CC..Some of my yardbirds

On the weekends I am up early filling my bird feeders and always hoping to see a new yard bird. This morning I was looking out and saw my first of the year Juncos. The Dark Eyed Juncos are my winter birds along with the White Throated Sparrows. So this morning my yardbirds were the Juncos, WT SParrows, Titmouse, Bluejays, Cardinals, White Breasted Nuthatch, Red Breasted Nuthatch, Crows, Carolina Chickadees and across my driveway in the woods are a group of Turkey Vultures.

  1. Nice shots! I especially love your jay. We don't get them very often at our house.

  3. You have some great shots of your feeder! We get all of those down here, except I don't believe our finch is a gold finch, but I'm not sure what kind it is. You squirrel looks like ours though. That is the most popular on my feeders. We don't get our acorns until later in the year.

  4. Squirrels sure do try to pose as yard birds, don't they? My sister-in-law spent years trying to keep them from her bird feeders, but I think they're cute.
Your birds are beautiful today, Eileen. Thanks for sharing them with us!

  5. Great photos Eileen. I'm off to stock up on my birdseed this morning. Can't keep my babies out of food for long. Of course, they never go hungry. As I look across the yards I see many bird feeders up and full so I don't feel so bad :)

  10. We love filling our feeders on weekends too. And guess what! Here in Ontario we also saw our first dark-eyed juncos of the season. I'm hoping it's going to be a great year for winter birds.

  17. I get the juncos, crows, and red-breasted nuthatches, but any of those other species would sure be a thrill at my feeders out here in the west! ;)

  20. Great pictures of your backyard birds, Eileen... I still have alot at my feeders ---and they all seem busy, getting ready for winter...

Our Bluejays are gone for now... Don't know where they go in winter--but they always leave and then come back in Spring.....?????

Your little female Cardinal looks just like mine!!!!! Maybe they are cousins... ha ha
