Saturday's Critters #109
Happy Saturday, it's time to share your critters and post. Any kind of critter will do, even a new or old post.. I appreciate everyone who is linking in with this week's critter party.
We are enjoying our life right now just being able to pick and go whenever we want. Hubby and I went on a getaway to the Delaware and Maryland shores. I am sharing some recent photos from our trip to Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware.
One of the first birds we saw above, when entering the wildlife drive was this Bald Eagle.
I like the eye on this Northern Mockingbird and the blue sky is pretty.
Across the pond we saw this fox weaving in and out of the tall grasses. Can you find him?
The Snow Geese flying into the refuge.
Too far away, I tried to zoom in on the Snow Geese.
One of the few Great Blue Herons braving the cold windy day.
I was once told by a friend that also goes birding to stop and check out the fields, you may suddenly see the field moving. This was true the fields right off the road to Bombay Hook NWR, we saw a hundred or so Horned Larks pecking away at the ground. the birds are seen in a line across the middle part of the photo. You have to look closely at the photo, these birds blend in well.
The next images are for Teresa's Friday's Hunt Thanks to Teresa for hosting this fun linky party. I hope to see you there.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the fox.
ReplyDeleteMore frigid weather is predicted for the coming week.
Good Morning, Eileen
ReplyDeleteI'm so very happy you two are having such wonderful times during your retirement. I knew you would. It's a terrific feeling being able to just "GO" when the urge hits.....and likewise being able to be hunkered in when you want as well.
Have a wonderful weekend
You made some very pretty photo's of the birds. I like the bald eagle and the mockingbird very much. We don't see them here.
ReplyDeleteSo many critters this week...outstanding
ReplyDeleteGood Morning. I like your new blog layout Eileen. I find it easier to read black on white - just a personal preference. I love that shot of the Snow Geese coming in to land, it's very atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteAs usual your moon shot is spot-on.
Thanks again for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
That flock of Snow Geese is so impressive, and I loved the swans,,, and everything else about your chilly trip!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen!:) Loved your photo of the Northern Mocking bird, loved seeing them all really, but not too keen on being reminded of a fox, as one ate all our ducklings last night.:(
ReplyDeleteEileen, I love the shot of the moon. Great detail. Good work as always. Have a great Saturday. We are finally getting some snow up here in the Albany area.

Lovely set of photos, Eileen. The moon is great, and what a nice sight that red fox is!

ReplyDeleteReally liked the Great Blue Heron
and the many field Larks . . .
I'm behind in my posting AND visiting today!!
ReplyDeleteLove the snow geese in flight!! Wow...so pretty the white against the blue....and the horned larks. Yes indeed, I've experienced this a few times where the 'ground' is moving!
Great series of photos.
ReplyDeleteGlorious series of captures, Eileen! I did find that sly fox, too! :) I hope your weekend is going wonderfully.
ReplyDeletei love the curve of the snow geese in flight. :)
ReplyDeleteNice shot of that young Eagle, Eileen and to see a fox during daylight is outstanding luck, I think. Windy days seem to be good for the birds! Thanks for having us..:)JP
ReplyDeleteGreat Bald Eagle shot...Yes, I imagine the ground would be moving with all those birds hiding in that grass,,I guess they aren't hiding but just camouflaged well..Hope you are having a good weekend..Thanks for hosting...
ReplyDeleteLoving the new look of the blog....and all those critters...pretty quiet here right now.

Your day was amazing, Eileen! So many gorgeous birds and that cute fox. That's a great photo of the moon, too.
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
Wow - what lovely photos. The flying snow geese are fabulous - but the swimming ones -with all the thousands and thousands of snow geese that overwinter here in NW WA I have never ever seen them swimming - what a treat. We always see them in the farm fields. Someday I hope to see them swimming - fabulous shot - eve from a distance.
ReplyDeleteLove the new meme too - great shots.
Hi Eileen ~~ I'm not a bird lover but I do like your bird finds here, especially the eagle and the heron. We have both those here north in the Texas Gulf Coast. The Saturday hunt looks nice too, I did Friday's .
ReplyDelete..
Very nice - I love all the geese flying in the sky.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there were foxes in North America. We have them in Australia too - they're an introduced species.
ReplyDeleteFabulous captures...love it when I can see the eye so clearly in a bird photo. Whether mine or someone else's...LOL
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of photos, but I especially liked the northern mockingbird.
ReplyDeleteyour bird shots are always amazing Eileen but that shot of the mockingbird just took my breath away.....I can almost count the feathers! How far are you from your subject generally and what size lens do you use for these wonderful shots? I am having a significant birthday soon and a new lens is on my birthday wishlist!!
ReplyDeleteGreat series!
ReplyDeleteI've seen on Facebook a page asking people in our county to keep track of the birds they see this year -- You would have quite a list, Eileen! I would love to see the geese, and Horned Larks would be a real treat too!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a good weekend!
Happy weekend. My Bill the Lizard pays you a visit.
ReplyDeleteSay hello to him.
The heron looks cold!
ReplyDeleteHello Eileen
ReplyDeleteOh your wonderful bird photographs take my breath away.
The Canada geese are amazing - I very rarely see large flocks of birds now, but I remember seeing them when I was young.
A good shot of the fox - survival of the fittest in the wild.
Thank you so much for hosting Eileen and I'm so glad I had some critter photos to share.
Shane
Wonderful photos, as usual, Eileen. MY fave is the one with the snow geese flying overhead.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and enjoy your week.
I especially like the photo of the mockingbird!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic series of photos !
ReplyDeleteGreetings !!
Wonderful group of pictures. Bob is on voluntary layoff, until Jan. 25. He has been off work since the Monday after Thanksgiving. We have had a taste of retirement. It is great to be able to,pick up and go in the middle of the week :)
ReplyDeleteThose swans do look cold. We're getting some snow drifting down today, so I'm watching the birds through the windows.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! You saw a lot in one outing!!!
ReplyDeleteMy amazement is the eagle and those swans!!!
For some reason I only think of swans as a German bird!!
Lovely photos!!
Wonderful photos! The eagle is very handsome. Have a great week ahead, Eileen!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Eileen! So sorry I haven't joined in the past couple of weeks, Hopefully things slow down a little around here this week. Looks like there are a lot of great links to visit too.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I find it difficult to balance between adding content to my blog and visiting everyone else's.
I hope you're having a great weekend!
Okay first thing, your capture of the Northern Mockingbird is incredible. I'd really like to see one and snap it's photo too. Lucky you. Then your skies are all lovely, we have far too much grey around here, and what is that first tree, with the very round buds attached. Very curious as to what they are! Enjoy your weekend, (you'll see what my yesterday was like when you view my post) and I hope you have warmer weather, cuz it's really cold here.
ReplyDeletelooks like a wonderful day! great photos as usual, dear eileen. i like the eye on that northern mockingbird, too!
ReplyDeletehappy weekend~
big hugs!
I'm so jealous of your fox sighting!
ReplyDeletelovely to see all of your images.

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, My two favorites are the Fox and Mr. Moon! By the way, I have found my "Missing" White Pelicans! Over a hundred on a golf course water hazard pond on a local golf course here. I will include pictures in a post soon. Have a fabulous coming week! Very cool and windy here now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you pointed out there were larks in the field Eileen, at first glance I wondered what that photo was about.
ReplyDeleteLots of critters, snow geese and a mockingbird, (it is a singing bird, right?)...
ReplyDeleteOH my, So lovely pictures with blue and orange skies in previous posts, half of the moon... Amazed by...

Great shots, Eileen. How wonderful that you get to go and enjoy such wonderful places. I love the new blog! Thanks for hosting such a fun link up!
ReplyDeleteThat is a stunning shot of the moon. I love to watch the birds that come to visit on our river. We had some Canada geese visit last week flying from somewhere to somewhere. They didn't stay long.
ReplyDeleteHi Eileen,
ReplyDeletea fantastic sunshine and fabulous photos. My favorite is your shot with the many birds in the sky. Marvelous !
Best regards, Synnöve
I'm cold just looking at those photos! Poor birds should have flown south for the winter. Florida is way better than freezing to death! Thanks for sharing the photos!
ReplyDeleteHi Dearest Eileen; When I saw your post first, I wished to say the picture of the flying Snow Geese is like a painted art♪ So many of them and I also love Horned Larks blended in the field.
ReplyDeleteOh, I also have seen cold looking blue heron p:-)
Thank you so much for your kind comments for my pc trouble. I have no clue but happy being able to visit friends again(^^;)
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
A great series of birds, and the fox (Yes, I saw him). I was so impressed at seeing and photographing a Bald Eagle when I was in Alaska last year. I love the image you have captured of all the birds in flight!
ReplyDeleteImpressive details in every single image!...
ReplyDeleteI love them all!!! What can I do?...
Kisses
