Swan Harbor Farm in Havre De Grace Maryland is one of my favorite spots for birding. It is part of Maryland's Open Space Program. It is also a hot venue for weddings and receptions.
Above top row: Swamp Sparrow, Yellow Warbler, Common Yellow-throat. Second row: Tree Swallows and Orchard Oriole. Third row: Bobolink, Solitary Sandpiper, Greater Yellowlegs. Bottom row: Blue-winged teal, Yellowlegs, Great Egret, Canada Goose, Wood Duck & ducklings.
The Swamp Sparrow seen with it pretty rusty cap. The nest in fresh water marshes and bogs.
During this visit, we were in the bird blind and we also walked around the pond and marshland.
Canada Goose, Great Egret and can you find the female Wood Duck and duckling?
Walking around the pond, I heard this Bobolink before I actual saw it. It has a pretty song.
Barn at the Swan Harbor Farms

Eileen, Have I told you that we had a condo in Havre de Grace for awhile in the 90's? It's was such a sleepy little town then. I sure don't remember Swan Harbor Farms. Your photos from that walk are wonderful.

I wish we had something like this. Your places are so "watcher friendly". In Sweden we are always a very long distance from birds and wildelife and nature. Without binoculars you can´t see anything :(
ReplyDeleteLove your image of the Bobolink.
I love that Swamp Sparrow Eileen. Lovely rusty looking head. It's a new one to me, so thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHello,

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen, I think you are one of the best at the bird photos. Always so interesting! I do like the old barns in this post as well. Very nice post and thank you for sharing. Hope you are having a fine week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds and beautiful photos of them. I'm a bit envious of both!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots! Great swamp sparrow!
ReplyDeleteYou have captured some wonderful birds and views especially the bobolink.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I wonder if the Bobolink is related to Grosbeaks... same type of beak. I haven't been out lately, due to the terrible weather or the fact that I pulled a neck muscle and could barely move! Hopefully it is better now... at least I think it is, as I stopped taking the meds today! Thanks for sharing!
