1. Sept 10th, a Downy Woodpecker comes to our deck for a peanut.
Sorry some of these birds and images look familiar but they are taken later in the month of September.
2. Sept 10th, can you find 2 Cape May Warblers in the photo below, at one is somewhat hidden.
3. Sept 10th, below are the female and male Cape May Warblers, they been in our yard and eating these berries for a few days.
4. Sept 12th, the Northern Cardinals love the berries too.
5. Sept 13th, the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are getting ready for their trip south.
6. Sept 13th, hubby and I walked almost 3 miles on the NCR bike trail in Parkton. We had a great sighting of the Belted Kingfisher and there were some Red-eyed Vireos and other unknown warblers.
7. Sept 13th, a larger look at the Belted Kingfisher.
8. Sept 14th , hubby and I took our morning walk to the lake. We heard more birds than I was able to see and photograph. On the lake we saw one Double-crested Cormorant and the usual Belted Kingfisher.
10. Sept 18th, other birds like these berries too I have seen the Mockingbird and the Downy Woodpecker eating the berries too.

I watched kingfishers along the boardwalk this summer. Amazing creatures. I love the warblers you featured. I haven’t seen many warblers in my birding to date. I find it hard to photograph birds in the trees. They dart around so much. You did a great job!

DeleteGood morning Eileen it's great to be off this weekend and enjoy what has to be probably the best weekend around here for fall colors, and feeling the warmth of 68 degrees. We had frost last night though, so it's going to be a day of wilted things about too, but hey it's that time of year. Repeat birds, doesn't matter, they are a gift always happy to see over and over. Enjoy your weekend too. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, for the link and the comment. I hope you enjoy your weekend off. Take care, have a great weekend.
DeleteI like your kingfisher pictures. It always excites me, when I see one. We saw a bird, when we were at Kinzua Bridge State Park earlier in the week. It reminded Bob and myself of a cross between a robin and a cardinal. It had the underbelly like a robin and a crest like a cardinal. I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! The Titmouse has a crest and a little bit of a rust colored belly. Have a happy weekend.
DeleteGood evening, Eileen! Yes, I`m again on the "great PC" ... the only way to write comments.
ReplyDeleteWow, what wonderful captures here. I love the birds around your nature. Especially the Northern Cardinals and of course the woodpecker.

DeleteAs always, a fun post with great photos of what you're seeing in your corner of the world. I've never seen a warbler, but did see that on the "Blue Ridge Wildlife Center" facebook page they just released a Hooded Warbler that made a quick recovery after a window strike and is hopefully back on its migration journey.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing well - Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thank you Kim! I am happy that the Hooded Warbler made a recovery! Take care, enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead.

DeleteWHat a great walk you had! I am so bad at spotting birds. Kingfishers are seen in Britain too but I just don't spot them, I've never seen one in the wild, and I have certainly walked along enough rivers! still, I do enjoy other things which maybe stay a little more still than birds do :) To get back to Kingfishers, their shape appeals to me, I like that big head and the tiny little body. I guess those are the body proportions of infants, so would tend to look cute! I hope you can enjoy more rambles before the winter closes in.
ReplyDeleteHello Jenny,
DeleteThe Kingfisher is a cute bird, I am always happy to find one sitting still for a photo. Take care, have a great weekend!
