First, I want to wish all my blogger friends and families a very Merry Christmas.
These are some of the late evening Vulture skies around my yard and during our walk at a local park called Soldier's Delight. I have not had much luck birding or seeing any new birds lately. I do see the vultures every evening heading back into the woods next to my house.

Soldier's Delight is a great place for hiking around the Serpentine grassland, it is compromised of 1900 acres of Serpentine barren. And the Virginia Pines has been an attraction for the White-Winged Crossbills. Was I successful at finding the White-winged Crossbills? The answer is no, so my search continues.

Back at home more of the vultures flying back into the woods for the night.

Your evening skies are beautiful Eileen. While vultures may have faces that only their mother could love they are lovely as they soar. I really like the view from your front yard.

Nice skies! And a great close-up of that Vulture. They are strange and eerie birds, but harmless. They're beautiful to watch sailing and dipping on the air currents.
Oh interesting, you must have vultures year round! Ours leave for the winter but I am not sure exactly where they go... Beautiful shots!

The meadow is neat -- you have so many wonderful choices for birding! Great vulture pictures, both the portrait and the flight shots. And that crossbill? You have to have something to hope for ...you never want to have met all your goals ;>)

Great pictures--of the sky and of the vulture... I've probably told you this before but we always see Turkey Vultures when we go to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas in Feb...

Vultures always strike me as a bit mad and bad - but they actually look quite normal!!! That's something I won't find downunder!!!
