such lovely critter photos to brighten our day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! we are at 70° now too. Mostly cloudy! We had the warning last year to stop feeding the birds, the flu is making the rounds.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
Favorite, of course, is that gorgeous cardinal hiding ~ bluejay with seed in mouth ~ awesome and love the little tufted titmouse ~ and other birds too ~ Your grand doggies behave so well ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you love and laughter in your day,

Thank you Luisella!
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
Beautiful capture of the birds in your yard; yes, I've seen photos of blue jays picking up whole peanuts with their cute little beaks on your and other blogs from the US many times. I hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeevan! The Jays do love the peanuts.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
We are having about the same birds as you at our Connecticut feeders. Now a few warblers are returning. Those jays are certainly conditioned to wait for peanut treats.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken! I have been hearing a few warblers in my area too.
DeleteTake care, have a happy weekend!
I just had a blue jay visit and they have a very distinctive call don’t they? I couldn’t help but notice that butterfly hanger with the equally pretty tufted titmouse. Is that to catch water? Always fun to see Nibbles and Winnie. They must love their walks in that area. It is so very interesting how the cormorant’s body sinks into the water. Good catch on getting the robin and cardinal in the same photo. I’m glad the robin survived the window. I was looking outside and watched three mourning doves hit our window at the same time, like it was choreographed! None the worse for wear as they flew up into the trees immediately. Thanks for another lovely post and enjoy your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThank You Denise! The Cormorants are good swimmers, they dive and disappear. I am glad your Doves were ok after hitting the window. The hanging butterflies is my solar wind chime. Thanks for the comment and visit. Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteThat Blue Jay is soo cute with his pnut...So you ever watch Leslie the Bird Nerd on Youtube, she has jays take nuts right out of her hand, and one does not like if the pnut has a little stem or root on it, he breaks that off rifght away...they are so very smart. Hope your weekend is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra! I have seen the Jays put down a peanut and pick up another, it seemed like it was weighing the nuts.
DeleteI will check out Youtube. Take care, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.
Cardinals are famous for attacking windows. And they don’t give up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda! They are silly birds!

Thanks so much for sharing all with us this week & linking up.l
Thank you Anni! The birds are always a joy to see, my simple pleasure.
DeleteTake care, enjoy your day and happy new week!
It's funny the birds sit there waiting for you to put out the peanuts, lol. My Dad used to have a squirrel he did that with every night about 6 pm and if Dad was a bit late the squirrel would make a racket to remind him. lol Animals are fun to watch. One of the birds I see the most in my yard (that I'd like to get rid of) is the large black loud crows. They're very plentiful here and make lots of noise. Saw a Cardinal Couple this morning in the front yard. Stood and watched out the window for awhile before they flew off.
