I am linking up with Skywatch Friday and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.
For this week's Good Fence and Skywatch Friday memes I am sharing our day trip seeing the Owls on the previous post and our walk along the C&O near Point of Rocks, Frederick Maryland. The C&O Canal trail runs about 185 miles along the Potomac River from Washington DC to Cumberland Maryland. Hubby and I have done various sections of this trail, I enjoy seeing the river scenery, wildflowers and of course the birds..
The C&O Canal trail is an easy walking trail or if you prefer running, jogging or biking. Or like me just for birding.
On this day the Louisiana Waterthrushes were seen and heard all along the C&O trail. As you can see it was a pretty day with a beautiful blue sky.
Along the C&O trail there is an old house were you can make a reservation to spend the night. This is if you are hiking the trail and backpacking and need a place to sleep and rest from your hiking 185 miles. While walking we must have seen 4 or 5 trains pass us some were the CSX freight trains and one was an Amtrak.
BTW, I hope you noticed all the fences in the mosaic above near the house and bridge over the canal.
Hubby and I had to treat ourselves to some ice cream after our walk. Before and after eating our ice cream I took some scenic fence shots around and at the Rocky Point Creamery. The baby cow was tiny and adorable. I have never been up close to a baby cow house, it looks like a big dog house. Fences galore in the mosaic above, they keep the horses and cows safe.
A pretty sky shot. If I had a farm house I would definitely want a weathervane, they are so cool. I like this cow weathervane we saw while buying ice cream at the Creamery.
A pretty view of the sky and if you look closely a herd of deer running up the hill, thankfully they switched directions or they would have been running in front of our car.
Our walk was on April 18th and this moon shot above was taken on April 11th. I hope you enjoyed my post and photos. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments.

Was enjoying the sky and would have missed the deer. Thanks for pointing them out. Love the knoll reaching for the sky.
These are great photos Eileen. We have walked the C&O Canal from Georgetown. Looks like you saw another pretty part of it. I like the collages and the adorable calf. Great scenery, lovely flowers and your moon shot was splendid. Have a great day!
Such wonderful sights along the trail. Thanks Tom The Backroads Traveller
What wonderful sets of photos, Eileen! I've only walked along the C and O canal at Harper's Ferry, and the one at Cumberland, or is that a different canal there?
Oh what wonderful shots you captured. Love the pasture scenes, the fence and the baby cow is so sweet. I have never seen a cow house and how cute is that.
Love the bird shot with the pretty sky background. Your collages are fabulous once again.
Have a great day.
Hugs, CM
i enjoy the cow weather wane & the birdie framed by the leaves. what a cutie. love love that shot tons!! ( :
Pretty trail with nice fences. Great sighting of the Louisiana Waterthrush. I think I must miss thrushes thinking they are just ordinary sparrows. Hmmm. I still have a LOT to learn.
Dearest Eileen; I just LOVED seeing your collages form C & O Canal Trail, gorgeous nature and I wish I could join the ice cream with you :-) And also liked you said 'just for birding'; I'm not a sports type so that would definitely the motive, haha. I've never seen the weathervane before, lovely one you showed here♡♡♡
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

Such a pretty trail! Great shots too.
The collages are pretty.
What a lovely walking trail..I wish we had a designated nature trail around here. The calf house is a new one on me..I have never seen a designated home for a baby cow! Love your moon shot- they are always awesome. Have a wonderful day!
What a fun trip in a really delightful place! And lots of spring beauty to behold.
Lovely shots of the sights along the trail. I really like the photo of the Louisiana Waterthrush. Love the shots of the animals at the dairy farm too!
What a great place for a walk, and some birding as well.
You covered all the bases very well. I liked them all, but the weather-vane caught my eye.

I've never seen a baby cow house before! Is it for calving, or just for the little one to rest in away from the elements? The setup reminds me of a dog kennel. Very interesting! Loved all your beautiful shots. What a wonderful place to visit! (And I bet the ice cream was good!)
Fabuloust place to take a hike. That old house looks pretty cool and I think it's neat you can stay in it. Looks like spring is lovely there with the blooming trees and the green pastures. That baby cow was cute and I enjoyed all the nice fences and animals. Also how cool to see the herd of deer.
nice ones. esp bird with leaf umbrella

Hi Eileen, skies and wonderful trails! Are these places that appreciate for sightseeing! There's a wide variety of choices. I love all the pictures! But the Moon, love the Moon! Hugs and good weekend.
A great place for a walk. The kind of trail we'd enjoy. Birds for me and lots of other stuff to see too. I've never heard of those waterthrushes before, what an interesting bird. Always something new to learn.
Beautiful rural scenes! I like the little Louisiana Waterthrush
Eileen, This canal recreation path is so scenic. I have never been there, though we lived in MD on the Chesapeake Bay for several years before moving west. MD is such a pretty state. What a great moon shot!
Exceptional photos Eileen. I love the little bird in the left corner of the first photo. and the fences, little cow, weather vane, oh heck . . . loved them all . . .
Terrific captures of beautiful places, Eileen, as always!! I love them!! Thanks so much for sharing the fun and the beauty!!
Yes, it was a beautiful day! And you captured the essence of it. Isn't it great to have a partner who enjoys walking/hiking?
Your photos are beautiful and peaceful.
I like the cow weather vane, too.

Eileen, you take the most amazing nature pics - WOW!!!
Hey, you may find it interesting that my big brother (years ago) as a college graduation present for himself walked the entire length of the Appalachian Trail - all the way from Maine to George! Over 2000 miles!
It took him 6 months and he came back so skinny and so hairy we hardly recognized him! Also, my firstborn was born on this brother's birthday, in August - and he wasn't even able to meet her until she was over 4 months old. Neat about his big walk, huh? Me? I can barely make it to the mailbox and back, haha.
Such scenic views along the canal trail. I did not know a baby cow house even existed. It is like a giant dog house.
Just like taking the hike with you!
Feels like spring...
Have a great weekend!

Oh, and your moon is superb!

Wonderful series !
I have yet to visit the C&O Canal. It would be great to go bird watching there.
What a wonderful walk! I like those Thrush. I've never heard of a cow house either!
I used to hike along parts of that trail when I was a kid (e.g. Great Falls) but that was a long time ago.
I've never heard the name "Louisiana Waterthrush" until now.
MOO!
~
Lovely photos of your walk. I've walked along parts of that trail too.
Hi Eileen,
What a pretty pasture of those adorable cows, dotting the green meadows with their black and white patches. So much to see along this lovely, picturesque trail, the birds, the flowers, the rolling hills...I'm sure you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing it all with us.
Wishing you a very happy weekend!
Poppy
What beautiful scenery. It makes me want to take a walk in the countryside.
That looks like a great hike - I wish I'd known about it when I lived in the DC area.
Beautiful shots! My favorite is the waterthrush.
I didn't know baby cows had houses! That is so cute. Wonderful post. I always enjoy the birds!
Stunning photos, Eileen.
Beautiful photos! Love the little Waterthrush!
Hi Eileen,
Beautiful photos of a famous trail. I have heard of the C&O Canal Path trail through the Adventure Cycling Association - supposed to be great for bicycle touring. I keep thinking I will do it one day - hopefully, soon enough.
I am so happy for you that you got to go on this wonderful trail!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)
Great photos, what an incredible place to roam about. That house just in case for weary hikers is so very important! I remember once starting out on a hike and we got carried away, and naturally we had to turn around and trek the same out of miles back and it was after midnight by the time we returned. In was late spring, and the night was cold too! If only there was a place like that!
Love all the photos! That weather vane, I absolutely adore. Great bird and new blooms shots!
I always enjoy seeing your photos of your outings, looks like you have so much to do there :-)
Great collages indeed!
Your shots this time symbolize softness, glamor, romance and mystery. Sky pictures are the outcome of great visual acumen. Thanks!
nice shots!
wish you a happy happy weekend :-)
It looks like spring is making it to the East, lovely blue skies and I like the pink tree. The calf and cow weathervane are cute. Ice cream sounds like a great idea there. The mosaics really show off the scenery;
Great photo reportage here. You have really a talent for nature shots.
Beautiful photos - awesome countryside!
Hi Eileen,
marvelous photos of a wonderful and sunny day. Amazing !
Best regards, Synnöve
That's quite a collection of beautiful photos. That trail must hold such fascinating surprises. Have a happy day.
What a lovely trail! The accommodations look very rustic, but I guess when you're tired enough, you can sleep anywhere.
Wonderful series, Eileen, this is spring at it's best.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend!
Adorable calf!! Never seen a cow house either!! HOpe that the Mom isn't far off!! Great Moon shot!
Hello Eileen!
Such beautiful images. I enjoy scrolling through and seeing what you captured through the eye of your camera lens!
Have a wonderful weekend.
What a nice place for a walk. Lovely shots.

Beautiful pictures and collages !
Pretty images Eileen, lot and lots of fine weather there.
There must be some varied and exciting birding along those 185 miles Eileen. I'd be more than happy to see and hear so many Louisiana Waterthrushes like your photograph of that one.
The weather vane is indeed a cool looking object. So different from the usual ones.
I hope you have a lovely weekend. I'll link up tomorrow. Cheers.
Boa tarde, maravilhosas fotos captadas na sua inegável boa viagem, todas as fotos são magicas.
I love those pictures full of light and color, beautiful birds!
Wonderful series, Eileen.
My first time to see a cow weather vane :)
What a gorgeous series of photos! Love the flowers, birds and especially the moon! Thanks for stopping by.
Lovely trail photos, and my sort of place to walk.
Your photos never fail to amaze me. They are all great photos!
Once again....a stunning...AND fun post. Your subjects today are quite interesting and unique.
Love your half moon shot. So crisp and clear!
Beautiful pictures !
All of them.
Wonderful photo tour, Eileen. I like the canal towpath because it's fairly flat and makes for a pleasant stroll.
You have so many lovely images on this post, I don't know where to start. I'm fascinated by the calf house - I've never seen anything like that here. Our calves would feel really spoilt if we provided such a thing for them. Love the moon shot!
I don´t mind easy walks at all. Gives you time to check all the things out. Fine shots to remember by. :)
I really enjoyed that stroll along the trail. Lucky you seeing the Louisiana Waterthrushes. I only had Northern this spring in Illinois, and few at that. The flowers, landscapes and sky shots are splendid!
Nice series of shots. Funny you mentioned weathervane...I live in a little town but have been thinking I would like one. LOL
Looks like a wonderful place to take a walk Eileen. I am sure you enjoy it every time.
I always enjoy when I see these beautiful pictures. You always shows beautiful pictures and beautiful as different. My compliments Eileen :-)
Hi Eileen, thanks for stopping by at the Max Files. Looks like you had a lot of fun leading up to Skywatch with nice blue skies. Been enjoying your bird pics too.
