Ocean City, Maryland

I am linking up with Skywatch Friday  and Good Fences
I hope you can join in on the fun and share your fence scenes and pretty skies.

For this week's Good Fence and Skywatch Friday memes I am sharing some more photos from our Anniversary getaway in early May. A last minute decision we continued our getaway to Ocean City Maryland after we left Chincoteague Island Virginia. That is what is great about being retired we can make last minute trips and getaways. Early May the beaches were fairly empty and we had a choice of hotels to spend the night.

This is the sunrise before leaving Chincoteague Island NWR.

Early morning light with a flock of maybe Dunlin.  I had to do some more birding at Chincoteague Island NWR before we left.

I know this is stretching the fence scene, but if you look closely you can see the wire fence ( just above the Oystercatcher's eye)  at the dune nesting area for the Oystercatchers and the Piping Plovers.

With my great zoom I spotted a cute Piping Plover seen beyond the fence area at Chincoteague Island NWR

We left Chincoteague Island and went to the Ocean City inlet, a fence runs along side the rock jetty. It was a beautiful day to be at the beach.

How did this bird know I needed a fence shot? Is there too much fencing going on here?

According to the Maryland listserve the Sunset Park in Ocean City is always a happening spot to see some birds. Above is the Common Yellowthroated Warbler. For some reason it looks like there is a double or even a triple fence in this spot.

Also seen at the Sunset Park, one of my favorite bird species the Terns. I think these may be the Forster's Tern.

It was a full moon during our little getaway, it was nice seeing it rise over the ocean.   I hope you enjoyed my post and photos. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments.

To see more pretty skies from around the world please visit  Skywatch Friday
and check for more fence shots at Tex's Good Fences

Thanks to Theresa @ The Run*A*Round Ranch for hosting Good Fences and thanks to Sylvia, Yogi  and Sandy for hosting Skywatch Friday.    I wish everyone a happy day and weekend ahead..

There are sunrises and then there are sunrises. THAT is a sunrise---beautiful!

You do have some wonderful bird photos, as always. And it is okay to stretch the limit on the fence...even if it was the only one.

Interesting shots. I LOVE love the fence running along the beach with its rocky shore. All great shots. B

A pretty pair of terms and that first shot of sunset at Chincoteague is beautiful!

Lovely photos, Eileen! O think I mentioned before how jealous I am that you saw piping plovers. They are quite rare here...maybe even endangered in Ontario, I'm nor sure.

Love the evening shot with the flock of waders.

What a nice sunrise! I see very few of these, not because of the weather either! :)

Stretching is good for us right! Especially when we see fantastic moments in nature, what a stunningly cute bird. I had to google him, and his massive long blade-like bill is just the coolest, and gives him such an advantage in nature! Cool shots Eileen.

gorgeous beach and sky! i like that layered fencing. almost looks like someone made a birdcage. :)

A lovely place to visit and thanks for taking us along! The triple fence is very curious and remarkable but I love the terns relaxing on the fence along the promenade!
Have a great day!

Your moon shots are awe-inspiring! I love how birds can soar above a fence such as this, although they like to grasp the wire with their claws now and then.

Fantastic photos ! Thanks for sharing , have a good day !

Not much into fences but post away on those dazzling plovers! As for the terns, my instinct was Forster's Tern as well. Glad you are having so much fun. I know I might not comment as much on the blog but I do follow your fun on FB and I've been enjoying your treks:)

I always enjoy seeing your fabulous bird shots, Eileen- thanks for sharing them. The terns shot is my favorite today.

What a lovely trip you took for your Anniversary. Those first two shots were just fabulous and so dreamy looking. - Your do take wonderful bird shots. I get to see birds we don't have where I live and that always makes me happy. - There did seem to be a lot of fence in that one shot. I think the vines/branches just added to making it look like multiple fences.

Gorgeous birds, and the light in that second shot is exquisite!

Such great birds -- the oyster catcher is definitely new to me!

You and hubbie worked hard (somehow, I know that) so those spontaneous getaways are well deserved and you sure do use them to explore your world and share the treasures you find with your readers. That is quite the fence in front of the warblers. Definitely unique. And, I love the terns. Oh.. and the sunset.. just spectacular!
